We stayed here for a week in March and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is a sort of annexe of the Amelie, which is next door, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was very good and breakfast was buffet style with lots to choose from. All-in-all, excellent value for money. Free Wi-Fi is available in the Amelie lounge bar and hotel but I experienced several periods when the signal just dropped out.
The hotel is on the main street of Brides Les Bains and its about a 150 metre uphill walk to the l'Olympe gondola which takes you up to the Chaudanne area of Meribel in 25 minutes. A short walk to behind the ice rink and you can ski down to the lifts at Chaudanne. However, we found out that the snow around the Chaudanne area was mostly very soft and slushy so a fair bit of langlaufing is required to get to the lifts.
A small Spar shop next to the hotel stocks a good range of sandwiches and drinks, which can save you some money, as the cost for something to eat in Meribel is ridiculously expensive. e.g. 25 euros for croque monsieur and a small glass of coke.
The Skiset hire shop is almost across from the hotel and I highly recommend this shop. The young man there was really helpful and considerate when I went to hire skis because mine had been taken of the BA aircraft at Edinburgh, along with 6 other pairs, as there wasn't enough hold space.

We stayed here for a week over Christmas. There were eight of us and we all found the hotel to be clean and comfortable with easy access to the bubble which takes you directly into Meribel. The staff were absolutely charming and helpful - nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Breakfast was good offering a very reasonable selection. Dinner was a perfectly acceptable 3 course meal. A well stocked bar although it was sometimes difficult to all get a seat. All in all a good place to stay and one to be recommended if you are looking for somewhere that is not going to over stretch the budget.

This lovely family owned property is a real Find !!
In a small village of flowers; fresh
air nestled between mountains near the ski slopes and thermal baths.
Having traveled to many hotels world wide and worked internatonally in tourism;
I so appreciate the atmosphere of a small property with all possible updated amenities
with the warmth providing a sense of ease in a traditional Savoyard life style.

Highly recommended for rest and relaxation; family activities in the area.
and a beautiful experience

I already knew that Brides-Les-Bains would be the ideal location for our Summer trip around this part of the French Alps.
The Vanoise is located right in the centre of Brides-Les-Bains and close to many shops, bars and restaurants.
It is an 'annexe' of the Amelie hotel and as such does not have its own reception, restaurant or bar etc. but use of the Amelie facilities is available to La Vanoise guests. The entrance to La Vanoise is right on the main road in town and guests gain access to the building by using a keypad code.
Our room (No. 28) was at the back of the building and with views from the balcony across the roof of the Amelie hotel to the mountains behind.
The room had a largish entrance area with doors off to the bathroom, separate toilet and the bedroom. The bedroom area had plenty of storage area, a TV and a safe for valuables. All areas of the room were acceptably decorated and clean.
We found that the room, the hotel and the facilities were well worth the price we paid. In fact, a bit of a bargain in comparison to the costs of other hotels in town.
I believe we were checked in by the hotel manager on arrival. We found him very pleasant and helpful as we did the young lady who dealt with us when we checked out.

We stayed here at the end of the skiing season and found Brides les Bains ideal, almost 2 holidays in one- skiing in Meribel at the top of the cable car, and springtime in Brides. La Vanoise was perfectly comfortable, we were allocated a triple room at no extra cost. Food was tasty, although fish was served 2 days running and my husband doesn't like fish, though we weren't told we could choose an alternative, we were on a set menu. My only criticism of the staff was that they could have been more friendly, some of them couldn't crack a smile most days. Overall a very good value for money holiday, half board for the price of self-catering in Meribel

me and my partner have just got back from stopping @ the Vanoise with our friends!
we had the time of our life there! ( saved us about £250 each for a week as this is a buget area)

the hotel is abit out the way but the 20min gondala trip was not a problem at all ( gave us time to plan our day skiing and on the way back we just passed out)

hotel has everything u need, beds shower bath! very basic but thats all you need as you spend all day out skiing ( the bath is a very good size to pass out in after a day sking) Cleaned everyday, towels and soap provided, extra blankets in the cubopard and a safe included!

we went half board,(ALL FOOD SERVICED IN THE HOTEL EXT DOOR BUT THERE IS A WALK THROUGH ON THE FIRST FLOOR) the breakfast is spot on from 7am-9:30. everythig from cereals, yoguarts, toast, fruit. the dinner howeveer was not really our thing ( it was rather posh) but we didnt mind as the local pubs/bars services up basic foods which is what we wanted (I highty recommed a place hidden away called PIZZA MAN, its 2 mins from the hotel. the pizzas are the best we have every had, and the chips are to die for! also as the owner about the Rum he does...we got a few sample but be warned.....the chilli rum blows your socks off)

If you are like us and plan to Ski from 8:30am until 5:30pm you wont have much energy to party all night then brides les bain is perfect, a nice small village with just what you need! few bars/resauants, nice locals and very piecful @ night!
(i recommend the Punch in the Amelia bar)

Overal an amazing trip, i recommend this area and hotel for anyone on a ski trip bugdet!!!!!

Get in touch if you have any questions, id be happy to answer.

This hotel has hit a total low point in service level that I thought would not be possible.

After staying there for 4 nights, the lock actually broke to the point where only 50% of the key would fit into the sylinder.

Even the hotel manager could not open the door.

His solution was to let us stay in another (lower class) room for one night and promise to have the door fixed by 8:30 the next day.

The door was not fixed until 11:30 at the earliest, and at that point the hotel manager claimed that we were responsible for breaking the lock and presented us a bill of 80€ for replacing the lock etc.

This was something we denied instantly and he basically stormed out of the room like a 5 year old kid who did not get what he wanted in a toy store.

I followed him out into the hall to ask him to come back and have a civil conversation but he did not even bother to answer me before he went into the elevator.

As the lock was changed, our old key did not fit - and when we went downstairs into the reception to ask for a new key we were informed by the receptionist that the hotel manager had ordered them to have us leave our credit card before giving out our new key.

We asked why this was necessary, how long they wanted the card and how much, if anything would be charged - but they had no answer.

I specifically asked to speak to the hotel manager again but we were told that he refused to speak to us.

The only solution was to call our credit card company and barr one of the credit cards in order to protect ourselves from a scam and leave it at the front desk so we could get our key back.

Later on the hotel manager would periodically threaten to call the police on us if we did not pay and he also threatened to kick us out of the hotel - these threats only stopped as soon as we called hotels.com (which was where we booked the room) who again called the hotel manager to tell him that such threats were unaxeptable.

I would never ever reccomend staying at this hotel or the Hotel Amelie ever, to anyone just because of the hotel manager who manages both hotels.

To top it all of the WiFi was out of service for 50% of the stay.

Brides-Les-Bains however is a nice and quiet little town and the gondola / ski lift is very conveniently placed near the town center so I could easily reccomend this place to people again, but I think its more suited for families with little children than friends on a trip as most restuarants and bars close between 22 and 24:00.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the ski lift get much sun during the day time.

Thank you for letting us know what you think about our hotel.
But i would like to clarify a few things.

I did come to your room to try to fix the problem with the door , i noticed that the key was in fact broken and that the other half was still in the lock.
We offer you to stay in another room for the night as it was 2 am and the door couldnt be fixed then.

It appears that you had a few drinks that night and we did have complaints from the other guests staying in the hotel about noise coming from your room late at night and about the smell of urine coming from the balcony.

We thought it was only fair that you would pay for the door as you did break the key inside the lock ( this never happened before) and we had to change the whole lock .

the lock was changed before midday and just to mentioned that you didnt pay for the lock as the paiement via you credit card has been rejected.
