“A Little Bit of Paradise”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

A second visit to Chalet Bluebell to find that Jane and Rob have handed over the helm to Hilly and Duncan. Hilly picked us up at the airport at the start of our four day Photographic Workshop. The hospitality is still exceptional with the feeling that you have come to visit friends. They cannot do enough for you and with the addition of Duncan’s amazing culinary skills, it makes for an unforgettable stay. The view from our room was stunning, even though we arrived in very unexpected snow, which caused a few hitches but nothing that Hilly and Duncan could not solve, including Duncan bringing out chains to rescue us off the mountain road very early in the morning - thank you!

If you visit this part of France then look no further for the ultimate in hospitality and beautiful food. You too can become a firm friend of Duncan and Hilly.

Room Tip: When facing the Chalet Bluebell try for a room on the right hand side, which faces down the valley...

It's not luxury accommodation but more than adequate, comfortable and spotless. In all other respects it was luxury. We had all our meals there and the food was wonderful - Duncan is an extremely accomplished chef and as hosts Hilary and Duncan cannot be faulted - nothing was too much trouble. They were friendly, welcoming and attentive without being intrusive and I have no reservations about wholeheartedly recommending Chalet Bluebell.

Arrived by car in Les Gets without having booked accommodation. We stopped at Bluebell chalet at their roadsign "rooms available". Hillary showed us the last available room. Though small it was very clean with excellent beds. There was no chair to sit on (no space for it) but room was very well equipped; sufficient cupboards. The daily offered tea with cake is highly appreciated. You feel welcome! Duncan the chef prepares excellent dinner. Very high quality 3-course dinner including drinks is an amazing and recommended experience. We wish Hillary and Duncan, two young entrepreneurs, lots of success with running Bluebell chalet and their excellent hospitality to their guests. By the way Language weaver translates Hillas name in hillary > hillarious!!

As "old codgers" we thought we wouldn't find much to occupy us.How wrong we were! Hilly and Duncan took us to lovely places---lakes,canyons and rivers, and up mountains!----leaving us to explore,go walking or enjoy a coffee surrounded by scenery which must be unsurpassed anywhere in the world. At other times we did the 7 minute walk to the busy little town, full of shops and cafes, where we could sit and watch the bikers whizzing or tumbling! down the mountains, and the parapenters gliding overhead like huge friendly birds. The weather was superb, and after our enjoyable days we would return to savour our Michelin-cooked meal by the hunky Duncan, and chat and laugh with the international guests. A truly memorable holiday, and very much to be recommended.

Room Tip: All the rooms have open views of the mountains, and are quiet, and well insulated.

We had a great fortnight! Hilly and Duncan are very welcoming, and were clearly determined from the outset to ensure our stay was a memorable one. We had a few minor hitches of our own making, but nothing was too much trouble for them, and really the service they provided was faultless, including rescuing us from various locations by minibus when the local bus service wasn't quite up to scratch. Duncan is a fabulous chef, and was more than happy to tweak the menu from time to time to keep everyone satisfied and very well fed. The chalet is well equipped, although some of the rooms are a little small and despite shutters, traffic noise can be an issue for light sleepers, depending on which room/s are allocated. Good showers, comfortable guests' sitting room well equipped with books, DVDs, games, etc., nice sun terrace, table tennis, sauna, gym equipment, etc. The chalet is very close to the (free-to-use) tennis courts. We often ate our evening meal outside as the sun went down. Access to the laundry room was a real bonus both for our muddy mountain-biking teenagers, and to save us having to use the facilities in the village. Bike cleaning (jet-wash) and storage facilities very useful. Walking into the village only takes a few minutes, but it's worth pointing out that the main road is very busy with cars, lorries and buses - although Hilly and Duncan are happy to provide transport if preferred. Would recommend to families, couples, groups of friends and solo travellers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back where the traffic noise is considerably less. Room 4 has a double bed an...

We would wholeheartedly recommend Chalet Bluebell for a summer stay in Les Gets. The food is fantastic and the accommodation comfortable and clean. The chalet is well equipped with a sun terrace, table tennis table and a sauna. Hilly and Duncan do their utmost to ensure everyone's holiday is a good one, from excellent email communication prior to arrival, to total flexibility, encouragement and organisation of a wide range of activities. We've already recommended it to friends and hope to go back!

Absolutely brilliant! Stayed for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed for a week. Hilly and Duncan are great hosts and made us feel at home - even the cold beer and Kir was ready for our arrival!

The atmosphere in the comfortable and well-equipped chalet is fabulous - feels exceptionally homely and friendly. Hilly and Duncan are a great team with Hilly ensuring that guests needs are catered for and having the knack for knowing just what is required and Duncan effortlessly preparing meals to die for.

Les Gets is a lovely place and there are numerous activities in the area, summer and winter.
Will definitely be returning and will strongly recommend to friends and family.
