Had 4 nights at Altapura staying in a Duplex apartment with my daughters and a friend...the hotel is beautiful particularly loved the decor in the bar area..front desk & concierge service was excellent.
The staff everywhere were very friendly and professional.... in particular the ski shop and restaurant staff were very acomodating.. the position of the hotel is fabulous, and the ski in/out to slopes from the ski shop just ideal...great buffet breakfasts and buffet dinners, great for kids and adults. Excellent stay overall will definately be heading back there.

Room Tip: We had a double duplex room for 4 very comfortable.

I just came back from a week at the Altapura. The staff is very professional and friendly. The buffet breakfast and the dinner at all of the three restaurant is delicious.
The room is very nice. The only negative comments on the room is that the bathroom can been seen from the room which is rather ackward.. The room is only done once a day, which is suprizing for this level of hotel and the way it is done could be improved (pijama thrown on the sofa and not folded). A nespresso machine in the room would be a plus.
The ski shop is very nice as well as its staff.
My stay started badly because the taxi I had ordered from the concierge was not waiting for me at the Moutiers train station. With two small kids and two suitcases, that was rather unfortunate. But the hotel fixed the problem and we managed to arrive. Apart from this issue, everything was perfect. The spa is nice and staff is very good and friendly.

I would certainly come back!

I stayed here with a couple of friends, sharing a duplex, for 4 days of skiing in VT. With few exceptions, the level of service was first class, food very good (especially breakfast buffet and the a la carte restaurant), and accommodation exceptionally comfortable. The spa was a welcome retreat for weary bodies after a day's skiing, the lounge a homely place to relax at any time of day, and the terrace a superb spot for watching the world go by in the sunshine. With original and attractive decor throughout, and an on-site ski shop, Altapura is a thoroughly recommended 5 star experience.

We just spent 7 nights in Altapura. It was awesome. It was already the 9th year we spent our skiholliday in Val Thorens but, concerning the hotel, far the best. The staf is very friendly and professional but lacks some experience. Our daughter got ill and had to be carried to a hospital. My wife asked one of the staf to order an ambulance but ...... 20 minutes later nothing was done. I needed a car to rent and asked the concierge. He sent me to Albertville by taxi but i couldnt find a free car. Why sending me to Albertville then?

The restaurants.
Les enfants terrible is very, very good but also expensive. We had four times dinner and where never disappointed. Excellent.
2 mille 3 is another story. When you order from the card it's excellent but when you Have to eat there as half board customer ir' s another story: lacks flavor, not refined and like in a refter.
La laiterie is a fine chees restaurant with several kinds of fondu.

The bar. Very nice life music. But much to expensive.

The Spa. One word: great.

All by all a very nice hotel.

My husband and I went skiing for a week staying in the hotel. The buffet breakfast and dinner in 2 mille 3 restaurant is perfect to prepare you for the slope or help you wind down in the evening. The variety and daily options are really good and you can eat as much as you like. Service was a little slow sometimes when trying to order drinks but you always got a smile.

The weather was quite poor so we spent most afternoons reading by the log fire or in the pool/jacuzzi. The hotel has everything you need for your stay.

Room Tip: All rooms face the slopes but maybe those nearest the lifts are more sheltered.

Firstly, I would like to thank all the professional members of Frederic Carbonnel’s team at the Altapura hotel, following a delightful stay at your ski resort in Val Thorens.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Julian, who took our luggage and then we were shown around the hotel and its facilities by another member of staff.

As a restaurant owner myself, first impressions are always important and my expectations were more than met in that sense.

Every day was faultless, with attention to detail from the greeting of residents to the cleanliness of our rooms and the foyer. It really did feel like the perfect stay.

The 2Mille3 was well organised and the selection of food was excellent. Being an English breakfast connoisseur, it was pointed out to Frederic and his chef (apologies, his name escapes me!) that a simpler system could well be put in place, to help ease the congestion for the pre-piste crowd.

Les Enfants Terribles was flawless and La Laiterie was a pleasant surprise too. Perhaps an idea for La Laiterie might be to offer a meat stone raclette, in addition to the fondue, having experienced this over six years of travelling to the Savoie region?

On a personal note for Frederic, I found him to be the epitome of professionalism and I cannot speak highly enough about his approach to the job. His effort made our time at Altapura feel effortless and wholly enjoyable.

Room Tip: Your family may experience altitude sickness and dry throat at night. Advice!! close the air flow he...

We got a good deal on booking.com which was a promotion for a short time. Then, when we arrived - we were upgraded to a "duplex" room. Good start. The staff was nice, quick and very helpful. Check-in took a minute. They took our bags, parked the car and we were in our room in no time. Nice room, 2 floors which was almost like to separate rooms. Each floor had a bathrrom, TV with computer. Free wi-fi. Great views to the slopes.
We only had breakfast in the hotel which was great and had anything you could think of.
The ski-in ski-out was very comfortable. The SPA after a day's ski was excellent. A nice warm pool which has the other end of it outside in the open air. Hot tub, nice big wet and dry sauna rooms.
The only downside is that the hotel is not a short walk from the center BUT there is a shuttle which can take you anytime you want to and from the center.
