I stayed here in march with some friends as a base to ski in the grand massif. The hotel was warm and welcoming. Our twin room was clean with great views of the mountains, and a lovely balcony. The food in the evenings was much better than expected for a 2 star hotel, although during our stay the restaurant was quiet and the bar empty so perhaps lacked atmosphere. Breakfast was very good, good choice, and amazing croissants! It was a 5 min walk in the am down a steep lane to the ski bus stop which took us to the lift in about 10 minutes, walking up the lane in the evenings after a full days skiing was hard on the legs!! The hotel was about a 10 min walk into the village, which is a lovely small French mountain village with lovely shops. I would love to return to samoens and would stay again in hotel edelweiss.

We had a room where the outside wall was one big window. This gave us a great view of the mountains and we were woken up by the explosions from the pisteurs (to trigger avalanches). This way you know there is fresh snow and that makes you get up faster.
Breakfast and other food is great. A lot of localls go out for a meal there when they have something to celebrate. It's just above town so offers you great views and it's still within walking distance. Samoens is a great little town with a lot of history.

I would like to write an informative review of this hotel but because our flight was delayed we were unable to stay.

The hotel was most unhelpful, we called to let them know that we would be arriving late (around midnight) and were told that there was "no solution" to leaving a key or finding an alternative hotel. They were most surly and unhelpful.

Luckily we found an alterative at the neige et roc hotel who were most helpful and offered us a room. BEWARE!
