“stay in a four poster bed”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

Just returned from 2 nights in the yellow room at Cambo. One of the largest bedrooms we have ever stayed in the four poster bed was very comfortable. So impressed with the history in the house. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We walked in the gardens and saw the tail end of the snowdrops wonderful. Nice little café near the garden centre where we purchased a plant to remind us of the wonderful time spent there. Plan to take our two daughters and granddaughter. Would recommend a visit and a stay over is a must.

Room Tip: The yellow room was warm and comfortable with a nice view

Sadly we didn't stay at Cambo, but enjoyed an afternoon visit. Food very good value in the café and lots of choice as far as plants and snowdrops were concerned to buy. At this time of the year the snowdrops are a picture. However, there is so much at Cambo that a visit at any time will be worthwhile.

Just returned from a first visit and 4 day stay at Cambo. Wonderful accommodation in the warm, comfortable and superbly equipped "Lower Servants" quarters where we enjoyed relaxation around a roaring coal fire (fuel included) in our lounge area each evening. The snowdrops throughout the grounds are indeed spectacular and so many varieties to see as you walk around the wooded area and the lovely gardens around Cambo House. All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and we can unreservedly recommend a visit and stay in this wonderful place. We would certainly hope to pay a return visit.

Room Tip: The "Lower Servants" and "Upper Servants" quarters are up a flight of stone stai...

First visit to Cambo but will definitely make a point of returning. Visited on a beautiful Sunny day which helped considerably. Snow drops were spectacular and I had no idea there were so many varieties. The walk down to the beach along the wooded glen with thousands of snow drops in full flower was very spectacular and the soup and home baking in the cafe got our vote as well. Spent a small fortune on plants in the shop and they look brilliant planted up in our garden and certainly give some early spring life and colour to it now. Overall a very enjoyable day out in a lovely tranquil setting.

Room Tip: Add a visit to Anstruther to your visit and a trip to the Anstruther fish & chip shop to make it...

Had a lovely walk along the coastal path at Kingsbarns this week and stopped off at Cambo to see the snowdrops and have some lunch. Havent been there for about 20 plus years. Lunch was really nice, good home made lentil soup and a roast beef and salad roll at a reasonable price. The snowdrops are fabulous and there is a beautiful quilt in the shop depicting snowdrops. We will definitely be back.

We attended St. Andrews for a graduation ceremony and as usual needed somewhere that took dogs. We chose this one because we also live in a place called Cambo, they had a doggy room and it was only 5 miles from St. Andrews.

We arrived late and worn out after a longer than expected trip (nightmare three hours around Edinburgh, Glasgow and 4th road bridge).

The room turned out to be a small apartment, kitchen and small lounge area, all very welcome as golden retrievers and their luggage tend to take up most of the space in hotel rooms.

Sir Peter had dogs, horses, hens so very animal friendly. Fantastic walks on the estate, garden, coast, very friendly, helpful staff and made to feel at home in someone else's home.

Not suitable if you can't manage stairs and you don't have to mind the musty smells of older properties but high on the list of 'doggy establishments' we have stayed in. Garden shop, gift shop and walled garden to enjoy. Would make a lovely summer visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Orchard Room, designated for dog visitors. Did not see other rooms. Lovely view in...

What a special place. We absolutely loved our stay at Cambo. Staff & owners are welcoming warm and accommodating. The rooms are beautifully decorated with high end furnishings. It's very clean with all the fixings one expects in a high end hotel. The food was delicious. We organized to have dinner. We highly recommend if you can to have dinner. The food is the best we had in Scotland. Cambo is a very special place it's hard to put into words how special it is. This is an experience that should not be missed. We loved walking the grounds the gardens the beach the horses. We were sad to go but we promise to return.
