Great location adjacent to both the Diable lift as well the other side of the valley (where you can ski in the morning sun); both lifts were a very short walk.

Staff very friendly as well.

Food - italian. Which means lots of it and very tasty. Glad that we were skiing to exercise it all off.

Internet access - we were given passcodes that lasted for the duration of our visit - hurrah! Wouldn't it be great if all hotels gave free wifi access?

Only negative - small bath, however I am 1.91m tall.

I am quite astounded reading the reviews of this hotel. the 3 stars really are a joke. The rooms are tiny, the bathroom equally tiny but the food was absolutely disgusting. Being italian run we were expecting a reasonable level of food but it really was poor. We normally stay in 2star hotels in Les 2 Alpes and have half board which is normally very good. We return every year but nothing would entice me back to this hotel.

Stayed at Belle Etoile with a friend for a weeks ski holiday. Our delayed flight meant we arrived at the hotel 11pm, we had missed dinner but the hotel manager made sure there was food & drinks in our room. The hotel was clean & comfortable. All hotel staff were very polite & friendly. The waiting staff in the restaurant made dining a pleasure; they were extremely helpful. The evening meals were all very good with a variety of foods to cater for most tastes. The jaccuzi & sauna was an added bonus. I was a bit concerned initially of staying in a 3 star hotel however the Belle Etoile was excellent.

Stayed at La Belle Etoile Hotel from 10th to 17th January 2009, there were 10 of us in all.

The hotel was not too big nor too small and was right in the heart of the town. Despite some sites stating you could ski to the hotel though, this was not the case. Although it was only a 5 minute walk to both the nursery slopes and the main Jendri express cable car. The main manager/owner was helpful and sorted issues fairly promptly. Issues such as the safe in the room not working and heating not working the first day in our room.

Rooms were average but clean and comfortable. There is a lift in the hotel that takes you to the ski storage area where you can also lock your skis away.

It is an Italian family who run it and dont you forget it. We got snarled at for replying to them in French! Although to be fair the staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was good with a variety of cereals on offer and lovely fresh quoissants.

Evening dinner however was on the whole terrible. We were often left waiting well after the time when dinner was supposed to be served. When it was served the anti pasta was nice and starters were ok too. Main course was often cold and lacking though. Roast beef was actually semi cooked cold beef and cold potatoes. We had one nice dessert during the week and the rest of the week were left with fruit to finish.

Gala night was no better.

We ended up eating out 4 nights out of the seven which added a considerable cost to the holiday. Hotel bar prices were far too high, I appreciate the state of the Euro at the minute but 8 Euros for 1 pint of lager!!?

All in all though we still enjoyed our stay and really like the central location and the resort as a whole.

Liam

We stayed in Belle Etoile for one week from 3/01/09 and have nothing but good things to say about the hotel.

Situated in the heart of the centre of Les Deux Alpes, the hotel is well located to access restaurants, shops and bar and of course, the slopes and having hired skis from Alpha sports, was able to pick these up easily en-route.

We didn't expect the height of luxury from the hotel being noted as 3 star, however, the rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, spacious, warm and inviting. The three quarter length bath and lack of shower hook made bathing a little awkward but there was always plenty of hot water and we managed to get by with no trouble. Facilities within the rooms were good with Sky channels available, hairdryers and clean towels each day.

The Sauna and Jacuzzi is a real hidden jem in the hotel, you have to book but its well worth it. Particuarly if you get fed up with the bathrooms in the rooms.

Despite the rather stringent dining times dictated by the restaurant in the hotel - a 1 hour window for dinner and a 2 hour window for breakfast, dining was a real highlight. A fairly average continental breakfast was served each day, which did leave us craving a hot cooked breakfast before a morning on the slopes, however, the restaurant came into its own for the evening sitting. As an Italian run operation, everything that could be expected from traditional home-cooked Italian meals was delivered. The fact we had to pre-select our dining options the evening before was the only real down-point.

Meals consisted of 4-5 courses, including a substantial antipasti selection, pasta- often prepared with fresh pasta and a second course of meat and vegetables. A selection of homemade desserts finished off each meal together with an ample cheeseboard. Portions were generous and the quality, exceptional. We were particularly touched on the evening of arrival when having missed the evening meal due to a delayed flight, Managers prepared a selection of Antipasti, breads and cheese for us to dine on. A very courteous and non-obligatory touch.

We would recommend the Belle Etoile to other couples, groups looking for somewhere close to the centre of the resort making access to night life easy and to those who choose a hotel on the quality of its restuarant.

Just had a week skiing in Belle Etoile
Cosy family run hotel with a jacuzzi and sauna room which you must book in half hour slots per room(though some people did not seem to stick to this rule!).Certainly nice after a day on the slopes
Rooms basic but adequate. Had good shower and hairdryer in room which I know others did not have. Single beds small but comfy enough.
Food was a buffet style breakfast (some ordered eggs and bacon not sure if that cost extra or not).Evening meal was picked the night before from a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses. There was also a buffet selection available before the starter. Some of the meals were very good and some bizarre with no apparent taste. The puddings were certainly nothing to write home about.
All in all though a friendly hotel run by helpful staff.
Nice and close to one of the main ski lifts.
Id stay there again.

La Belle Etoile is sadly lacking in beauty and in stars. The 3* ranking must be due to the swimming pool and tennis court, which are only open in the summer, and not to the bedrooms, bar or restaurant, which are frankly 1 - 2*.

I could be wrong. Perhaps it is different outside room 22, but inside room 22 the mattress is so uncomfortable that I am convinced it is actually made of jelly with a few springs poking through to bruise your ribs even more than your day on the slopes did. The bedding is made of nylon, the lamps look like they will short circuit at any moment and fry you, and the bathroom is "dated" to say the least.

The hotel is Italian run. There are a couple of lovely waitressed who are always polite and will speak to you in French, English or Italian. However they are joined by a number of less appealing others, including the barman who is possibly a distant cousin of Lurch from the Addams Family and who on our first night there, got very upset and angry about not having any 2€ coins for the pool table so could we please stop asking.

Service with a smile is not the ordre du jour at this establishment! However, we may go back, if only for the comedy value of it all.
