“Great Provence Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

Tuesday market day in Vaison la Romaine is amazing. You can buy anything from a bar of soap to a dress to a roast beef. The whole town is transformed to accommodate all the vendors. The town itself is delightful.

“The village that never sleep )”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

From April to September, Vaison-la-romaine is probably one of the most animated village from all around. Shop, tourist, but also events and venues are very famous (Vaison Danse, Les Choralies...). And do not forget the Tuesday Market, largest of Provence....

“One of Frances best little villages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

We have just spn a week in Vaison la Romaine and have been to many of the surrounding towns and in our opinion this is the best, with a good balance between shopping, restaurants and sites to see.

“A praise for the markets”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

This lovely little town in France offers on Tuesday morning a great market tucked in the narrow streets of the newer part of town. Across the old roman bride is the older part of town which is well preserved with old stonewalls, stone buildings built around the church on top of the hill. Well worth a visit for some local produce shopping (or just tasting) and a little dance with the musicians playing on the corners.

“Picturesque old medieval town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

The newer town below was full of one way streets and really frustrating to navigate even with a GPS, so we ended up leaving the centre and going completely around and were lucky to find a parking spot right next to the old picturesque Roman bridge. After that we walked up the steep hill through the medieval town to see the castle ruins. The old stones are very slippery in spaces so be careful here. The path gets very tricky to navigate in parts as you approach the castle so it is best to wear solid shoes. It is worth the steep hike because it is such a pretty old town and the views from the top are really nice, even though there is not much of the castle left. If it is hot out, go equipped with water as I don't recall any shops up there, they all seem to be down below.
