We stumbled across this charming mountain restaurant on our first day's skiing at La Clusaz. Quite literally in fact as it was snowing heavily and visibility wasn't great. The authentic alpine chalet was warmed by a real fire which was set up to be cooked on too. All in all very inviting and the staff couldn't have been more friendly. We slaked out ski thirsts with a beer each and then shared an excellent platter of local charcuterie washed down with some lovely 2008 Chignin white. Home cooked mains of various meat, cheese and potato combinations arrived next and at this point I was so overcome by the place and the general gorgeousness of my girlfriend sitting opposite me that I proposed to her. Cue complimentary genepis shots and well wishes from staff. We returned in the sunshine three days later and had fire cooked ribs and salad outside on the terrace. Did I mention the large table of local mountain desserts? Not a place we will forget in a hurry. Perfect in every way.
