We stayed here from 3rd March 2012 for a week, we managed a room upgrade to the 4th Floor overlooking the car park & also the slopes to the left of the room. This hotel is just perfect if you want to be away from the main town and ski to the door from the new (very narrow) green runs.

We loved our stay the hotel staff & bar staff were very welcoming and attentive all week, the in-house, Gym, Steam Room & Hot Tub were excellent.

What can you say about the food except what a fantastic variety, lots of fish but wow what a spread each evening & lots of nice smelly cheese.

We would go back in a heart beat, great place, great snow, great time, want to go now !

Room Tip: Pick the rooms from the 2nd floors up for trhe best views.

We have stayed in a superior double room with mountain view on the fourth floor for two weeks in January 2012. We have absolutely loved it and enjoyed every day of our stay.

Rooms were spacious (please note - superior double) even though there was a baby crib in the room.

The hotel is located at the end of the side street next to the slope. There is a chairlift and ticket office in a stone through from the hotel and it's just a five minute walk to the gondola as well. In the ski storage everyone gets his own locker room. At the end of the day you can ski down right to the door.

I specifically would like to point out dinners at the hotel. Each evening there is a new theme and the food is excellent and never boring.

This was one of the most enjoyable hotel stays ever.

Very impressed with the quality of the service on our recent stay.Skiing on your doorstep, good facilities, clean, very friendly staff, convenient location. Our first floor rooms were above the kitchen so a little noisy at mealtimes but otherwise a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend this very well run hotel. We saw some of the competition and were very glad we chose this place !

Room Tip: Go for an east balcony room on the second or third floor.

I stayed at Souleil 'Or in January having arrived after some of the best snowfall for years. We were very impressed with the standard of this three star hotel and it's great central location. Our room was on the 4th floor ( The lift only goes to the 3rd!) and was very clean and comfortable with beautiful views over the slopes. My one and only criticism of the room was that the lighting was quite poor in the bedroom for reading/ putting on make up etc. The breakfasts were typical self serve efforts with plenty to choose from and quietly efficient service. Lunches were of a very nice quality and we ate on the terrace in glorious sunshine in shirt sleeves which was very sheltered. The bar was extensive and had 'entertainment' of sorts a couple of nights a week. Not my cup of tea but the locals seemed keen:)
The ski lockers were adequate and you could ski right up to the door whilst we were there. It was occasionally a bit tight when busy but the easy access from 2 separate entrances helped. A nice jacuzzi and steam room helped to ease some of my aches and pains though I would have liked a robe to save my blushes en route to the room and you could only buy a robe they were not available in the room.
Overall though I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I would certainly use it again.

We stayed here this past week for 4 nights and loved it. It is situated right next to several lifts and free beginner lifts as well. Ski up to the front door, put your equipment in one of their safe lockers, head into the bar and have a drink; book a jacuzzi time to relax and unwind, eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner with all very good food. A full bar, a nice selection of wines, very family orientated with friendly staff, nicely situated to where everything is walking distance. There is a fireplace on the main floor with comfy chairs to unwind in with a hot drink from the bar. Schedule a massage if you choose; they have a room near the jacuzzi they bring in a massage therapist to use; although not that quiet and my massage therapist wasn't great...We asked for a kettle for our room which they provided. One note I must point out; although there are safes in the rooms, my wife forgot to lock her wedding rings (two diamond rings 3ct) that she wears in the sae when we left for skiing one day. About an hour later she remembered they were left in the bathroom and scrambled back to the room to find that the maid service / cleaners had already been through the room. They cleaned around the rings and left them where my wife left them. This is huge to us as the thousands of dollars we could have lost by leaving them there for any dishonest housecleaner would have been a very sour ending to our trip. Honest people, very safe, clean rooms. Just bring your own shampoo and conditioner as they do not supply those.... ;) Hair dryer, safe, comfortable beds, daily cleaning, enough room for a queen bed, my wife and another twin bed for my 6 year old, right on the slopes to ski in and a two minute walk to the closest lifts...great snow too and the resort is absolutly amazing; just huge!

Room Tip: We were in room # 15; nice view of the slopes, 2nd floor near the elevator...

We returned on 21st January after a week staying at the Souleil'Or. We thought the hotel was excellent - we loved our room which although not particularly spacious, was spotless (as was the rest of the hotel) and overlooked the Belle Etoile chair and pistes. We loved the food (which was of a very high standard) and the variety of the menus - which included oysters and foie gras (not something you come across in your average ski package hotel). We loved the staff who were friendly, helpful and spoke fantastic English and were very patient when we tried to speak French, and we loved the location which, as others have already said, is so close to the Belle Etoile lift, we could practically jump on it from the balcony! Just remember, if you're skiing home, save enough leg power to get yourself down Valentin (black) otherwise you'll be on the chair or even worse, stuck on Desmoiselles with a class of beginners.

The little poma beside the Belle Etoile is free great for beginners (and good fun after a heavy snow fall (2ft on Saturday) if you want to pass time waiting for the chair to be dug out.

NB, as well as being in a perfect location for the slopes, the hotel is also far enough away from the centre of the resort and the nasty bars and clubs that are omnipresent in a purpose built resort, that you won't be disturbed by the drunks heading home.

After a week visiting Friends and Family, My wife and I decided to settle for some quality time (after jettisoning the kids) in les Deux Alpes at the Souleil d´Or.
First, the location: The Hotel is perfectly placed 30 meters away from the 1st lift and the Ski-pass / Ecole de Ski stop, it doesn´t get better than that.
Welcome & staff: The Staff is very nice and attentive - a very rare trait in France and pretty flexibile. They go beyong the call of duty. after a small ski incindent (not in my twenties anymore...), the owner gratiously called a Doctor and dropped me in front of the Office. In addition, you can´t fail to notice that the Hotel is very well organized and managed - another rare trait in France.
The Hotel itself is very tidy, nicely decorated and has the amenities of of 3+ stars with Jaccuzzi and Hamman.
As for the food, we tested the Dinner and the Lunch and the food was of excellent quality.
A very good address indeed.
