“Five stars despite broken loveseat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

Despite arriving in low season, my two friends and I got the last room in the place. Anne didn't blink about squeezing a mattress into the room to accommodate all of us--and served us a lovely breakfast the next morning--for the same price as a room for two. Perhaps her generosity was partly due to the fact that a loveseat collapsed when I sat on it, but nonetheless, she and Laurent were perfect hosts. It was painful to have to leave their perfectly-yet-casually decorated B&B with exquisite grounds so close to town with a view of both Mont Ventoux and the cathedral--but they were fully booked--did I say it was low season? Be SURE to book early if you want to stay here...and you will.

Room Tip: The exterior of the B&B has more charm than the interior, but all rooms are good value and very...

My husband and I spent three nights in this beautiful BnB in Vaison-la-Romaine and it ended up being the highlight of our 2.5 week trip visiting Germany and south of France. We arrived later than we had anticipated and in the dark, but received a warm welcome from host Laurent. Waking up in the morning was simply breathtaking, a beautiful view of open land and olive trees, Roman ruins and the medieval city, and the sun rising over the surrounding mountain tops. The breakfasts were generous and extremely yummy: homemade jams, bread, yogurt, juice, and plenty of coffee or tea. One highlight for us was watching the fuzzy chickens (silkies) and the family dog, Ringo roam around the large yard during the day. I know it sounds silly, but it’s the simple things like this that make you sigh and say, “Ahhh, I’m on vacation.”

We felt welcomed like family and could tell immediately that Laurent and Anne take pride in hosting visitors, enjoying every recap of our adventures driving within the French countryside. Also, you must try the recommended restaurants when you visit as they are incredible (we loved the bio vegetarian-friendly restaurant on the main square).

The location of the property is perfect – within a 5 minute walk to the main square where you’ll pass the famous Roman ruins and lots of cute Provence-themed shops. In all, Vaison-la-Romaine is an excellent choice for a home base in the Provence Rhone region and staying at the Les tilleuls d'Elisee is a must if you visit.

Merci bien, Laurent for the soap samples – they were enjoyed greatly by my family.

Room Tip: Request the "les amandiers" room if it’s available. The views are gorgeous and the room is...

Great value, well maintained and charming rooms, a large outdoor patio, a wine cellar with good but inexpensive wines, terrific views, beautiful grounds (with cats, a dog and chickens among the olive trees) and a great breakfast--what more could you ask for? Six of us (3 couples) stayed for a night in early November while walking in Provence and we all agreed that Les tilleuls d'Elisee, owned and operated with a lovely, pleasant and personal touch by Anne and Laurent Viau, was terrific and well worth returning too!

More like 4.5 stars - this is a truly beautiful and very reasonably-priced B & B in a perfect location for exploring in and around Vaison-la-Romaine. It's owned by Anne and Laurent, a gracious young couple with 2 children, and the property used to belong to Anne's grandparents.

The view from the place is spectacular, with olive trees on the grounds and the medieval city on the hilltop. We stayed in the les Amandiers room, which was fairly comfortable and very attractive in an old-fashioned, picturesque way with amazing views from the bedroom window. The breakfast room is very nice, with old wooden ceiling beams, the breakfast is good (just baked goods and coffee, plus excellent yogurt - put some preserves in it) and Laurent has a selection of excellent wines available to purchase (using an honor system!) for your picnic - they also have olive oil available that comes from Anne's parents' olive orchard. We bought a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and one of olive oil to take home.

Laurent also gave us a map of the surrounding area with his suggested "scenic drive" route - VERY well-done and helpful - and, a map of the town with his restaurant recommendations. USE THIS - all 3 of our dinners at Vaison-la-Roamine were EXCELLENT and based on Laurent's suggestions! (Also, present his map at some of the restaurants and they will give you a free aperatif). The 2 best restaurants were La Lyriste (VERY reasonably priced, and terrific!) and Le Bateleur.

This is the perfect location to walk to all the sites you'll want to see in Vaison-la-Romaine - it's nice walking back after dinner rather than having to drive or take a cab. Don't miss the art galleries in the medieval city, as well as the Roman ruins. We bought a limited-edition print from popular local artist, Zanella, whose colorful work you'll see everywhere, and had lots of fun talking with the lady at his art gallery.

The only complaints are minor: Anne and Laurent should do more checking of the rooms during people's stay. Our towels were not changed during our 3 days, which would have been OK but they weren't getting dry in the bathroom area, so by the 3rd day had begun to smell musty. Also, there was only 1 roll of toilet paper provided, and eventually we had to ask for another roll, which was embarrassing (Anne was also embarrassed and apologetic). However, we would certainly stay here again.

This B & B is in an ideal location within walking distance to everything. The couple who run it are very helpful. Rooms are large and well equipped. Breakfast is substantial. They have maps. with suggested drives and restaurants as well. We spent 2 nights and very enjoyable. Rates were very reasonable for quality of rooms and central location

We stayed here for a few days and used it for a base to tour the countryside of Provence. The rooms are large, pleasant, and fairly large (especially for a gite). A continental breakfast is included. Make sure that you go to the town fair on Tuesdays. The local restaurants are adequate, but not exceptional.

We just spent eight days here and were satisfied with our choice. Indeed, as everyone says Laurent and Anne are gracious hosts. We especially enjoyed breakfast outside with the croissants and home made jam. Our room was large and had great views. We would have wished for a handyman to repair the shower attachment and to replace the five burned out light bulbs in the room. All in all a very good stay.
We were glad NOT to have a swimming pool as this would have attracted young families with little kids.
