We stayed in Koh I Nor for week in Feb on half board. Room good but no tea/coffee making facilities nor drinking water. Location good for slope. Restaurant far too small for capacity of hotel. Half board is very disappointing: no coffee after the meal; no cake/coffee off the slopes; wine list extortionate (min 55 euro, average nearer 100); drinks in bar extortionate (g&t 18 euro and badly made). SPA good but only capacity for 10% of guests - lots of jostling for limited seats / recliners. Staff pleasant.

We don't mind the price but value for money is poor - you need to assume an extra 70+ euro per person per night if you want a pre-dinner drink, wine, water and coffee with the meal (and that's with half board already paid).

Dear Guest,

We are very sorry to read your comments about your experience in our hotel. Your very short stay didn’t probably permit you to have a real view on our services.
What you describing in term of “food and beverage bonus” is expected in all “all inclusive” hotels, (free coffee and cake included in half board…) which is not what we are proposing in the Hotel Koh-I Nor.
In term of restaurant capacity, 2 restaurants are available, with more seats than the number of hotel beds.
If for any circumstances, you were disappointed by our hotel, we are again really sorry about that. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you for another stay and hope that this time you will be able to have a longer stay that can allow you to enjoy high quality of the services offered. With our warmest regards.

We stayed for the week before Christmas - it had just opened. We chose Val Thorens partly because we could rely on the snow, and mostly because we knew the GM from their previous hotel in Corchevel. This new hotel is a spectacular design in a spectacular ski in / ski out location. The bedrooms are top class and perfect for skiing. The spa's are 'to die for'. The hotel has extensive sun terraces and expansive glass - to enjoy very sunny views. The hotel organizes as much or as little as you want - transfers, lift passes, ski hire, lessons, you name it. All you have to do is ask. the main restaurant is elegant and the food and wine superb. Personally I found the bistro second restaurant a bit charmless, but others didn't. As always the hotels are made or broken by the staff - but Marie Josee runs a tight ship and has many loyal staff - no problems there then. The hotel runs an excellent shuttle service the 200m down hill to the two main town centres - close enough to go out / shopping etc - far enough to hush out noisy bars and revellers. I would stay again ...

Room Tip: they all have a great aspect looking over the town and valley

We enjoyed very much our Christmas week stay at this hotel - Despite the fact made its grand opening only few weeks before we found the quality and also the attention from the staff were very good - Rooms are very nicely decorated equipped and cosy - Spa / pool staff and equipment are excellent - Main restaurant Manager is very professional and a very interesting character who like to share his love of cuisine to his clients - He is a character for sure and you will easily recognize him with he special moustache so called " bacantes" in french - We mainly enjoyed the restaurant " a la carte" for diner and all meals were outstanding supported by one growing Chef in the region -
The Ski boutique is also managed by very professional and kind staff pay attention giving you the right equipments-------- all was not perfect though and i expect some adjustment to be done ;;;;;

Staff at the reception seemed always bit busy and stressed ( may be due to the newly opening)...
Breakfast was also a bit disappointing .....did not feel that yoghourt were at right temperature control and some were out of date ...... not a bit deal but to be corrected ASAP -

Overall design of the hotel was good / original and good mixed between modern design and Moutain atmosphere BUT i have a big question mark for the design in next to reception area .... this red sofa and some of the furniture are too close from a basic IKEA style .....i believe small adjustment will make it looking much better ..... also please for next year put a real big massive Christmas tree !!!! the one this year looked like a old tree ... you know the one which is left aside in the shop that nobody wants :-))

overall again we enjoyed our time and our stay and would recommend this hotel to our friends who can afford it :-)

Despite the hiccups (it seems to have opened unready), loved this hotel, the interior uses modern eclectic and classic design, contrast of texture, in the rooms, apartments and public areas. The rooms and apartments are new so still well maintained, The staff are all friendly, helpful and polite (from all departments). The bar and lounge are cozy. The restaurant has excellent food and service. The swimming pool and sauna are well appointed. The GM needs to walk around this property to address all structural issues.

I write this review while still at the hotel, but I can genuinely say this has been the best hotel for numerous reasons. The staff were very welcoming on arrival, room fantastic, breakfast excellent, but most importantly there has been no hassle with regards to the skiing. Hiring the skis from the hotel and the fantastic locker room, your own locker which is heated for your boots and gloves is fantastic. Again the staff are so helpful. Well done and already looking forward to returning. Nigel Thompson
