We went here in a large party. This is a small restaurant in winter, so understandably you're squashed in a bit, but the lovely old room makes it feel quite appropriate and not uncomfortable. The food was great, although the menu is limited if you don't like cheese. No meat fondue / pierreade options for example. We had great difficulty with the service however. We rang early in the morning to reserve, at that point they wanted to know how many fondues we wanted. Difficult at breakfast time to answer, but this is a small restaurant and so we thought about it and let them know. They were strongly of the opinion that children who hadn't had fondue before shouldn't have fondue, but we decided to let our children try one between three, and said that they'd also share some crepes. When it came to it, they were right and the fondue didn't go down well with the children. They didn't take orders for the crepes among some of our party, and it took considerable persuasion to convince them to do so, and when we eventually got our order taken, the proprietress/ chef came out of the kitchen and gave us a piece of her mind, saying that she had already cooked fondue and so she couldn't cook any more for us. She did eventually come up with the crepes however. Later she said to one of our party that you should never order fondue for children. The overall experience was marred by the cross owner and her very rigid ideas about what people should and shouldn't eat, and a surprising lack of flexibility. In the end we were so keen to get out we didn't hang around for sweets. Also we had been told when making the booking we had to get out for 8:30 as there were other people booked, but this was evidently not the case at the end. Overall it had a slight feel of Fawlty Towers and being under a lot of pressure to conform to some invisible set of rules that we were not party to. Anyway, all the other reviews seem positive, so maybe we hit a bad night. I have to say that I am not someone who normally has a problem in restaurants, but this experience was very unusual.

Delicious fondue (book ahead and choose what sort of fondue you want) followed by a crepe filled with white chocolate, lemon sorbet and vodka - my idea of heaven. The filling selections for the crepes is amazing. A must if you are in Samoens and like crepes.

We ate crepes with smoked salmon and with a goat cheese. We felt sick after it for two days. Our 3,5 years daughter was very bad. I can't recommend this place.

Having eaten myself stupid in Samoens, a light crepe or 3 was a perfect dinner. A one woman band, in a tiny but lovely room, sitting on little stool with a glass of cider. good fun and highly recommended.
