We travelled as a large group and had exclusive use of the chalet. We had been to Tignes two years ago with the same group of skiers so were aware what a great location Tignes is for a large group of mixed age and ability.
On arrival at Chambery we were informed that there would be delay as a result of a landslide which had closed the main road into Tignes. We were kept informed and were provided with food and drink at the airport. Eventually we were only delayed by two hours so not really an issue and outside of every bodies control.
When we got to the Chalet we were surprised to be told that the chalet hosts were not expecting the two extra children that we had booked. We had been told that extra beds and linen would be provided but whilst the beds were sorted out the extra towels etc never arrived during the whole week despite daily requests.
The Chalet itself was very tired. Most rooms had at least one draw or shelf that was broken and there was generally a feeling that as we were there for the last week Ski Total simply could not be bothered to address these items. We even had a broken cooker in the corner of the living room which had a table cloth over it to hide it! For a limited outlay and a little effort most of these problems could have easily been addressed however the fact that they weren't demonstrated Ski Totals apparent total disregard for their clients.
We had read trip advisor before we went so we had some concern about the fitness centre. We specifically asked Ski Total the week before we went to confirm that the hot tub and sauna were in working order and were assured that they were. On arrival however we were told that the sauna was out of action and had been for several weeks and that one of the water jet motors in the hot tub was broken so it was really more like a large warm bath than a jacuzzi. As a result it was hardly used during our week.
Whilst the food was superb the kitchen was filthy and we took it upon ourselves to clean it as best we could. We were also surprised to be told that there was no budget for coffee but we were provided with some on day 4 of the holiday again after several requests.
The Chalet itself was very well positioned with only a short walk to two of the main chair lifts with access to red and blue runs and only a slightly longer walk to some green runs if there had been any beginners in the party. There is also an excellent free bus service which means you can get to and from other parts of Tignes very easily.
Overall we would recommend Tignes as it has a massive ski area and something for everyone. The Chalet itself is well located and could be great unfortunately having been with other companies previously we will definitely not be using Ski Total again. The description and the photos in the brochure are limited and are not a full Reflection of the property. The general aparthy of the company towards the property's condition and welfare of their clients was extremely poor and could not be recommended.
