Stayed in Club Med Val Tho for 7 days with a group of 23 people. We had such an amazing time, they looked after us very well, especially I would like to mention reception manager Sebastien who was very attentive to any requests we had at all times and in the restaurant Gaston(Ben) and Raoul that are very genuine, attentive, always smiling.
We had a great time specially thanks to the 3 of them so look out for them on your stay!

A good week although weather a bit variable. Food consistently good and plentiful. The oyster night is a winner! wine distinctly average.....could do much better here its France after all!!!!!

Club Med staff very helpful especially the ski team and reception.

rooms are small but adequate its a French resort so the Brits just need to try harder!!!!

excellent mix of guests we met some really nice people

Very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty to eat and drink all day long. Lots of variety in food, mostly quite good. Annoying negatives: had to pay 20 Euros for completely unreliable Internet that needs to be reset constantly. Rooms (very) small but comfortable; just no ventilation without leaving windows open - towels never dry on their own.

Stayed over Christmas and had a great time. Very friendly staff, very friendly international mix of guests, fantastic ski in/out location. Food is normal Club Med 3* standard, which is great. I've stayed at a lot of the Club Med ski locations - this one is in between the party/drinking madness of Arc's Extreme and the romantic chilling out in the 4* in Meribel.

The rooms are standard French small i.e. you can just about walk round the bed. They suffer from the usual lack of hanging/drying space. I would say that this is perfectly acceptable for this price point and no different to anywhere else.

As for the skiing, well Val Thorens is an area of the Three Valley's I haven't had adequate time to explore before and skiing from the door means you can be up at the top of the world (3200m) in about 30 minutes ... and there is a lot of new territory to explore round there even for those who have been to the Three Valleys many times.

Conclusion: you've got to go stay right in Val Thorens at some point for the skiing and this Club Med location is a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: If you want a lovely room with more space (and don't mind paying a couple of hundred extra) go to the 4* at Meribel (or any other Club Med 4*)

Had a horrible experience at this resort in January 2013 - rooms are small and dirty, heating is on only at certain weird hours - Staff at the hotel is unfriendly and speak very bad English - you ask them something in English and they reply in French - how unacceptable is that??? Even the shows/ performances in the evenings were in French (I visited other ClubMeds before and the performances were definitely in English!) Its a skiing resort in France, but it doesn’t mean that only French people come there! Truly disappointed with rudeness / unhelpfulness of personnel at the resort.

Moreover, ski instructors were communicating to us in FRENCH - I am a beginner at skiing and how am I supposed to learn to ski if Ski Instructor does not try to speak English? I think its Dangerous not to explain to a beginner how to mount his ski equipment etc. Only after a few requests from me to get instructions in English language - instructor made some effort to speak to us in English (but their English was very difficult to understand!)

Truly disappointed, will not come back to this ClubMed and will advise all my friends/ acquaintances not to either (unless they speak perfect French - then they will be welcome there , I guess!)
