Stayed here over New year for one week skiing with children (10 and 12) and dog!!

Positives

Frankly everything as described on booking. Larger than many ski apartments - second bedroom in our case an odd shape - like a wedge - so difficult to walk around one of the single beds but plenty of space and storage was good in both rooms.

Check-in very quick even though we arrived at peak time - I did get he impression though that we were lucky - there seemed to be a lot of people "loitering" in the reception area not looking too pleased....

kitchen area had everything you could have needed - big fridge, full oven , hob and dishwasher. "Welcome" pack of cloths, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid very good idea.

Bathrooms good - not huge but fantastically hot towel rails got costumes and towels dry super fast.

pool/Spa area were nice and generally not too busy.

Restaurants and bar what you would expect from this kind of hotel - nice quality decor and good if not memorable food.

Ski lockers fantastic - large with boot/glove heaters that actually worked - a first for us after about 10 years family skiing. All advertise but few deliver!!

Underground parking great - trolleys available so easy to get everything to/from your room. Don't be tempted to save 20 Euros and park in the general parking it is soooo not worth it.

Ski in ski out very good - bit further down the piste from the hotel got a bit mogully in the afternoons where it narrowed so complete beginners may have struggled but great int he mornings when the piste bashers had been out.

Wifi excellent - we were told on arrival that you could only use a couple of devices on it - apparently not they gave us two sets of codes which served up to 6 devices - enough for most families I should think.

Negatives

Because the hotel/apartments are built on to the mountainside and there are about 5 exits from the hotel at 3 different heights it did lose a bit of the cosiness or central feeling that many hotels have - we were on day 5 when my husband asked what the reception and bar areas were like - he had never been there!!

Not much work surface in the kitchen so you do have to use the table if you are cooking a full meal.

Why only seating for 3 in the living room? Bizarre. Not even another chair to move from one of the bedrooms so someone always had to sit on the floor or use a dining chair.

No hot water first thing in the morning - did complain about this on day 3 when there was still no hot water at 10.30 and they changed some of the settings so it did get hot earlier . Staff were helpful but I find it odd that in a quality establishment you cant have hot water at any time of the day!!

Location : not right in the middle of the resort so a little walk to the centre of val thorens although there was a supermarket only 5 minutes away if you exited out of level-6. Upside is you got good views from most rooms I imagine.

Room Tip: Car park and ski in ski out on level -1 - consider this if quick access is important. Level -6 and G have pedestrian access also but lifts sometimes quite busy so if you want to get out skiing quickly you'd do well to avoid the lower rooms.

I just got back from the most wonderful winter-honeymoon with my wife in Val Thorens! We stayed at one of the smaller Kashmir apartments (as some are suited for up to 8 people), and had a blast.

Everything was super neat, clean and chic, we could literally ski right out of the complex, and the view was splendid. It was the first time we didn't have to beat ourselves up for not bringing slippers, as the place has UNDERFLOOR HEATING. Grrr!

If you are ever considering to treat someone special - this is by far THE place to go to. The staff were friendly, and the indoor pool was a true delight at the end of each day. Actually, I must admit we missed one skiing day, just because we wanted to get spoiled a bit in the complex..

If you can find a good price - it's the vacation of a lifetime!

We were overall really pleased with this hotel. Very welcoming feel on arrival with nice rugs, lovely lights, helpful and responsive staff, very well maintained feel and quick check-in. The apartment was a reasonable size compared to other ski places we've stayed, including enough storage space for clothes, bags, etc. and the towel heaters were great. Our balcony had a great view of the slopes.

Having the ski shop in the hotel is great and the staff there were especially helpful. The sauna and pool were great though one of the three saunas was not working. We found the pool temperature to be fine though agree it would be nice if it was bigger. The staff happily leant us a snow shovel and allowed us to build an ingloo. Bread delivery every morning was well worth having.

Having ski in ski out was just great, but it's definitely not suitable for novices as the run outside the hotel is a bit steep and gets quite mogulled in the afternoon. However this was solved by the ski instructors offering to collect our kids and take them via an easier though longer route. Returning to the hotel was also fine for them as a bubble stops just yards above the hotel and you can easily walk or snowplough across.

We only had three complaints - one very annoying (shower), two minor. The en-suite shower in the main bedroom took ages (around 15 -20 minutes) to run hot whcih felt like a crime to run all that water away. The hotel tried to fix it several times but couldn't and said they couldn't understand it as we were the only ones with the problem. Second (minor), the room was too hot and we struggled to control the temperate until we rang reception and they explained they controlled it. They did then reduce the heat but we had to keep asking for it to be lowered and sometimes had the windows and doors open. Finally (minor) the ski locker did not have rubber mats so the floor quickly got covered in water that melted off ski boots and skis meaning you had to take extra slippers/boots to the locker or get wet feet. If it wasn't for these three things we'd have given it five stars.

We chose the self catering 2 bedroom apartment option for our family skiing holiday. Good, very comfortable facilities in room, although it would have been nice to have DVD player in main room rather than in the bedroom. Wifi, pool, restaurant, bar, fitness suite all great! Good ski to door location even for first time skiers (our 4 and 7 year olds managed after a day or 2). Staff at hotel were always friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile! Town not too far away, few minutes walk, but not a problem.

When you arrive at the hotel it gives you a very luxurious feeling. The 4 people appartements are big enough but the downside is that the bathrooms are very small with saloon doors that are very unpractical in use and heard when in use at the neighbours. There was also no extra toiletpaper and the staff who cleaned the rooms didn't noticed so we didn't had any at one point. We booked the hotel with a half pension arrangement. Breakfast is good but diner is absolutely horrible! very expensive and not enough. We paid 16 euros for a shrimp on a tootpick (I'm not joking) and 29 euros for a dry chickenwing with a salad without vinegrait and rice. Offcourse we complained and that's when it became clear that there was no managment to manage the hotel and it's facilities. the swimmingpool was ok but it felt like a fishbowl because it was divided from the lobby with a big window. The saunas were nice but I really missed a jacuzzi in there. I think you shouldn't book this hotel with food. I'm certainly not going back to this one!
