“Inexcusable - This is France, after all!!”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

We came to the Grand Hotel du Cours because the Michelin Guide mentioned that the restaurant served tasty traditional food and specialized in the renowned lamb from Sisteron.

We cannot remember having such mediocre, close-to-inedible food in a long long time. We ordered the the "saumon emincé" which was so stringy and tasteless we had it sent back. This was replaced by a salad with wilted lettuce and industrial dressing. Then the hoped-for leg of lamb arrived– a thin slice that may have been cooked days ago and reheated in the microwave. A high school cafeteria could have done better.

Have to add however that the serving people were quite nice and friendly.

“Go elsewhere”
Reviewed 15 June 2013 via mobile

Was disappointed mainly with service but food isn't that great and at the prices should be much better (77 euro for 2). Great position but won't be going back. Old style arrogant French service, overpriced tourist trap.

“About the best in Sisteron”
Reviewed 14 December 2011

Sisteron unfortunately do not have many nice restaurant. However despite a price a bit steep for the food, you are always welcome and the service is attentif without been intrusive. The food is made of local specialities and I can recommend the Lamb. Overall a good restaurant especially if you can sit outside with the view of the Tower and Church.

“Good local food nice view at central location”
Reviewed 25 July 2010

This is one of the recommended restaurants in Sisteron, located in the same building as the "Grand Hotel du Cours". Nice place as well indoor as - especially to recommend in summertime - outdoor, with nice view to the castel. Good local food, however if you don't like too much fat, ask for lighter dishes. However, worth to try; the menues are to recommend. Reasonnable prices also at evening. When we were there, the owner was present all evening, however the waiters were all from some waiters school - motivated and under strong supervision by the owner, but nervous and performing several mistakes. Overall certainly worth to try.
