“Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2013

Hotel Punta Negra is a nice hotel with a fantastic location on the cliff with an extraordinary view of the Mediterranean sea in front. The hotel is close to the airport with a comfortably 10 minutes drive.
The hotel is not a typical hotel for families with children, but with the pool and the beach at the hotel its quite ideal if you have small children and wants a quiet vacation. The hotel does not have elevator, so be prepared to lift if your stroller if you have small children.
The wifi is good, and it was no problem getting online with ipads and smartphone..

Room Tip: Room with sea-view, the ones on the other side is looking at the hotels parking.

We have spent an excellent week at Punta Negra. Good rooms, nice bathrooms, excellent pool and just at the beach. Very friendly staff - and Gian Franco at the bar will make the most fantastic Martini Royal

In front of the sea, surronded by a large pine forrest. Fantastic location at short distance from the center of Alghero and the airport. Opportunities to walk or run in the forrest and along the sea.
Personnel at the reception has been extremely kind and helpful. The structure is not very modern but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Very nice swimming pool area with the opportunity to have lunch on the terrace in front of the sea. After months of bad and cold weather we thought a lunch on the terrace under the sunshine was a nice gift. To end price was very convenient, value for money.

My friends and I have just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Punta Negra. We had originally booked at another hotel in Alghero itself but were moved to this hotel due to refurbishment. Although we would not have chosen this hotel due to its distance from Alghero , we were all pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The welcome from the staff on reception was friendly, helpful and efficient. The staff overall could not have been more friendly or helpful. Our room was adequate, spotlessly clean with a brand new bathroom. There was also a balcony area and I would certainly recommend booking a sea view room if you are able. There is a fabulous terrace overlooking the sea where you can enjoy a drink, bar prices were very reasonable and the bar staff, like all staff we came across at this hotel, were very friendly. The pool area was immaculately clean set amongst beautiful gardens. Breakfast was more than adequate with a good selection of fresh fruit, bread, pastries, cereal and eggs etc. We did not dine in the restaurant in the evening as we like to do our own thing. As to evening entertainment, probably due to it being low season there was just a piano guy playing in the lounge bar in the evenings. This was fine for us but don't go expecting wild entertainment and discos etc! The hotel is too far to walk into Alghero but we took a taxi at 20 euros. We also took a 10 min walk into Fertilia, to a lovely restaurant recommended by the helpful receptionist. Apart from this restaurant Fertilia has nothing much else going on! We only heard a couple of aeroplanes overhead and they didn't spoil our stay although this is still low season and maybe air traffic increases as we head into summer. Overall we had a lovely stay at the Punta Negra and would certainly consider returning next year.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room

This hotel has absolutely stunning views. We were very happy to have picked it. It is a 5min walk away from Fertilia so it is easy to walk down and take the bus to Alghero. Taxis to town cost 20 euros. and there is a lovely cycling route from the hotel to the two nearby beaches - Lazaretto and another one I cant remember now! You can hire bikes at the hotel for 6 euros for a half a day.
The hotel staff were very friendly and always helpful with decent english and I didnt have any complaints. The room itself was functional with nothing special except the views but we didnt mind. The swimming pool is also fantastic with an infinity pool and a spacious poolside for another pool. We went in spring when sardinia is not very busy so it was relatively empty which was great for us. It was unfortunate we went in Spring when they dont clean up their beach so it was quite dirty and we couldnt really use it. Im sure its lovely in the summer.
The only thing is the food which was quite terrible. But this shouldnt matter too much as people tend to eat elsewhere most of the time anyway. However, if you are staying here and dont feel like leaving the hotel, there is NOTHING else around so you are stuck with the food.
All TV channels were in Italian and couldnt switch anything to English. We were probably the youngest people in the hotel though as most of the visitors there seemed to be pensioners. The entertainment at night is also targeted at the clientele I suppose with a cheesy piano player and singer.
But having said everything, we had a great time and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view!

Having seen the photo of the Hotel before arrival, It was a shock to see it on arrival!....rather dated, sterile, in a bit of a time warp! ....... What it lacked in the decor department was compensated by very helpful staff and very clean rooms!
The pool area was functional with a wonderful view but the weather sadly stopped us from enjoying it. The photos on its website are extremely flattering, personally it was more than adequate for an over night stay before a very early flight the next morning from Alghero airport which is only 10 mins away.
Would I choose to spend a summer holiday there.....absolutely not, it is in the flight path of the airport, obvious in its location but curiously not mentioned on its website.
The plus is the town of Alghero, only 15 mins away is lovely, very Italian not touristy and a part of real life rather than the Costa Smeralda in the north of Sardinia, which is the home of the jet-set and super-yachts.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a lovely sea view, otherwise you look onto the car parking area with a fe...

I chose this hotel for my first vacation in the north of Sardinia because of its position. The hotel is just 10 minutes away from one of the two main airports in the northern part of the island,10 minutes away from Alghero city center, in an absolutly calm area surrounded by pine trees ,greenland inside and the sea in front. The hotel is ideal both for staying in all day long with two well cared swimming pool on the sea and a private beach just under hotel rooms, and for excursions to nearby cities and small towns, many incredibly beautiful places in the north of Sardinia are reachable in daily trip from the hotel.Anytime you arrive in the hotel you just feel safe and at your ease. The staffs are friendly and efficient, always available for help.Genuine, fresh, high quality food is served all day long in the neat and spacious hotel restaurant/bar,and most important, every day you have different menu choice! The guest room is very quiet so high quality sleep is guaranteed in this hotel.Strongly recommend this hotel for vacation.
