“Despite minor issues, marvellous”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

We have given this lovely little hotel an excellent despite some minor issues. A very warm welcome from the delightful English-speaking Lisl. took us to our very atmospheric rooms. Our son's looked out to the mountains, ours onto a picturesque little courtyard with fountain. He had stayed here previously and enjoyed it then. The location is brilliant; it really is worth being in the centre of this gorgeous, medieval village. There is parking very close by but my advice is park a little way down the hill just outside the town wall as, unless you are arriving early - or late - can be very tricky navigating through narrow streets crawling with pedestrians. The room was spacious and we appreciate twin beds however, with the best will in the world, one could not define them as comfortable with marked dip in the middle. But, the room was quiet. The wifi works well although you do have to re-renter the password each time logging on but this a minor quibble. Breakfast in the lovely garden was delightful with great views over the valley and the lady who finalised the account as we left also very charming. We will come back to this area again and absolutely, would hope to stay here.

Room Tip: We had "Vert" and would recommend this for the space and outlook.

This is a unique hotel on the hill of Vaison La Romaine overlooking the town. The hotel is an original building which has been well maintained. We had a fantastic view over the town and the wider area. Lots of stone steps which are amazing, but need to be careful. Pool is on a terrace overlooking the area also. Breakfast on the terrace was nice ,but we ate dinner in the town.Driving upto the hotel is interesting through the narrow streets. Would definitely stay again.

Two years ago we ate lunch there and decided we need to spend a night there. This summer we did! It was gorgeous: the ambience of the renaissance building, the pool on the terrace overviewing the city, the perfect French dinner, the comfortable beds!

We stayed at Le Beffroi as part of a 10 day bike trip. We stayed in the room that was the first one on the right going up the stone steps. Those steps can be tricky; they are very worn and can be slippery! The room was a corner room and had plenty of space for us with a queen size bed and a table with chairs. It had three windows for good airflow. It overlooked the garden. If people were out there, it could be noisy. It was very, very hot when we were there and they gave us a fan which was helpful. The staff and owner were very helpful and wanted to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Our stay included breakfast which was very good and in the very pleasant garden. Dinners were included, also, and were okay, not great. We were hungry from cycling, though, so we weren't too choosy! If I had the choice, I don't think I would have eaten at Le Beffroi more than once. We loved the location and the view from the hotel. I would certainly stay there again!

Room Tip: I think all of the rooms will be different, but you might get one on a higher floor to be quieter.

Very nice renovated buildings in the old town. The rooms are spacious and cozy, the style shows respect for the historical place. The swimming pool isn't too large but more than enouh for a swim after a hot day. The view from the terrace is spectacular.
Not so nice is the food. Breakfast is ok, but not impressive considering its price. Diner was nice he first evening, but awful on our second evening. Our complaint was ignored - leaving a bad last impression.

This hotel is located in the hillside of the medieval part of the town. The view is great from most rooms and from the charming little garden that serves as breakfast area and supplies fresh herbs to the superb hotel restaurant.
The hotel and the whole area, with narrow cobbled streets, have a lot of charm. Our room was very nice but the bed was of the narrower kind.
Access to the hotel by car and the private parking outside could be a challenge for the faint of heart - or just a thrill to others!
Most staff was very welcoming and helpful.

We loved our room at Le Beffroi. As in many French inns, or hotels most of the rooms are different. I think they would all be wonderful in this place. Some smaller than others, but certainly clean and cheerful. Breakfast was certainly adequate by American standards. The grounds are beautiful, and they even have a pool open during the summer season. There is a restaurant in the inn...one must make reservations in advance I believe, but the food is amazingly good.
