“The SPA ... ... avoid!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2013

I've been to the spa ... it is a joke! the massage tables are unconfortable (i.e. no hole for your face). 3 out of 8 cupboards on the changing room are broken. Yo reserve a treatment and you got another one ... and you can only "especially" enter in the spa pool area but not use the pool ... Even if without power of changing something, the employees are friendly!

I stayed two nights on business. I'd stay there again - so let's get that out of the way. It claims to be three star and that's about right.

This hotel is a case of the devil being in the detail. First night I dined in the hotel restaurant. Whilst the menu was not extensive, the food was excellent. The Pumpkin Soup was up to haute cuisine standards (IMO) and the Rump Steak was a decent size and exactly as I'd ordered it. Very tasty.

But - the room had no tea making facilities and no drinking water apart from the extortionate (as everywhere) minibar. The EU rather than legislating on the shape of a banana should concern themselves with the sharp practice known as "the minibar".

AND - on the second morning at 06:30, there was no hot water so I had to skip a bath. When I got back to the room at 07:15 after (a decent) breakfast, the water was hot. So, a fail there and hence 3/5 on Rooms.

AND - although the bed was comfortable, the pillows OK (but nowhere near as good as Holiday Inn), the room smelt of cigarettes despite the hotel no smoking policy. What I suspect happens is this: those (wretched) smokers go onto the balcony where an ashtray is provided and they leave the room door open. The French, AFAIK, smoke more heavily than the Brits and what's worse it's those awful Gitaines or similar. So they stink the place out. The hotel shoud get a grip on this unpleasant aspect (hence only 3/5 on cleanliness).

As I said, I'd go back there and will probably have to.

Yes the hotel is slightly on the basic style and if you arrive in peek summer you might get an apartment in the near by block, but I like it. 20min drive from the airport in a little village with plenty to do. Water sports out side the hotel, casino and racetrack for the adults and good runs and walks in the near by forest. I have never tried the spa in the many times I have stayed but that not me. On a sour note breakfast does need a little work.

apartement hotel with a view on Lave Divonne (don't mixup with the big lake on the swiss side). The rooms are not spectacular at all. We were located in a side building and the bed, furniture, and bath room are practical, but that is it. The bar would be a nice surrounding but is half of the time not serviced.

second stay in 2 years at La Villa du Lac
we still enjoyed a lot this peaceful place, large appartments very convenient.
Hiring a bike is quite cheap. Swimming pool very fine (dont try it after the jacuzzi but before !)

however, you may expect better for such a hotel : missing towels in the spa, no support to get some after 6pm, just we you can come with childrens. Defective lights in the rooms, also in the hammam and swimming pool. do not expect 4 stars level.

Room Tip: Appartement Supérieur was fine for 2 adults + 2 small children with their own bed.

We went there for a long week end of family reunion, mainly for the location as it was in the middle of where we all live and close to Geneva airport.
First impression was bad as the hotel doesn't look good from inside, concrete only and no charm. When we arrived the staff at the reception were not really friendly.
Rooms were ok but cleanliness was terrible, we had about 10 rooms. Two of them had nail polish marks in the bathtube, few were smelling of cigarette (even though it was non smoking rooms) and some of us even found a used condom under the bed. We all had troubles with the bathtubes and sink which had troubles to evacuate the water and water was going all around the bathroom when we were having showers.
There is internet in the hotel, but the cable is in the room is so small that you have put put your computer in a werid position if you want to plug it and be able to see the screen, which is not very comfortable to work. And wifi is available only at the reception.
However bed were good, and we all had good nights.
Spa was very small compared to the size of the hotel, hammam and jacuzzi were full most of the time in the afternoon and towells were never available, we had to ask and wait for it everytime we were coming to the spa (where there was towell all around the pool probably left there by previous customers).
Restaurant was ok, food was nice but meat always undercooked and there was no choice. Staff not really friendly and food overpriced. Breakast was good but staff was always overloaded and we had to wait a lot to get what was missing (warm milk, chocolate...).
One night we did an "apéritif" all together (around 20 people) in the lounge, the staff prepared everything on the bar but noone came to serve us, we had to help ourselves, pour the drinks, bring the glasses and biscuits to everyone. For a 3 stars hotel, this is not acceptable especially as we paid extra for this.
Overall we had a good time because we were all together, we had cars and went to very nice places around and this place was convenient for us but i would not recommend to stay there.
