Les Bergers

I stayed here with friends in early January and we had a great time. The apartment was just big enough for 4 people and the balcony and views were fantastic. It really is a ski in / ski out place and there are enough shops, bars and restaurants nearby to keep you satisfied. We ate in half the time and althoguh the kitchens are basic, there is enough equipment to cook a decent meal even without an oven. As proof of what great value for money these apartments are, I am returning tomorrow for a week with my 2 children! I'm not sure what type of apartment we have as it was a late booking but I really hope we have a one bedroom one with a balcony and great views of the mountains. I've been telling my children how great the apartments are and how good the skiing is so I hope the weather is nice. Belambra Club, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!! James Bardner.

Room Tip: Definitely try to get a balcony!

We have just returned from a fantastic ski trip to Alpe D'heuz. The appartment is basic but warm and clean. Before I went I had read some terrible reviews and was a little concerened so expected the worst! However, when we arrived I was plesently suprised. Although the sleep arrangements were somewhat fragmented the beds were cosy and I was able to get a week of uninterruped sleep. Ok so you dont have a oven but I was able to make 7 lovely meals using a microwave and cooker. There are plenty of utensils and crockery. I took dishwasher tablets and a small washing up liquid and that was fine for the week. You just have to do a little cleaning up after yourself and maintain your living space but to pay for basic accomodation you can't exepct the ritz!! Although the appartment slept 4 there was two of us and I would say that was enough, it may be ok if you have small children. No roudy nights and we went in french half term!

The location is absoloutely perfect you have a supermarket across from the hotel, we found going down to the boot room and walking across the slope the quickest route, 2min max. There was a shopping center there with a few restaurants and bars, we recommend the Tiger Cafe for a little apres ski. The resort itself is ideal for all levels of skiers/boarders and we had a wonderful time and would come back.

Room Tip: We didnt opt for a balcony as we didnt see the point, why would you go out on a balcony in -5 condit...

This apartment has a lot of bad reviews however it is not as bad as it is made out! You get what you pay for, but what you get for the price is brilliant.

Okay so the negatives are:

- that nice little tray you usually get with all the tea, coffee and sugars with the kettle are not provided.
- you have to clean up yourself unless you pay the extra £50, really not hard anyway
- the bath with the inbuilt shower hose does not have any wall hook; that's a French thing in ANY pre-2009~ hotels as the French only use it to wash their hair! So have a lovely bubble bath instead after a cool ski!
- no oven

Positives:

- Doorstep skiing! Straight down the hill and land at the 4 main lifts; Romains/Marmottes, etc.
- Lots of spare bed sheets & pillow cases provided (to change them yourself!)
- Supermarket literally 'across the road' (down the hill) 2 min walk
- Local families as well as friendly friends came to this hotel, it isn't as rowdy as made out; we had 1 noisy night out of 7, and that was on Xmas day.
- Balcony apartments, nice view
- Microwave and cooker
- Locker room on doorstep, and safe
- Plates ARE clean! But if not the case, you have a dishwasher
- The chalet styled rooms are nicely themed to your ski holiday.

If you want to go to Alpe D'Huez for skiing and don't plan on staying in the hotel all day, this is a very good budget hotel to go to. It's basic. As soon a you get home from skiing all day, you fall straight to sleep! We took our tablet to watch movies in bed when we got back so you don't care for all these little complaints made on here.

If you want to be served on, then you can pay the extra £200+~ to go into the hotel section. Yes a deposit is required, but this wasn't much of a shock for us, it's usually the case with other hotels we've been to so if you don't plan on trashing the place, you get it back anyway. We had a nice stay between the 21 - 29 Dec 2012.

The staff at Belambra were really helpful.
Unless you like basic accomodation and being woken up throughout the night.....even on a quiet week ( description used by staff), by returning clubbers/pubbers we would not recommend this accomodation.
The position in relation to the lifts is good.

just returned from a week in the belambra clubs les bergers alp d huez, great resort for all levels great snow great food etc..... no sleep for 7 nights due to young adults"kids" partying from 7.30pm till 3/4am in the morning banging doors srceaming in corridors, shouting over balconys room partys, smashing bottles outside the main ski in ski out area.....all due to oddessy the youth club for drunken miss behaved kids basically. hotel management did and basically refused to do nothing.rooms were also extremely basic and very unclean for saying you have to pay a 50euro end of cleaning!! never again....good for 16/23year olds who want to just party and have sex with every one!....not for families or the more mature adults....total hell hole

Room Tip: pick another appartment.

We had to pay around a £200 deposit on arrival which we were not informed of previously, this was incase we never cleaned the dishes, hoovered and completely tidied our room before departure. The sheets were not changed once during our 7day visit (this might be a common thing for budet hotels in France, even so, it's still not on) and the rooms were tiny and uber basic. The shower head had no wall fixing so you had to hold it in your hand while showering. As per title the only reason I am giving a 2 star review is for its very close location to the slope and supermarket.

Save that little bit more and upgrade to a better hotel, it'll be worth it!

We stayed here for a week after my friend who booked the place mixed up what he was booking (unbelievable i know). When we arrived we had to pay 250euro deposit which we were not told about before, and, moreover, the room was *filthy*. We had to wash up all the dishes before we had even eaten from them.

Some of our friends had another room at this same hotel and their experience was the same. This hotel is utterly crap - rooms and small, in bad condition (see the picture of mould in the room by the beds). The only saving grace is that its right next to the supermarket and Lift.
