“Breathtakingly beautiful!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2013

As avid Tour de France spectators, we were excited to be able to make the drive up Mont Ventoux. My husband will certainly come back to do the more traditional cycle but even driving up in a car is quite intimidating. We had snow at the top so we could not go all the up but the views are beautiful..

“Absolutely beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2013

Have seen my fair share of lookouts on mountain tops, including in Nepal.
This has to be the best so fast, totally unblocked view 360 degrees.
On one side one can see almost the whole of southern france with its plains, cities, towns and fields. On the other side, the beautiful snow capped Haute Alps lines the horizon with mountains and hills in the foreground.
Far exceeded my expectations.
The place is atmospheric given the strong wind that blows almost throughout the year - very cold and a little frightening - Even at 30 km/h, which is nothing compared to the 90 km/h the wind can build up to certain days, I can imagine someone being blown off as even the car we were in was vibrating in the wind.
Very memorable and highly recommended!

“Giant de Provence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013 via mobile

Astounding. Lunar landscape has to be seen to be believed.
Parapodia ting is available from the top.
Be sure to stop for the Tom Simpson memorial near the top.
When the tour goes up it becomes a very special place indeed. Dutch corner is surreal.
I got married near by and is a dear place to me.

“Summer Summit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2013

Having watched the Tour on TV and a cyclist, this site was a "must-see" for me.

We came up the western flank on D974 out of Malaucene on a clear June day, stopping at all the panoramic views shown on the Michelin map. From these overlooks you can see Bedoin and Vaison la Romaine.

The summit was like another world....looking out on an almost lunar landscape. We had seen Mont Ventoux from many diiferent vantage points throughout Provence but being there was awesome. We had packed very warm clothes in anticipation of wind and cold but it was shirtsleeve weather on top. It was a little hazy on top so it was diificult to make out landmarks in hte distance.

Parking can be an issue at the top. We got one of the last open spots in mid-afternoon.

We left via D164 to Sault and this road was more tortuous than any others on Mont Ventoux and had few panoramic views.

Definitely worth the effort. The TV coverage really does not do justice to the steepness and the difficulty of the climb from Bedoin.
