We have been skiing for 7 years in France and Switzerland. This particular chalet hotel has to be the worst we have stayed in regarding quality of the accommodation. It is actually a 2-star establishment with very shabby cramped rooms often with extra beds squeezed for income generation. The chefs do change every season and I note that previous guests have had good meals. On this occasion, this was not the case with quite basic food which is fine if your group consists of young single people who really don't mind about the quality of food and are only interested in skiing but not so fine if you have a family. We were seated for the evening meal at 7.30 but never got our main course before 9pm which often meant that everyone was tired by the tired the evening meal was finished at about 10.30pm.
The washing facilities were something out of the 1970s with mouldy showers, asbestos ceiling tiles and unfortunately the smell of sewage on some days.
The boot room had 3 plastic garden chairs for 40 people to sit down on and put there ski boots on. The exercise room is essentially a exercise machine in the corner. The hot tub was actually very useable!
The location is on a ski slope which is good. BUT the main ski area is actually on the far side of town and is accessed by 'lobster pots' just down the slope. There was usually a queue just to get onto them and then a 10 minute journey on the lobster pots to reach the main ski area. You have to allow at least 30 minutes of travel to reach the ski school meeting point. There is no way of skiing there.
On a more worrying point. The chalet hotel would fail on fire and safety issues and these have been highlighted to Skiworld. The fire doors are so poorly fitted that are 6 inch gaps above them. Emergency fire lighting does not work. Emergency escape doors are left open enabling intruders easy unimpeded access. Staircase handrails are about to come off the walls posing a potential health and safety risk.
In summary, this is probably a good hotel for young single skiiers who don't mind lack of quality and who are decent skiiers who don't need to go to the ski school and don't mind 'roughing' it.
