“Friendly service, great restaurant”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

A warm and friendly welcome followed by a warm and friendly service by the entire staff throughout our 4 day stay. Very nice and quiet location a few minutes drive from Alba. Very well kept hotel with all facilities. We especially liked the cool, quiet patio and the restaurant terrace with great views of the hilly landscape. Excellent restaurant, where we had the best meal of our 18 day trip through Italy and Austria. Highly recommended.
Tip for other guests:Have lunch at the restaurant terrace.

We were looking for a nice place to stay close to Alba where we had booked a meal at Piazza Duomo the next day.

The suite we had was wonderful and spacious and modern. The hotel is an SLH and we were warmly welcome. We had reception to help us fixing a problem we had with the highway authorities (no ticket was dispensed at the toll on our way there) and they gladly obliged and assured us all was in order.

The ground are beautiful and from the room you have a very scenic view of the Langhe. The restaurant was nice enough although after returning from Mirazur in Menton, we were not really on the lookout for a heavy meal.

Recommended nice and warm hotel with charm. The pool is heated which is definitely needed as the weather in the hills is not necessarily perfect. This is the only place where we had rain and fog in the middle of june in our 2 weeks holidays, so a heated pool comes with welcome relief.

The location and overall resort was excellent. The food quantity EXCELLENT! The service within the food and bar area could be improved. One example, we received out check for dinner prior to receive our final drinks and desert. Then upon receiving them we he no silverware to eat with and this took several minutes to get after we requested some. One addition house cleaning issue, our shower/tub was quit dirty when we arrived but was taken care of. Overall I would recommend but they need to pay attention to detail to be a great resort.

This is a beautiful and elegant hotel near Alba. The scenery from the hotel is stunning. The rooms are large, modern and tastefully decorated. The staff is friendly, efficient and they really go out of their way to help you. Breakfast is excellent, with expressos and cappucinos made to your order in one of those classic expresso machines.

We stayed in Villa d'amelia in early May as an alternative to staying in central Alba. The hotel is relatively new & extremely well built in a sympathetic country house style. Our room was large, clean and very well appointed. The bathroom was excellent after a couple of other stays in hotels with tiny facilities.
The restaurant is extremely good. Attentive staff & food above the standard we expected from a one Michelin star chef.
We would definitely return when visiting Piedmont next time

On a last minute, weekend trip to Italy, the hotel was unfortunately booked but we sampled lunch in the restaurant. The hotel itself sits in a wonderful location with sweeping grounds & extensive views. In September, it was just a little chilly to sit outside, there were mists in the distance.
The restaurant itself had the perfect, contemporary but comfortable decor for us, I loved their glass wall cabinets full of glasses!

We opted for the €65 tasting menu which was supposed to be four courses. They brought some little appetisers to start with, & we actually had two desserts, so it ended up as a six course meal. We were then invited to finish our wine in the courtyard on very comfortable sofas & they brought yet another little plate of sweet delicacies with coffee, so all in all, 7 courses.... unbelievable value for money.

The staff were all very pleasant & when it came to leave, I was able to take away a menu as a memento of a superb afternoon.

The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that in all honesty, the cuttlefish dish & the spaghettoni sauce verged on bland... I see that some experienced reviewers also commented on this, where full flavour is sacrificed in favour of presentation. However, it didn't detract from the fact we had a truly enjoyable experience & it felt like a real, leisurely treat. We would go back again.

We spent there a long weekend with a group of friends. The hotel is lovely, the rooms and bathrooms are roomy and except for the television that in my opinion was too small, I had no complaints! The restaurant is superb, we had an amazing dinner and the breakfast is excellent. The morning I left I had sunny side up eggs with truffle! The gym is not up to par, but the sauna, the steam bath and the hot tub are really good. There is an outside heated pool that a friend of mine enjoyed, but for me was not warm enough!
