This lovely little town in France offers on Tuesday morning a great market tucked in the narrow streets of the newer part of town. Across the old roman bride is the older part of town which is well preserved with old stonewalls, stone buildings built around the church on top of the hill. Well worth a visit for some local produce shopping (or just tasting) and a little dance with the musicians playing on the corners.

The newer town below was full of one way streets and really frustrating to navigate even with a GPS, so we ended up leaving the centre and going completely around and were lucky to find a parking spot right next to the old picturesque Roman bridge. After that we walked up the steep hill through the medieval town to see the castle ruins. The old stones are very slippery in spaces so be careful here. The path gets very tricky to navigate in parts as you approach the castle so it is best to wear solid shoes. It is worth the steep hike because it is such a pretty old town and the views from the top are really nice, even though there is not much of the castle left. If it is hot out, go equipped with water as I don't recall any shops up there, they all seem to be down below.

The reason for visiting this city was a fieldtrip, but during leasure time we definately enjoyed discovering the city. It is a great combination of a typically mediterranean city and roman heritage. Wandering around through the (especially in the Medieval) village streets and alleys is so amazing. Walking to the castle ruin on top of the hill is a must, and it provides you with a beatiful panorama view. I would also recommend visiting the old excavations, it was a great experience.
