“Quiet country retreat”

We had a lovely weekend of old world charm in Chapelwick. Our room was immaculate with a beautiful sea view. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the warm and cosy evenings in front of the fire. We also enjoyed exploring the remote 'off the beaten track' area of Porangahau and Herbertsville. Definitely planning on going on back.

Had an amazingly relaxing birthday weekend at Chapel wick . It was wonderful to lie in bed and see the sun rise from the sea. Lovely to wander around the immaculate grounds with Monty the dog in tow. Really enjoyed our 2 hour walk along the isolated Porongahau beach. Room so spacious and quiet 2 nights rejunenated us it felt like we were away for longer.
Lovely heathy continental breakfast in the conservatory was another highlight so relaxing. Raewyn and her husband were friendly hosts.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay revived our jaded nerves quite a have or peace and beauty.

Room Tip: Stay in the Hunter room if you can . fridge was handy to store a picnic lunch

What a fantastic place to relax and revive. Being able to walk through the gardens and fruit trees guided by 'Monty' the dog, soaking up the fresh air was a lovely time.

We enjoyed the ability to meet people from other countries over the breakfast table. Raewyn cooked a delicous dinner which we enjoyed around the dining table with other guests, hosts Raewyn and Rod, and some of their local friends.

Raewyn gladly supplied Devonshire tea for our visitors at lunchtime, making them very welcome.

We will return

Room Tip: The Hunter Suite is the place to be.

We have just returned from a birthday weekend at Chapelwick. What a fabulous place and such welcoming hosts. We had a lovely evening meal which was shared with other guests and Raewyn and her hubby. We spent a relaxing evening around the huge dining table swapping stories and enjoying good food prepared by Raewyn. The weather couldn't have been better and we did trips out to Havelock North and the local beaches. I would definitely recommend Chapelwick for a peaceful and restful break away from it all. To sum up, perfect location, house and wonderful hosts. We will definitely return in the not too distant future. We stayed in the Hunter Suite - quite wonderful, thank you Raewyn..

Room Tip: The Hunter Suite had its own balcony and en suite, facing out over the gardens to the sea. Would rec...

My Partner and I stayed here over the weekend. As it was our early Christmas we decided to go to a more quiet spot, we found it! Chapelwick is a stunning old guesthouse (that is massive!). The owners went out of their way to make our dinner romantic once they found out it was for our early Christmas together, and the food was great!

I wont bore you all with a massive novel, all you need to know is the place is welcoming, spacious, and despite been far removed from any town of note there was plenty to do.

All in all we give Chapelwick 5 stars due in no small part to the owners hospitality and wine choice. If I could offer one tiny suggestion that is a detailed map on your website please.

Warm Regards,

Elaine and Rob

Thank you so much Raewyn and Rod for making my weekend stay so comfortable and enjoyable. I just wanted a weekend to enjoy peace and the beauty of this land and I found a very versatile setting and welcoming smile from Raewyn, the hostess and exquisite chef, and her husband Rod who was such an entertaining host. The house is lovely and the beds are extremely comfy - I haven't slept this well in a long time. Dinners and breakfasts offered a great selection and were accompanied by cheerful conversations and travel advice from our hostess. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all. The setting is lovely and the house is grand.

We had a great time at Chapelwick, the accommodation is beautiful and the attention to detail was great. We were welcomed on arrival with delicious cider and chocolates, and Raewyn was very accommodating. Dinner, dessert and especially breakfast were delicious. We highly recommend a weekend at Chapelwick for a short, relaxing getaway, and would love to stay again ourselves.

Room Tip: The Hunter Suite is beautiful
