“great family ski trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

We booked through club MMV direct. For February half term we feel got a good deal and found the whole trip was great. We were the only english in the hotel but we were made to feel very welcome by staff and other guests. It was all inclusive with great food. We didn't use much childcare but they took and collected kids from skischool and gave them lunch which was very handy.
The rooms interconnected and were quiet despite being on first floor (we had emailed asking to be away from bar area)
Almost tempted to give a bad review to keep the place to ourselves!

Room Tip: ask for interconnecting rooms and ask to be away from bar

The hotel is situated in a small village, if you don ´ t have a car you will be stock from the central ski station ( cinema, ice rink, swimming pool...) The hotel doesn ´ t have a service of bus , you need to pay a taxi (30 pound one Way) , and you need at least 20 min driving. You can take 2 telecabines but they open at 9 am and close at 4.45 pm. The animation is not very well organise for adults, during the day and the night. Just few music and no night shows. The food is good but if you have food allergy ( like milk) or if you are vegetarian you don ´ t have a lot of choices. Just one small soap in the bathroom. I was also surprise that the clean staff come to knock at the door to clean the room at 9 am the 25th of december!!

This was our first trip to Tignes and we booked through Inghams, full board at Club MMV.
This was also our first time travelling with Inghams and I'm afraid our experience with their reps wouldn't have us rushing tot ravel with them again.
We flew into Geneva and had a significant wait there until our bus was ready to leave (several hours). Then, after travelling for less than 1 hour we stopped in a McDonalds, an unnecessary delay I believe. All this delay, you might imagine, would have left lots of time for the Inghams rep to look after the travellers on the coach... That was not to be! The rep had very little relevant info, ran out of credit card slips so couldn't take lots of peoples bookings, didn't know prioces for equipment hire and actually quoted us a higher rate than we got in the shop. She also didnt even get to speak to everybody on the bus, such was the inefficiency.
When we arrived in Les Brev, we were let off the bus away from the main entrance to the hotel and it close to an hour to check everybody in. We were also asked to pay a local tax (which was eventually refunded) which we shouldn't have been.
The Inghams rep who was there wasn't able to tell us anything about the hotel (I believe we may have been the first Inghams group to stay there) and equally couldnt tell us about ski hire options.
The hotel room was basic but mostly clean. There is no soap provided and there were times when the water wasn't hot. Also, the door to the adjoining room was actually unlocked so we had to ask staff to lock it. However the room was warm and the size not bad at all.
The food here was pretty much the best thing. There was a huge selection for breakfast and dinner and while it didn't change much over the coarse of the week, i have to say we never went hungry. Vegetarians were catered for, though sometimes there wasn't a veggie 'main', but the selection of salads, soups, breads, pizza etc was more than adequate. There was also unlimited wine with dinner, which was most welcome.
We chose to take lunch with us each day and a buffet lunch was set up at breakfast time so we could help ourselves - this was great.
The evening entertainment in the bar area each night was aimed mostly at the french families who stayed in the hotel. There were a lot of kids and it was boisterous at times but we stayed on the 3rd floor so the noise didnt keep us awake. We particularly enjoyed trying to work out what games the entertainers were playing and were impressed with the crooner who showed up in black leather gear replete with tassles and snarl.
The hotel is very close to the slopes (3 min walk) so skiing out and back is possible. The weather was 50/50 while we were there and we had some excellent snow and sunshine mixed with days where the fog/snow rendered visibilty next to zero.
I would recommend Tignes more for intermediate/advanced skiers. The grading of the slopes can be misleading in some cases. Some blues can be very tricky for beginners and there was limited blues/greens within easy access for the learners in our group.
Our return transfer was yet another example of how Ignhams information service left a lot to be desired. Our rep (who we incidently did not see at the hotel on any night during the week) had told us that he'd have info to us by the Thursday evening. On Friday night a note was pasted to our room door stating the time of bus departure but no location or any other info. We then had to figure out by ourselved where to go (a walk away). The rep who was there never checked our names/destinations etc and seemed disinterested in the role he had. The bus was 30 minutes late arriving and this left us very close to the wire for getting our flight. Inghams had not taken into account the Geneva Motor Show which was happening that morning and so we got caught in traffic and were at a standstill for a long time. When we arrived at the airport the rep made no reference to the fact that our check in time was imminent and gave us no assistance at all. We literally checked in with minutes to spare before it closed.
Overall I would happily stay in MMV again and feel we have a lot more of Tignes/Val D'Isere to explore. I would be very wary of travelling with Inghams and feel that given this was the end of the season, they should've had any niggles regarding info etc ironed out by this stage.

Room Tip: Our 3rd floor room was quiet, away from the bar area.

Located in the small village of les breviers, Near Tignes this hotel is part of the big MMV Club Hotel chain. Unfortunately the hotel is poorly organised and we were left waiting an hour to get into our room upon arrival which in the end was just after 6pm. Other guests that arrived after us were allocated rooms and the reception staff were just rude and unwilling to help despite the fact we had been travelling for over 11 hours to get to the resort!

The room was small and stains could be found on the Pillows on both beds! The significant thing was that there is NO Soap provided in the rooms for guests which can encourage poor hygiene and a potential outbreak of illness throughout the hotel. Even the most basic of hotels provide Soap for guests.

