My wife and I have just been to the hotel for a short break snowboarding while the conditions are still good. Firstly the location was brilliant from the ski room you are ready to hit the pistes within 60 seconds, as for getting back you can get the very last chairlift of the day (so you maximise slope time) and ski right through the platteau and directly to the ski rooom, then you have 10 paces down to the room....... DONE !! NOt only is the location brilliant for the slopes bu you are absolutely smack bang in the middle of the town with both shopping centres less than 1 minute walk away, not to mention all the restaurants and creperie's that are scattered around. The hotel is simply cool with redisigned rooms, we had a privelage room which was extremely comfortable with a seperate room with sofa etc in it, gave us that other space to goto when needed, saying that the lobby is such a calm and relaxing placee to be you would not spend much time in the room, every evening we would spend in the lobby on one of the sumptuous sofas sipping hot choclait after hot choclait, one thing that was important for us was that we have noticed that mst Ski hotels have rooms that are too cold and lobbys that are so hot and stuffy you just dont want to be there, this is the exeption, the rooms were just right and the lobby temprature COZY just perfect. The room was clean and also followed the simple cool modern design of the rest of the hotel. The Spa is fantastic and the pool/wellness area a real treat at the end of any hard day on the slopes. Also very clean and tidy. Breakfast had all you would want or need and no skimping either, if something ran out it would be promptly replenished, from the braekfast room you look out across the main platteau and can see the day starting with people milling around and prepping for the day outside. The staff are very attentive and nothing is a problem, just ask and they do their best. We were lucky enough to be met by the manager Mr Antton Duhour, as good as a manager can be from the perspective of a client he did all he could to keep us happy and seemed very genuine with it too. This hotel is a cut above the rest, to anybody thinking Val Thoren this is the one, i would say go for it, you wont be disappointed, it make sthe whole holiday a pleasure from getting on and off the slopes, to the service, the pool, the food, the rooms, the great lobby and the staff...... go for it and if you get a chance try and say hello to Mr Duhour, do so he wont forget you !
