We are a family of four staying here over Christmas 2012 and we are very impressed by our lovely 3 room apartment for 6 people on the top floor in D block. We have lovely comfortable beds, most welcome after a hard day skiing on the Grand Massif. The apartments are warm, secure, quiet and clean. They are well located, being within 5 (10 minutes in ski boots) minutes walk of the Samoens telecabine and ten minutes walk from the charming and authentic French village of Samoens. You can order fresh bread every day with collection available from reception from 7.30am.

Our apartment has a small kitchenette, dining room table to seat 6 and a sofa with pull out single bed in the front room. We have a balcony with a superb view out over the mountains. Each block has an underground entrance to the car park, along with ski lockers for each apartment.

The spa facilities are really lovely with a nice pool, jacuzzi, steam rooms and saunas. Decleor treatments are available to book for a special treat.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are best according to the owner

Nice apartments, fairly new and well equiped including the kitchen. . Spa and Pool are superb, great to relax in after a days sking and spotlessly clean. Communal lounge on ground floor, stylish and inviting in front of the wood burning fire. Rooms well laid out and adequately sized with tasteful decor. Integrated car park in the basement is accessed by a lift so no walking in ski boots as those are dried each evening in the bespoke boot room with automatic boot driers beside the ski lockers. Modern gondola is a five minute walk so Residence is well positioned and if walking in boots is not your thing a large car park is adjacent to the lift or you can take the ski bus. The express lift takes under 10 minutes to the plateau although you cannot ski directly back to the valley floor so the lift is used also on the return. . Residence is 10 minutes walk to the picturesque town centre of Samoens - more a large village. Few people are disappointed with Samoen.

We spent a week here and loved it. Excellent location - beautifully quiet - a real haven. Top tip is to discover 'Le Veau Gras' - traiteur partenaire - early on in your stay so you can buy in home cooked meals each evening at good prices, and to go for at least a 3 bed apartment - not least because the 2 bed place we stayed in was a bit small. Service was lovely, and the pool / spa area beautifully cleaned every morning. Our only recommendations would be for those invited each Sunday evening to brief in both languages as to all there is to do in this lovely village. Bi-lingual pitches will benefit all concerned. And on departure morning, it all felt a bit unmellow having loads of people checking we'd cleaned the kitchen area OK - slightly at odds with an establishment which in every other aspect was emphatically 4 star. Overall though, we can't wait to return.

Room Tip: 3 bed minimum to be sure of having more space.

Agree with most comments in previous 2 reviews in that property was clean, well equipped and situated. Staff were helpful and spa is excellent.
We were 6 adults in a 3 bed appt. Edelweiss Aptt 1. One en-suite and one extra shower room and separate loo. The bedrooms are small, could only just squeeze between beds and wall. There is a wardrobe, but a bedside table with drawers would help with storage. Could not have coped with 8 adults. One sofa, one armchair and a couple of stools just about allowed us to sit down in the evening but not really comfortable.
Space is probably what you expect in France but property far smaller than North American condos.
Village is a delight. Great pizzas from open brick oven in La Louisiane. Also recommend La Tornalta. Great main courses, sweets not so special. Great atmosphere and the work rate of the maitre d/waiter is a show by itself. Booking essential in both.
Property is close enough to village, local shop (full of local cheeses and meats) only 3 mins away. Turn left at first roundabout for Irish Bar on right and further up on left for very helpful local butchers. Worth exploring village for other bars and cake/chocolate/local food shops. Very quiet at night, but a nice cosy feel to the village.
Property claims to be 300 metres from ski lifts, it might be that distance from nearest point to car park but it must be 600 yards from our appt to the lifts. But walk is flat and we bought lockers at Samoens 1600 from Skiset. Lockers at prop are fine with boot warmers. On sunny days head for Flaine and spectacular views all around you. Tree lined skiing to Morillon and particularly the 'Canadian expereince' down to Les Carroz was very pretty. Skied once down to Vercland, bit of an adventure, needs plenty of snow to get down this low.
Overall - would liked appt to be just a bit bigger but represents pretty good value.

I went here in a group with 2 children under the age of two and it was fantastic. The apartment we had was really clean and spacious - room for a travel cot in each bedroom. The kitchen was small (in 2 bed apartment) but more than adeqaute, really very well equiped with utensils, dishwasher, microwavwe, oven etc etc. we were able to cook for every night with no troubles. Also they provided the travel cots and highchairs for the children all free of charge.
The complex itself was lovely, again very clean and the communial area very spacious with comfy sofas and big fire. The pool is better than it looks in the pictures, large enough for lenghts but also fun for children. There are two jacuzzi's, steam rooms and sauna's which means there is plenty of room in the early evening rush period.
The location is fantastic, short walk on the flat to both the slopes and village. Can easily get to both without needing the ski bus. Heated ski and boot room with boot warmers was lovely to start your day skiing.
Really really pleased with it and we are seriously considering making it our regular ski base as Samoens is a lovely base with lots of good intermediate skiing.

