“Would love to go back and try it with snow!”
Reviewed 11 April 2014

Just spent the last four days here. The decor of to hotel is very modern and comfortable. The bar and restaurant areas are very well laid out. Our room was a very big suite with a great view and the facility are pretty amazing. We enjoyed the restaurant, the chef is excellent as are the wait staff. I would like to see the bar food service run a little longer in the evening to allow a more causal, dining experience. The fine dining could be a bit rich every night if you where here for a whole week. I didn't get to use the spa as it was completely booked. The ski room, although small offers a great service. Breakfast is a let down and doesn't fit with what the hotel, offers in other ways. It needs to be better laid out with a bigger option and more emphasis on cooked breakfasts on offer should you require. My only problem other than the lack of snow was the very loud music till 1pm right outside my bedroom window!

Room Tip: Suite with a view and bath and shower

We have just had 3 nights staying at this beautiful spa hotel. From the moment we arrived we were looked after by the friendly attentive staff. The hotel is beautifully appointed and has a very cosy feel. We were lucky and stayed in a suite overlooking the slopes, our room was spotless and very comfortable. The spa was also a real treat, and very luxurious, I would certainly recommend a massage. The real wow however was the food which was simply outstanding, especially the delicious taster menu. I had read on previous reviews that the breakfasts were disappointing so was not sure what to expect - I needn't have worried as it was delicious, plenty of fresh breads, pastries, waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit, meat & cheese as well as hot options.
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and we were made to feel very welcome. I would love to return to this hotel.

Wonderful hotel for my husband, I and our 5 year old to stay at for our first family skiing holiday. As per the previous reviews, location is excellent. Just a few minutes walk to the bottom of the piste and to the town's square with its good choice of restaurants and cafes. The hotel is beautifully decorated in traditional alpine style but with a nice modern twist. We had one double bedroom with a separate smaller sitting room adjoining, two bathrooms (one with jacuzzi bath, one with huge shower, 2 toilets). Nice touches with the Nespresso machine, chocolates at turn down, complimentary wi-fi (only for one device, but it was no problem to provide more), gifts for both us and our son on arrival to the hotel. Lovely views from all sides of the suite, with several balconies. Food was excellent - a good breakfast buffet, with a waffle/pancake chef making to order, also very nice snack food in the bar area by the open fire. The dinner was a bit too formal for us and our 5 year old so we tended to eat out at one of the more casual, local cafes (fondus, racklets, crepes etc) however, it was of a high standard. I did notice that they also provided a separate buffet area for children, with football table game nearby etc, which could work well for those who wanted to dine in with their kids. An excellent spa area and indoor pool. Pool hours are restricted (4.30-6pm on most days, except for Wednesday when they can use it all day) for children but that was fine for us as the times worked well with our skiing and sledging activities. All of the staff from Reception, the waiters, the maids were very helpful, friendly and polite, and very patient of our terrible French! The hotel has its own ski room, right next to the front door & a 2 minute walk to the piste. It is run by a charming couple who were also very helpful and arranged all our equipment, plus lent us sledges as and when we wanted. All in all, an expensive hotel BUT, and sorry to use the cliche, you get what you pay for! Big thumbs up! La Clusaz is an excellent place to go for first time skiers and those with young children.

Room Tip: 211 & 212 corner room, 3 balconies, one double bedroom, one sitting room plus 2 bathrooms &...

The hotel has 2 main advantages: it is actually located at "le coeur" of La Clusaz, and, at the same time, it is at 50-100 meters from the pistes. It's not a true ski-in ski-out hotel, but very close to.
The room was spacious with many amenities. I think the heating system (even if we set the temperature control at maximum) was anyhow not enough to warm the room adequately.
The wardrobe in the room wasn't big enough to put all our stuff inside; I can imagine that if 2 people stay longer, they could find some difficulties in storing their clothes and equipment.
While the valet was parking my rental car in the garage, he made an almost invisible scrap in a hidden zone in the right lower side of the car, but immediately and very transparently they called me to signal me the accident and were ready to take their responsibility.
The restaurant was very good and the dishes were presented very well. We had 2 dinners there.
I recommend to arrange a package with the breakfast included, because it was a very expensive "extra".

If it were possible I would score it 4.75 , a four would be too low so I have scored it a five .
The rooms are stunning beautifully decorated and finished in wood and stone ,all top quality . We booked a room overlooking the square and slopes together with small lounge adjoining that can be used as a bedroom ,it also has a shower and toilet giving us two toilets ,one bath and one separate shower .it is all very luxurious ,warm and comfortable .
Breakfast was good and wholesome ,staff very friendly and helpful.
I wouldn't call it all perfect though . The reception and lounge areas are all a bit airport like , a large open area - there is no quiet guest areas ie ,rooms or library where you can sit away from it all. The restaurant is again a bit airport like it all a bit too big for a hotel that only has 50 or so rooms. There are a number of conference rooms, I can't believe they are used all the time, maybe one or two could be converted into quiet areas. There is a lovely ,leather sofa 'd room above the restaurant but this is for smokers only !
Finally our room overlooked the square where the local rubbish bins and recycling bins are kept ,about 50 m from our room , so every morning around 5.30 am ,including Xmas day ,we were woken by the lorry collections !

Room Tip: Book to the rear or side ,it may be quieter ,but maybe not get the views

Took the gastronomic experience option here for one night. Very smart newly built 5-star with great facilities and slightly funky (but not achingly so) decor. Junior suite was large and comfortable with two bathrooms, good indoor swimming pool and spa facilities.

The meal (ran out of counting the courses at about 7) was a highlight of our 7 night holiday with some genuinely interesting courses, great foie gras, fab langoustines. Overall judged it to be fair value for what we got (around 600EUR for two for the night). Good and attentive staff who genuinely seem to care.

I might even learn to ski if I suddenly come into enough money to stay at this place for a few weeks.

I had the pleasure to stay in this quite new hotel for a business meeting for 2 nights.

Great spacious room with all you need. I think it was the larger part of a suite because there was a closed connecting door. Modern mountain style with a lot of wood. Very comfortable beds.

Bathroom with a lot of little utensils as well as a hydromassage bathtub and separate toilet.

Nespresso machine in the room but no milk to put in the coffee so I did not use it.

I unfortunately had not time to test the spa.

Food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was outstanding, just the waiters seems to be unhappy they had to work. Very few smiles...

If I ever go to La Clusaz for skiing this would be a great choice.
