Loved being in medieval section up the hill overlooking the town. Rooms are very clean, spacious. If noise is a problem be sure to get a room in the annex building as we were in a room overlooking the bell tower, lovely room and views but bell goes off every hour and a half, all night, unlike Italy where the church bells stop about 11 PM. Restaurant was very good and has a lovely patio if the weather is warm. Breakfast is standard fare, nothing special. Town of Vaison is a great place to base to see this part of Provence. Be sure to visit the Roman theater in Orange, really fantastic, but the town of Orange has nothing else to see. Hotel has parking but very narrow, steep drive up to it through tunnel, small cars only.

Room Tip: Stay in the annex building, not where the reception desk is, farther from bell tower, to not hear be...

le Beffoi was a wonderful hotel. It's located on the hill above the town, in the "old town" section (Roman era). Electic rooms, fashionably laid out. Great views from rooms. Very difficult to drive to- very narrow streets, and even the Tourist Info Center's directions were incorrect. Nice breakfast. We stayed too early in the season- they weren't serving dinner yet. But we stayed outside (one had a cigar) and we enjoyed the sound of the French version of cicadas (even in early April). The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Room Tip: Be prepared for narrow streets when going there!

Beautiful medieval building and very spacious clean rooms, excellent and friendly service. The views were wonderful and the garden was lovely. Nice outdoor and indoor bar and eating area. There are no elevators and no ground floor rooms. Have a knee problem so got the rooms just one floor up and although the steep stone steps were not ideal, it was doable. Tea or drinks available anytime. It's located way high up in the old town. The Roman ruins are actually down below - you can walk or drive to get to them, but any walking back up to the old town will be steep. The whole experience was idyllic.

Room Tip: Be aware of steps - if that's an issue tell them you want the rooms just one floor about the lob...

This hotel was housed in 2 medieval buildings. Tamaris was on the ground floor, but up and down a few steps in the annex. The room had lots of character and was spacious and clean. Very comfortable king sized bed and a great view completed the package. It was a bit of a steep hike to the town, but well worth it. The pool and garden were a big plus.

The Le Beffroi was our first stop on our Walking the World trip. We all loved it there, the rooms were charming and the staff, especially Annette were second to none. Cheery and helpful, with anything.

We stayed at le Beffroi for three nights on a Rick Steves tour of eastern France. The hotel is located in the medieval section of the the town. Rooms are in two adjacent buildings built in the mid-1500s. Our tour bus parked in the town parking lot, and we walked up the hill to the hotel, while our luggage was transported by a small hotel van. Car access via the narrow cobblestone streets would be a bit more challenging, but parking is available.

Our room was in the reception building and was accessed by climbing a stone spiral staircase that charmingly evidenced 500 years of wear on the treads. Putting the skeleton key into the door revealed a beautiful, large room. Windows on three sides overlooked the lane in the front, as well as valley on the opposite side, the bell tower and the garden. Some rooms overlook the famed cycling destination of Mount Ventoux. The room was furnished with antique furniture and beautiful quilts. The ceiling was supported by huge, rough oak beams from the 1500s Wow! Break out the camera.

The second building has a pool terrace that overlooks the valley.

The staff was very friendly and efficient. The site is extremely quiet, but as noted by others expect the clock tower to chime on the hour.

I would love to return.

This was my fourth stay at Le Beffroi. I just love the Geranium room, it is a small, single, room but with a balcony overlooking the clock tower (yes it does chime every hour). The staff at the reception are absolutely delightful and with a great sense of humor. Breakfast is nothing special, but the outside garden and view are wonderful - great place to relax and have a drink with spectacular views of the city. The hotel does have a private parking area but I would recommend that you leave the car at the entry of the medieval city and walk up. The hotel is absolutely charming, each room is different and it is a wonderful experience. Le Beffroi has a restaurant in a lovely courtyard. I did not use the pool, but it is quite a luxury to have one in the center of the old city of Vaison and very welcome during the hot summer months.