Room Tip: we had a ground floor room which had access to a garden area which meant the kids could play in the...

This place definitely deserves it 5 star rating, and I would definitely go back. There were only two of us and we got upgraded to a 4-6 people apartment, so that size apartment is what I can base this review on.
The layout is about 7 different chalet style lodges, each only 3 floors tall and is built from stone, as all good places in Samoens are, and then finished with wood under the roof. It looks very attractive and it should be said in keeping with Samoens which is definitely one of the nicest skiing resorts Ive stayed at in terms of asthetic appeal.
One of the major benefits of staying here is that the reception is open all day, so if you arrive early or want to leave late you can leave all your bags in the main reception area. This reception area gives a great first impression with welcoming sofas arranged around an open fire. This is the also where you go to get to the swimming pool & spa facilities.

Our apartment was equally well furnished with quality wooden furniture and very comfortable beds. the whole places feels new, but without feeling clinical. Our apartment block had about 12 apartments in it, so not too many people to disturb you and despite the fact that both our neighbouring apartments had kids in, we never heard a thing. There is pretty much everything you could ever need in the apartment, and our only small complaint was that the oven was quite complex to operate (and we are normally good with technology!!) as it was some sort of combination microwave oven, and that the kitchen knives were very blunt - in fact the dinner knives were better in some cases! But apart from these minor issues, everything was perfect.
You are even provided with 2 tea towels and washing up liquid and sponge, so no need to worry about cleaning products if you come by plane as we did. The only thing you are expected to clean are the cutlery as well as empty the dishwasher and bins - so again no need to waste luggage allowance with that, or even waste precious time away cleaning up.
The apartment was so welcoming that despite planning to eat out more, we only ate out once at Table de Fifine, which is right next door to the chalet, and is excellent. It isnt the cheapest, 60 euros for 2 people, 2 courses, but it is brilliantly decorated inside and all the plates and things they serve your food on seem unique too.

Another benefit of this apartment is the bakery service, so every day from 07:40 you can go over to reception and collect whatever bakery items you have ordered, and for not an expensive price either. So fresh french bread, without the walk in the cold - fantastic!!
Each apartment block has its own ski room, and you get your own lockable ski cupboard with the heated boot racks to dry and warm your boots each morning - is really good.

The swimming pool is a decent size, and the whirlpool and steam room are super. Everything is really clean and was never busy when we went, which was at 17:00 ish when you would expect it to be busy after a day on the slopes. You can also get in and out even if all the changing rooms are in use as there is a door at the end to avoid just this problem - its not obvious, but it is there! I cant comment on the gym as I didnt use it, but there definitely is one.

I actually liked where the apartment is located as it is nearer to the ski lift than virtually any other place as it is out of the main centre of the village. Is probably about a 400m walk or so there, so not too bad. The apartment is probably about the same from the centre of the village in the other direction.

The staff are all fantastically friendly, and all speak great english and always do what they can to help, which was good to know.

My final point would be that these apartments are perfect for Samoens. Dont come to either if you want wild night life and lots of apres ski, but come if you want a quiet, comfortable & relaxed holiday in a beautiful region with access to a superb ski area.

Room Tip: Dont worry - they all seem great.

We had the pleasure and privilege to stay for the whole month of January 2011 and feel very qualified to say that this is the best accommodation I have had in the Alps. CGH have perfected the quality of residence-all wood, glass and stone so 10 out of 10 for aesthetics (important to me). The leisure area is fantastic, perfect after a day on the slopes-Spa is a must, and underground garage links to the spa/leisure area without going overground, great in bad weather/wearing only a light clothing! Apartments are perfectly appointed (en-suite in master bedroom) but I have to say that the staff really made our holiday. They were all, without exception, professional, wonderfully warm and friendly and efficient. I could write all evening about the wonderful service and experience we had, suffice to say we will be customers for life (as long as the staff stay so wonderful!). Perfect location next to the GM Express "bubble", heated boot warmers in lockers-tons of storage, bakery items delivered to reception each am. Really, it is the best accommodation in the most perfect location. Samoens is a wonderful/beautiful village-use "Zig Zag" ski school -an amazing company , and eat in "Mezzanine" and "Le Bois De Lune". Somebody told me you'll come for a holiday and want to stay and I understand that now-no longer interested in 3 Vallees/Espace Killy and the like, give me Samoens/Grand Massif area any day. Oh, and the ski "lifties" were the friendliest I've ever come across, treating my 4 year old like a VIP. Samoens, deservedly, has the "Famille Plus" award and the locals were so friendly. Looking forward to returning, sooner rather than later.
