“Good location, Food OK, terrible service !!!!”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

After researching which restaurants we should visit during our stay in Les Gets, we decided to try Restaurant du Lac. The reviews looked very promising and it was easy too find about half way down the blue runs to the left of the lift. We got there early about 12 midday and we managed to get a table outside with a great view of the Lake. The restaurant was not particularly busy, however we were ignored for the first 15 minutes. After grabbing the attention of a waiter we ordered some drinks and the food .... not a particularly good selection for kids. As more people arrived you could see peoples impatience starting to show (a lot of grabbing the attention of the two waiters and glum faces !). Our food eventually arrived which was OK, the kids complained about their spicy chicken in cheese pasta .... which was a bit unusual. The wait got longer as our plates were left on the table for at least 30 minutes after finishing the main meal. I tried to grab the attention of one of the waiters but was ignored on at least 2 occasions. Eventually we got to order the dessert. It arrived but the waiter brought the wrong dessert (hot chocolate instead of chocolate mousse). So another wait for a replacement. When it arrived I asked for the bill but it didn't arrive. By this time we had been in the restaurant for about 2 hours, so the rest of my party decided to leave. After requesting the bill for another 2 times, I got up putting on my coat, and gloves .... I practically had to shout across the restaurant for the bill and waived my arms. It eventually arrived, which I paid without a tip. I could see all the other diners were having the same issue, probably due to a lack of staff (2 waiters). In summary, good location, food OK, terrible service .... AVOID THIS RESTAURANT...as regulars to Les Gets we won't be back to this restaurant !

“Beautiful on the slopes lunch spot for everyone”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 via mobile

Visited this lake side restaurant on a sunny day, had table outside and was perfectly sheltered and warm. Easy to access off the slopes on way back to the town. Not the biggest menu but something to suit all. We had a variety of items from salad to soup to lamb confit. All beautifully presented on slate dishes and great portion size. Prices very much same we found to all slope side restaurants. 135 euros for 6 with bottle of wine. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

After a day on the hill and a drink at the top of the mountain, we always, always, stop off at Restaurant du Lac on the way home to watch the sun go down. Brilliant for that last drink of the ski-ing day and a catch up with friends and family, the atmosphere outside is very pleasant and you are rewarded with a stunning view of the sunset down the valley, it sends you back to town in a marvellous frame of mind for the evening.

Great vin chaud and Poire William or Genepi.

I've never eaten there but have only ever heard good things about their food.

“Off Piste chowda”
Reviewed 7 January 2013

Just off the red/blue run on the way home, first plateau from the town of Les Gets sits a beatifully located sun trap overlooking the part frozen lake. Choose this spot for the "big lunch" of the week with the family and was very glad we did. Pleasant service, a very quaffable local brew and plate sized steaks, tasty and cooked to taste.
Not as traditional as some but out on the terrace the decor doesn't count for so much.

“Another year, another round of excellence, served in paradise.”
Reviewed 3 January 2013

We ate here on Christmas day 2011 and again this Christmas day (2012).We returned again on January 3rd 2013. I reviewed the restaurant last year and it did not disappoint this. Superb sums it up! Sandy and the team deserve great praise for making a simple philosophy work; great ingredients, seasonally provided, locally sourced, superbly cooked and served with attention and a warm welcome. Do hold on to this! Our experience, sadly is that a number of the other piste restaurants having fallen to the demands for fast food. Not so here. You might pay a little more, but it is worth every cent/penny. The location is a dream and we really do feel as if we have been fed in paradise.
We will be back next year for sure!
