“Great budget option for Meribel and 3-Valleys ski/boarding holiday!”
Reviewed 24 February 2014 for a stay in January 2014

In advance of the holiday, and indeed throughout, our host Nicki was great with communication. Having a UK contact with local knowledge was really helpful. We flew to Lyon and caught a train to Moutier with easy transfers, then 10min taxi to Brides - easy! We were a party of 3 staying for 4 days, and the accommodation was really nice. As much as you need in the kitchenette in terms of utensils etc. Always had hot water for showers/baths. The apartment has UK TV, a telephone and WiFi included. There was a problem with the WiFi and telephone while we were there (neither worked) but I understand this has now been resolved. There is the option for 'Lagrange Residence' WiFi but it costs, and also didn't work well when I tried it. Space-wise, I think if there are 4 of you sharing then you need to get on well as it would be cosy! However, we didn't spend much time in the apartment and if your plan is to hit the slopes then the size of the place isn't really going to be a problem.

There is a ski hire shop in the same building which worked great for us. The guy was really nice and helpful, even when it came to restaurant advice! We arrived after 6pm and were kitted-up straight away, with a 40% discount (so no need to book/pay in advance for the online discount!). The ski lift is about 15mins walk away, up a bit of a hill for the last bit. Not a problem for comfy-booted borders, but the skiers moaned a bit. There is a shuttle bus which we caught once. Ski passes are available at the Telecabine. It takes about 25mins on the gondola from Brides to Meribel, but because it opens at 08:30 any keen skiers can still get the first lifts in Merible at 09:00!!!

Our only mistake was not to buy provisions on our arrival in Brides. It was Wednesday and the local Spar closed at 7pm (we didn’t think about this until we had our skis sorted and were on our way to the restaurant!). Even better would be to buy what you need while in Moutier before the final leg of your journey. Alternatively you can buy a welcome hamper all ready and waiting for you. Restaurants in town were great. I can’t comment much more about Brides as we didn’t really do much else (we were up on the slopes!), but the town is really picturesque.

Hope to be back one day...happy hols!

“Brides les Bains is a fantastic location for winter or summer holiday”

The apartment was very clean and comfortable with all mod-cons provided. The location was perfect with easy access to reach ski slopes in winter or walking holidays in summer. We visited in summer and loved the beautiful spa town with lots of restaurants and shops. The scenery is fantastic and we went on many walks alongside the river and up the gentle paths to the hills plus short drive up the mountains with magnificant views. It is also within each driving distance of the beautiful resort of Lake Annecy which we visited for the day and enjoyed lovely boat trip round the lake. However, Brides les Bains has so much to offer that you don't need to go anywhere else if you don't want to.

“fantastic location!”
Reviewed 25 January 2013 for a stay in June 2011

we stayed at Les Cybeles apartments in June for some warm sunshine and some gorgeous scenery. The mountain views all around are superb as are the natural spring rivers running through the town, you can even fill up your water bottles with free spring water! There are lots of different walks around for all levels of fitness, through little mountain villages and more rugged walks along the mountainsides. There is a lovely park at one end of the town where the locals play boules and we went to an evening music concert as well which was crowded with locals and tourists, a brilliant atmosphere. Plenty of bars, restaurants and local produce in shops as well as casino and spa hotels if you wanted to try something a bit different.

The apartment was clean and modern with a balcony where we had breakfast in the sun. There is wifi available by obtaining a code from reception, also swimming pool and spa facilities, again access from reception. There is a nearby telecabin which takes you to Meribel for winter skiing and also summer season in July. We hired a car and so were able to go higher up the mountains to visit Meribel and other lovely villages. We also went to the lakes and spent a day sunbathing and swimming in the clear water.

All in all a fantastic location for either winter or summer breaks, good value for money and I would definitely go there again.
