“Brilliant apartment gave us a great, flexible skiing holiday”
Reviewed 12 March 2011

This place was brilliant giving my family a good, relaxing holiday. We had a 3-bedroom apartment which had plenty of room for 5 adults (although getting into the top bunk is very tricky for an adult!!). The living room and large dining table were very comfortable and spacious. It was helpful having 2 bathrooms, both with excellent powerful showers and hairdryers. The fabulous balcony meant we went back to the apartment for lunch most days to eat in the glorious sunshine with a great view. The locker room downstairs is useful for storing all your ski gear with very convenient access direct from the street.

One of the beds was broken on arrival, giving my sister a bad first night's sleep. However, we reported it on the Sunday and it was repaired on the Monday so good service on that respect.

The location was great - 2 mins walk from the nearest supermarket and several bakeries, 5 mins walk from the bottom of the red eggs lift (Diable) and the baby slopes, and a couple of nice restaurants nearby (try Crepes a Go Go just on the other side of the road for some great food).

The main downside is that the kitchen could have been slightly better equipped for proper self-catering - it lacked a chopping board, big serving or mixing bowls, decent sharp knives, tea pot & mugs (though I appreciate they're not very French). The reception opening hours were very limited, although we didn't have much need to contact them. The spa could also do with another jacuzzi as both were often full late afternoon / early evening when everyone wants to use them after a day on the slopes.

Overall a great place to stay and we would definitely go back.

I stayed in Cortina for a week with my boyfriend and friends, skiing. We arrived late but the minute we stepped in the apartment we were so exited again. There was seven of us but they put us into an apartment for 12. It was clean, all in wood, had so much space, it was just a winner from the beginning! We loved it every day, the spa was excellent, the jacuzzi as well! The only thing that was kinda shady was the receptionist, she was nice but only cos she had to be. U could tell. Oh, and since the apartments are on the main road bring ear plugs, the people are partying all nite we could't sleep without them! Or you can buy them in the drug store. Partying is everywhere mostly loud British people, buy fresh French bread every day, that's so delicious, if you don't have all the skiing gear don't worry, the local shops have so much from cheap to expencive, better than at home. Most of the local French people speak English, they are very helpful, lots of grossary stores around, bars, clubs, the ski slopes are just heaven, so much space for everybody, go to the top they have the best slopes to ski on there, fitness in another facility just like swimming pool, 25€ for internet per week per computer, free covered parking a 150 meters from the residence, and so much more ...

Overall Loved it will be coming back!

7 of us stayed in an 8 room apartment, consisting of large lounge, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin room and 2 bunk rooms. 2 En Suites and additional toilet and and bathroom. Massive balcony, but did not use as sun had gone down by end of afternoon skking.

Check in was a pain as arrived in resort at midday, but couldnt check in until 3pm, therefore had to leave bags in another hotel.

Facilities of sauna, Jacuzzi, Boot room all excellent. Lifts only a short walk down the road, although it can be quite busy as is only lift for area of the town.

Slopes are fanatastic, be sure to use the bus to go to alpe dhuez also. Only 8.50 for a return trip which takes about an hour. Bus drop off just up the road from hotel.

Nightlife is great, with small or crazy bars all in walsking distance, however would recommend drinking in early on to avoid the expensive bar prices - £5+ for a pint!!

Overall great place.

Stayed in La Cortina in Les Deux Alpes and all was good as per price. Paid about 400 pounds sterling for the week and the apts are clean and well kept with part itme reception. I did nt find the receptionist over friendly when she was there but could live with that. Too used to Irish hospitality I think :0) Apart from that location is ok at the end of the resort, where you can walk to Spar shop in 2 mins and the other way into central plaza where the restaurants and lifts to the slopes are. Advice is to get your skis first day and leave them in the office up the slopes for 3 euro a day. well worth it. Its an all year round ski resort so go whenever ya feel like.Great resort for summer skiing as you get the best of both worlds in that you ski in the morning from 9-12 and then enjoy the sun in afternoon at shared resort pool. once you buy ski pass you can use all the facilities free of charge. European ski school is the best for ski instructors and allesandro had the patience of a saint as we were first time skier ( myself aged 41 and two sons aged 16 and 13) Lift takes 20 mins to get to glacier and the drive up to the resort is a bit hairy but we got thru it with white knuckles lol. all in all a good resort and well worth a visit. La Cortina cheap and cheerful with kitchen fully equipped and balcony with great views and sauna and jacuzzi facilities on ground floor. Booked thru Peak retreats in portsmouth via email from Ireland, who were excellent. Long live my busted up [--] but well worth it, Kids have no fear so were flying by day 2, I was still on the baby slopes :0) Excellent holiday! drop me a line if you want to know anymore..Dave