The rooms also have waiver thin walls so you can hear guests in adjoining rooms, as well as any activity in the bar/entertainment room. The showers were a lottery as to whether you get hot water and very often these were cold which is not a good thing after spending a day on the slopes.

The food at the hotel is served as a Buffet and the choice is very good, however, you have to go through several plates and items of cutlery to find something clean. In the dining room we sat near the window and the discovery of very old bits of food down the sides of the radiators show that cleaning and hygiene is not a priority in this hotel. The priority seems to be more towards the large band of entertainment staff who put on shows for the mainly French guests.

Checkout time is at 9am which makes it even more shocking that within 9 hours our room still wasnt ready upon arrival. Al in all this is the worst hotel I have stayed at for a long while and that includes even the most basic of hotels. If this was in the UK just on health & Hygiene alone this hotel would be closed down.

After this experience none of our group (6 in all) will ever return to an MMV Club hotel I think a one star hotel would be able to do better and more importantly offer a higher level of customer service to its clients

Room Tip: Top floor is noisy and rooms next to nearby lifts have the ongoing noise of lifts all night long

Dear Guest,

We are very sorry you were not satisfied with your stay in our Hotel.

It seems information about check in and check out was not enough clear, we apologize about this: rooms are available at 6 p;m; on the day of arrival. We try our best to make them ready earlier, but if the hotel is full it is of course more difficult. Check out time is 9 a.m. for the same reasons.

Soaps and bathroom amenities are available upon request at Reception desk: according to our green policy, we do our best to reduce waists, this is one of our actions to help.

Whenever a guest finds stains on pillows or sheets, we are more than happy to change them immediately upon request at Reception.

Regarding cleaning of plates and items, our catering team has been alerted to pay more attention on this point, which is very important to us.

We hope, despite your remarks, that you had a pleasant stay in the French Alps.

Best regards,

The Guest Relation Manager.

My friends and I have just returned from a skiing holidays at the MMV Les Brevieres Club Hotel in Tignes. The description of the hotel provided below are accurate. However we were very dissatisfied with many aspects of our experience with Ingham travel as follows: Other than enquiring who was interested in hiring skis (don't hire on the coach, they are cheaper in resort), or purchasing a ski pass (same price as resort), the Ingham Travel representatives provided no information whatsoever on the coach, they were unable to answer any questions, neither did they welcome us to Ingham or the resort, or tell us their names “so we made up our own”. On arrival at the hotel we were each levied with €6.5 each at the hotel. The €6.5 was not an issue to us, however we were surprised to be asked to pay the extra tax on a package holiday, if we had been informed of the charge on the coach, this may have helped. We askedthe Inghams representatives to clarify to the charge with the hotel staff, however there was no French speaking rep in attendance, therefore this was not possible. The reps left without providing information about; the resort, the facilities in the hotel, dining or check out times etc. On the second day of our holiday one of our party was seriously injured on the slopes, after some time and many attempts our party organiser managed to contact a rep, apparently he was too busy to help quickly and arranged to come over to the hotel when it was convenient to him, which apparently was mid-evening! Fortunately the insurance company provided support via telephone.
On the return journey we were collected by a mini bus and taken to the main coach, when the mini bus driver pulled out from the village road onto the main road, he did not check for traffic properly and if it had not been for the prompt action of a van driver, the coach would have collided with it. In all we found the experience to be a shambles, we are all experienced skiers and have been on skiing holidays many times, I shudder to think how families on their 1st ski break fair with this level of service. We typically take up to 3 skiing holidays each year, we will probably return to the hotel however we will not be returning with Inghams.

Room Tip: Don't book with Inghams Travel

This hotel is all-inclusive - full board (and drinks) and entertainment! The rooms are basic. No balcony and a small window, but we were only in the rooms to sleep, so not a problem for us! The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the quiet village of Les Brevieres - the northern extreme of Espace Killy, but we are all good skiers, so it didn't limit us in any way. We'd definately come here again.

Hotel is situated in a quiet village, and was very lovely to stay in if your after more of a peaceful holiday. The rooms as others have described are basic but adequate, you have everything you need and with 2 of us we had plenty of room for all our boards and bags, no balcony but as we spent all our time on the slopes we didn't have any need for one. The food in the hotel was a fantastic buffet selection, vary varied and enjoyable, I personally don't like fish and on some nights this hotel has a good fish selection but there was always plenty of non fish dishes, plus unlimited wine with your meal was lovely. The evening entertainment was 'interesting' but the French holiday makers seemed to love it - cabaret (basically 3 Women dancing to English music), Karaoke, live music, etc. The Apres Ski was also fantastic, right at the bottom of the slope is a bridge where the cafe on the corner has claimed half of the bridge for Apres Ski, how could we not stop each evening for a mulled wine or beer when the view was so lovely!! As the bridge in the Summer is actually a road, this would be different in the Summer months! A lovely holiday was had, we enjoyed ourselves, we booked with Crystal so all the transfers were included plus we went on their 'Tigne' pub crawl as a way of experiencing a night out in Tigne as the buses don't run down as far as Les Breviere, so you do have to catch the lift up to Tigne 1800 if your on foot and planning to visit Tigne 2100, which you can only do by day. We enjoyed the fact that the hotel was French and not just full of English tourists
