Lovely accommodation and very helpful staff. Location is quiet which is great wrt use of hot tub (outside with fab views) easy parking and good access to slopes. This is a chalet clearly set up well for the British audience.
Great location, can ski in and (almost) ski out. Great views and facilities accompanied by this seasons host by the name of Dan who knew what he was doing in the kitchen. Be prepared to have many holiday reps stop in and out (they can be helpful).
We had an amazing week in the chalet, all the food was great and we loved the hot tub. Very close to the bus stop up to the lifts and could ski down to the chalet at the end of the day. Great value for money and we would definately book again and recommend to our friends.
We wanted a large place for a family holiday. 14 in total - 6 children and 8 adults.
For many years my sons and I have been coming to the Alps each year for Le Tour and honed in on Alpe D'Huez, Vaujany and Les 2 Alpes as being a potential venue.
As soon as we read the details of the Mountain Chalet we thought yes!
Sara and Tim were great to deal with and when we arrived on the Sunday we were all impressed. The Chalet was much better than described and in an ideal location.
The views are to die for and opening the curtains in the morning became a ritual with the grandchildren - sun, cloud and one morning all the surrounding mountains were covered in snow.
The balcony is huge with BBQ and the downstairs verandah with the hot tub is spectacular. The lounge/ dining area/ kitchen are big and we always had plenty of room.
Being keen cyclists we had a large number of bikes and kit but the massive storage area by the front doors has loads of cycle racking oh and a Sauna.
Although situated on the main drag up to the village most of the traffic turns off lower down and takes the new road into the village so it is quiet.
You can walk into the village on a track or else cycle/ drive or catch the bus.
Just to reiterate the accommodation is first class and the amenities from wifi, Sky, hot tub etc, are really impressive.
The children are aged from 3 - 9 and they loved it.
There is so much to do in the summer not only in Alpe D'Huez but the surrounding area. You don't have to cycle up the 21 bends the children were able to cycle in many areas at the top of the village and enjoyed the luge, horse riding, swimming, climbing, ice skating etc,
We would love to come back and would thoroughly recommend The Chalet - try it you definitely won't be disappointed.
Had a brilliant stay at the Mountain Chalet. It is very well presented and has everything you'd need for a relaxing enjoyable stay. TV, wifi, and even had a hot tub and sauna. Ideal for either couples , family's or groups. Has lovely balcony with amazing views down the mountain and the famous 21 hair pin bends used during the Tour de France. I would recommended it to anyone for a winter ski break or summer adventure holiday. A must for adrenaline junkies is the via ferrata, Canyoning is also highly recommended, along with canoing. All can be booked at the information centre in Alpe DHuez village.
Great location. Next to the bus stop which runs frequently during the high ski season. We had limited service, but this didn't matter because the roads were clear and we took the car up to the top of the resort and parked for free close to the lifts.
It was a lovely walk up to the "O Bar" on Gill and Roger's day off. The burgers were awesome!
The local sports centre offered obstacle course / ropes course for the kids if they did't fancy skiiing for the afternoon. They thoroughly enjoyed this.
The chalet was perfect. Tim and Sara are continually looking for ways to improve what they offer and are prepared to ask for feedback and make renovations to the chalet as appropriate.
The hot tub was well used by the kids. It meant we didn't have to nag them to shower! ......and also meant we had to get in there quickly if we wanted to use it. The views from the hot tub are to die for. It is a smug feeling when you spur-on the cyclists as they near the top of the ascent up the hairpins from the comfort of the hot tub. I know where I would rather be - although I was able to cycle the "Mystical Ascent" as well.
Gill and Roger are great chalet hosts. I believe it is their 3rd season and they know what they are doing and do it very well.
Food was brilliant and plenty of it.
Thank you very very much.
I was surprised at how large the skiing area in Alpe d'Huez is and this chalet has all you would need to enjoy the restore. It's a short walk from the main town, has a sauna, hot tub and the views across the valley are stunning. The hosts are welcoming, friendly, have a vast knowledge of the area and will go out of their way to accommodate. I will definitely be visiting again.
