Good place to stay.
If location is important, this hotel is fantastic!
The hotel itself offers a good standard of accommodation. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The room we had was reasonably sized for an alpine hotel. It was clean, had enough drying space (important!) and had a good sized bath. The temperature of the room was just right, not too hot or cold. It also had a choice of pillows.
All bedrooms in the hotel face the piste. This means that they are quiet at night, you should not hear late night partiers returning to their own dens. The only noise is the 7am pistie beater doing the first run of the morning.
Breakfast is simple; continental plus either fry or boil your own egg. Coffee is good and orange juice of a reasonable standard –not freshly squeezed.
Evening meal is good. Five courses starting with a large tureen of soup. The starters and main course were not fancy, but well presented and varied. The cheese course and deserts were from the buffet table, both offered a very good choice.
Every Thursday is Fondue evening, you have the choice of either meat or cheese. We went for the cheese option and found it to be really good.
Service in the restaurant is good, having a buffet option for cheese and desert certainly helps.
Some reviews moan about the vegetarian option. My wife does not eat red meat. The hotel catered very well for her offering fishy options at all meals.
Both wine and bar prices are very good for alpine accommodation. Good local wine costs from 15 Euro a bottle and a pint of Kronenberg 1664 was 5 Euro. This is half the price of similar hotels in the area.
I recommend ordering a cocktail from the bar, these are freshly made and of very good quality.
Overall, for the price, this is a great place to stay.
Last year we stayed in the 3 Valleys hotel. Not a bad place, but really pricy (bit of a rip off for beer and wine), very noisy at night and what a terrible afternoon treck from the piste.
The skiing is fantastic. Go for a 3 Valleys pass as it is easy to find yourself crossing the border. All resorts are great. Due to the size, queues are minimal, even at half term times. For an excellent lunch time option go to Les Menuires and the restaurant at the bottom of the Granges lift –fantastic onion soup!!
