We had a wonderful 3 night stay with Thierry in late January. The standard of accom was 1st class, the hot tub, the heated pool, the sauna, the 30cm of fresh powder on the night of our arrival, the ski/out access, the 15 minute downhill leg-burning runs made for unforgetable experience; but the food was special! Perfection!

We stayed as a family group of four for 14 nights in early January 2013 and had made the booking based on research through Trip Advisor and I am happy to say that our experience lived up to the high expectation set by so many good reviews.
The owner, Thierry, made the holiday a great exeperience for all our family and was particularly good with our children and assisisting to make sure our ski ing trip got off to a good start.
As many others have said, the meals really are of an excellent quality and would not be out of place in the highest quality gourmet restaurants. Every evening was a delight and indeed all the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful throughout our stay.
We stayed in the small chalet in the grounds and it was ideal for a family group with extra space to strecth out and relax at the end of each day.
We will definetely be returning and if you like to be around a very good character then Thierry really is a great guy to have a lot of fun wth during the stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Till the next time !

Room Tip: the separate chalet for families of 4-6

As a regular contributor to Tripadvisor, my 5 star ratings are few. However, I have no hesitation in awarding the Alpage the maximum rating and I can only repeat the accolades of other reviewers - this hotel really is a jewel in the French Alps. Since our last visit in 2008 the inimitable manager, Thierry, has made many improvements and added his personal touch with a large collection of interesting antiques and artwork displayed throughout the chalet. The cosy communal lounge is set around a roaring log fire where you can enjoy apres-ski drinks - and if you are unlucky, Thierry's bad jokes! Meals are of a very high standard but don't worry if the evening menu is not to your liking because the attentive chef will happily prepare a tasty alternative. The comfortable rooms are beautifully furnished and have stunning views of the surrounding mountains and pistes and the swimming pool and hot tub are very welcome after a strenuous day on the slopes. But we were there to ski and the chalet is ideally situated in a tranquil spot outside of La Clusaz within a few yards of the green run down into town and the Les Laquais lift linking you to La Aiguille, Merdassier and Croix Fry.
Many thanks to Thierry and his team - despite our woefully short break due to delays caused by the appalling UK weather - we had a great time and look forward very much to seeing you all next year. Steve and Jules

I have not been very active on tripadvisor recently, but this very good hotel gave me the motivation to come back and write a positive review. My wife and I spend 5 days in the Hotel Chalet Alpage early Jan 2013 and this was probably among the best ski holidays in years, thanks to this excellent hotel. The hotel is located outside the village, directly on the slopes so we did not have to use our car during the whole week (this may be an issue for people not travelling by car, but this was perfect for us). The Hotel has only few rooms, so there is a really cosy atmosphere. The staff is really nice and the manager of the hotel, on top of having a great sense of humour, is very kind and helpful. You really feel welcomed, almost at home.

The hotel is extremely clean and is very well decorated, both in the common parts and in the rooms. We were two but we had a room with an additional single bed in a mezzanine that could be very practical and entertaining for a child (room 4 – Balme). In terms of amenities, we were really happy to use the large covered swimming pool (heated at 29 degrees), the outside Jacuzzi or the Sauna. The hotel also has an in-house (almost gastronomic) restaurant that we enjoyed every evening.

We will definitely return next year.

Chalet Alpage exceeded our expectations. The hotel is tastefully furnished, cosy and inviting. The bedroom was lovely, spacious and comfortable (and had BBC channel). We were made extremely welcome by Thierry and his team who couldn't do enough to help us, nothing was too much trouble. Every night a 5 course meal was served which was absolutely divine and beautifully presented. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough, whilst the chalet is outside the town it's easy to ski in on a green run. It's a gorgeous peaceful location with a hot tub facing on to magnificent views. I would definitely return, it's one of the best skiing holidays we have had.
