“Nice room but otherwise disappoining”
Reviewed 18 May 2013

The hotel itself was clean and recently decorated when we stayed. The staff were OK, but not over helpful. The location is not perfect as you really need to drive into Saint Tropez which can take 1 hour during the morning and afternoon peak times, which is most of the morning and afternoon. We choose it for the secure parking, but our car at 5M long was a bit too long for most of their spaces. It was a 8 or 9 point turn to get in or out. Our room was modern with basic furniture. We had a great views from our room though which over looked the pool with good sea views. No evening meal was available when we were there and breakfast was traditional French which was very over priced. Saint Tropez was great though. We found some great restaurants in town and really enjoyed it. Will go back, but not to this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was OK, but others were complaining about the traffic noise. We were on the top floor.

So I booked this place because it was listed as being in Gassin (which is one of villages listed in Les Plus Beaux Villages de France)...unfortunately it was nowhere near Gassin! It's only minutes away from St. Tropez which is fortuitous, but if I was going to spend the money the money to stay in St. Tropez, I would've stayed in the village proper or on the beach. This hotel is directly off the road leading to St. Tropez and approx. 15 minutes away from Gassin by car. Gassin is over 1000 feet above sea level...this is probably around 25 meters at most!

Don't get me wrong, this was a great hotel. The rooms are great and the staff was ultra friendly and helpful...it's just such a disappointment when one is expecting something other than what is reality.

The best things about this hotel were the employees who were very helpful giving us lots of tips on where to visit and making books on our behalf due to our lack of french and the fact it wasn't too far from St Tropez by car (staying in St Tropez was too expensive for us).

We chose a partial sea view which we had and if you're sitting on the bed, it was a perfect view.

However what isn't visible in the pictures is the fact its on a busy road. You can't hear the traffic due to soundproofing but it wasn't enjoyable being outside due to the noise.

We didn't stay in them however the rooms that had one long communal terrace behind the pool would be my pick.

My husband and I went on a last minute trip to St Tropez with our grown son, and the only thing we could find was a suite at the Hotel la villa, which we booked for Euros 350 a night withouth breakfast. Reasonable for St Tropez, yes, yet still well priced. At our arrival we were put off by the smell of mildew (infiltration in the bathroom) and the windowless single room. No hotel service in the evening, just a guardian. My husband and I slept terribly--the mattress was very thin and with a sort of lump along the middle from head to toe. Next morning the owners explained (nicely, but withouth assuming any responsibility) that the support in the middle of the bed had fallen. In our second night, we slept equally poorly, but this time it seemed the thin mattress was raised along the middle, and we kept falling towards the edge. Next morning before checking out, the owner did not ask once about how we had slept, if the problem had been solved, and, of course, did not make any commercial gesture of the sort of a discount. On the opposite, she charged us a small bottle of mineral water from the frigobar. Not to return, ever.

Nice clean, quite room. Not to spacy, but good enough. The only detail is that you need a car to go to St Tropez center (5 min away) and to the beaches (20 min). Staff is also very helpfull

Great Hotel. Small but sweet. Beautiful swimming pool and adequate rooms (however pillows could be better). There is a cheaper old wing and a slightly more expensive modern wing. Both are fine.
It is a 5 minute drive from town (taxi ride costs €20) and less than 15 minutes from the Pampelonne beach clubs. It is actually much closer to St-Tropez than it is to Gassin but if you want the cheaper restaurants in Gassin for lunch, it is still fairly close.
The owners are extremely nice and make it a homely atmosphere.
Choose this hotel if you want to spend your money in the St-Tropez clubs and restaurants rather than on over-priced hotel rooms.

My friend and I stayed at Hotel La Villa for a girls weekend in St Tropez, i.e. to visit Nikki Beach Club & Les Caves, etc.. While we were happy with our stay at this hotel, it is recommended for couples with a car. The hotel located in between Gassin (La Foux bus stop) and St Tropez and is walking distance from the bus stop. The hotel is 5-10 min. drive or 30 min. casual walk into St Tropez town.

Some more useful information:
- Rooms are small but well appointed
- Nice outdoor lounge area and pool
- Good service with some english speakers
- An alternative to the continental breakfast (13 Euro) is the great Bolongerie on the main road, 15 min. walk towards St Tropez.
- Swimable beaches wihtin 2 min. of hotel. Taxis cost 20 Euro to St Tropez & 30 Euro to Pampelone Beach
- Cleaning starts around 8.30am so it is very difficult to sleep in
