Chalet Hotel les Bruyeres
Reviewed 7 March 2013

A great location situated very close to the lifts, and ski hire shops. Above a lively bar, which always had a good atmosphere. The bar can be loud at night, but from the 2nd floor and after a day on the slopes nothing that disturbed sleep. The boot room in small, and you have to share lockers with another room, which means there isn't enough room for everyones skis and boots. Meals are ok, the packed lunch is good value, and the wine never stops flowing during dinner!
The rooms are very basic, with no TV, however are adequate if you are using them just for sleeping, which is likely the case on a ski holiday. All staff were very friendly, and approachable.

We have just returned from a week at Les Bruyeres and had a great time. The staff are fantastic, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Food was good and the packed lunches are great value - the wine flowed freely and was very drinkable.
Rooms are basic but they are clean, warm and there is always plenty of hot water - my other half would have liked a tv in the room; there is one in the lounge but it didn't work for 3 days and the wifi doesn't work consistently either.
The chalet is close to the slopes, the ski hire shop, the ice rink and pool. The bonus for our party was the lively Sphere Bar situated below the chalet. It provided great après ski atmosphere and live music until the early hours. However, some guests with young children complained about the noise - something to bear in mind when booking.
I loved the relaxed attitude of the staff and the fact that you could make yourself a brew at any time of the day or night. I would not hesitate to recommend the chalet - it was excellent value!

A great central location with easy access to the ski hire shop and lifts. You can even ski down the road to the lifts if the police aren't in the area! Staff are very friendly and always available to lend a hand. Rooms are basic but clean and with a great shower. We hit lucky and had a balcony overlooking the mountain - very scenic. Despite consistent temperatures of -10 or less the rooms were always warm. A cooked meal is available six nights out of seven. While presentation could be improved with a bit more effort the food overall was nice - hard to complain. As they say you get what you pay for. There is also breakfast every morning with a choice of cereals, crossaints and a hot option if you want. A locker room is available for ski equipment which you share with the room next to you. This is quite small for four people so some gear was taken to our room. The Sphere Bar is located at basement level and there is entertainment every night. A nice way to relax for an hour after a long days skiiing. If I was being picky I would say that the Wifi facilities should be improved and perhaps a small tv in the rooms would not go amiss. This aside The Chalet Hotel Les Bruyeres is great value for money and well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor as music from the bar may keep you awake if not a heavy sleeper. Bring an ext...

The staff really grafted and were lovely withbCrystal ski! Whizz kids made the holiday for my son who did half days with them at the hotel across the road - so perfect location! 5 mins walk to main lifts and bar in cellar was a bonus - the sphere bar! The bar in the Hermitage across the road is cheaper though! Negative points are that the food was not very good - hot breakfast options were cold and limited quantity a! Dinners were not filling but wine plentiful! The chef was a lovely lad but not a good cook! Staff all went extra mile but overall need better food when skiing ;-) we will use Crystal again as still good value for money Our room was a good size and basic but fine for us! Did the job overall but could be better

First time that we have booked a chalet when skiing and was a bit unsure as to whether we had done the right thing, also one or two reviews worried me a bit, but from the minute we walked in the door we just knew we would not be disappointed. Totally friendly chalet staff , location great, ski hire shop on the door step, rooms fine, piping hot shower. Cannot find fault with anything. 3 course meals every night , and the quality of the food is tip top. The wine is free and of good quality .
Always an afternoon cake - freshly baked -and fruit is also another free option. Tea and coffee flows freely at all times of the day. Choice of 4 different cereals at breakfast plus a cooked option , yogurt, fruit, croissants and juices.
Packed lunches - if u would like one are 5 euros and i was told that they were v good.
Chalet staff have one day off a week so we went to Smithy Bar for our tea. We enjoyed it , not too expensive , good quality food, friendly staff and a good idea to book if u don't want to be disappointed.
Resort had plenty of snow - with loads of runs. We loved it.
There is a room to keep your equipment in , it is smallish but fine.
I am not one to recommend places because everybody looks at things differently but for us this chalet was brilliant and we would not hesitate to stay there again- spot on!

Room Tip: Book this through crystal there service was also very good, grenoble is a terrible airport for organ...

The chalet is in a brilliant location! It's right at the top of the main street and only 5-10 min walk from the slopes (plus there are always the lobster pots for those who don't want to walk). It's quite big for a chalet (30) but still keeps that friendly atmosphere. It's excellent if you like it lively as its right on top (there are internal stairs) of a great bar called Sphere!!! Some people complained of the noise but we were on the 1st floor and it never bother us (but that might have been because we were down there more often than not!). All in all we loved the chalet!

Room Tip: Request rooms higher up or at the back for quiet but the ones at the front have the best views.

We stayed for the week of 12th - 19th January. We were a group of families, couples and singles. The snow was amazing and we had only one day of bad visibility with a huge dump of snow all day, the rest came at night. Luckily this was the Wednesday, the day after the Crystal pub crawl (our only night out) so we opted for Sledging instead. There is a purpose built "Pistes de Luges" under the DMC Gondola and as long as you have a helmet and a sledge with brakes, both of which you can hire at the ski shop by the lift, you can sledge to your hearts content without the dragging back up the hill bit - Amazing! anyway about the Chalet.....it was basic, as that always are but clean, tidy, well stocked and well run. The Staff were eager to please and our room 301 (triple up in the eaves on the 3rd floor) was huge compared to other chalets we've stayed in. This one has a bath aswell and although it's facing away from the southern, pretty view....it's quiet and with so much space. The food was good although a slightly larger portion on the hot food breakfast option would have been appreciated on occasion. We filled up on bread though and the cakes were good too. Evening meals had a nice selection and for our night out, I followed the recommendation of previous reviews and tried the Le genepi restaurant in the lower 'old town'. It was lovely but be warned with small children it was a bit of a hike downhill. Luckily the lovely Irish barman, Paddy dropped us back up again.
The location of the chalet is AMAZING! 23 steps to the childcare which as always with Crystal was absolutely fabulous, located in the hotel Hermitage. Ski school was brilliant and our child loved it! The lifts, the pool (free x 1 with your lift pass), the ice-rink, (free x 1 with your lift pass), the ski-hire shop, the pharmacie, the Pizza palour and the centre of the resort were literally on your doorstep. The sphere bar is right below you. You don't even have to go outside as there's an internal door so having a quick drink without having to go outside wearing your crocs in the bar was a real treat! As a family, our most convenient, stress-free holiday ever! Loved the Chalet, would definately recommend highly, loved the resort for both skiing and boarding as we did both. Just a fantastic holiday!! Can't wait to go again......

Room Tip: Despite having the Sphere Bar below - we never heard a thing! 301 is a fab room.
