We stayed in the Granary Cottage for a week in end July 2013. As a famlily with a 12 months old boy, we found the self-catering cottage perfect for our requirements, fully equipped, nice books, no china on display that can be broken by a toddler, doors (e.g. to stairs) can be properly closed. Apart from the terrace, which has a steep drop (explicitely pointed out by Kiloran on her homepage) we think the cottage itself is fairly children-safe. Kiloran was very helpful with any kind of issue or question we had. Quite a number of superb gastro pubs and restaurants can be found in the villages and towns nearby. The Feathered Nest (Nether Westcote) just under 8 miles, the Kingham Plough, Kingham, less than 6 miles, the Seagrave Arms in Weston Subedge (16 miles), very nice pubs in Stow-on-the-Wold (2 miles) like the Bell etc.
The area is beautiful and offers a lot of places to visit and opportunities for nice walks. We only regret that we didn't try Kiloran's breakfast, but prepared our own.

We recently spent 3 nights at Wren house and were made very welcomed by Kiloran and on our daily return from our sightseeing her welcoming cups of teas were appreciated. We certainly gained from her local knowledge of where to visit and where to eat ensured that we made the most of our time at Wren House. We appreciated Kiloran's respect of us needing 'a night off' and were able to stay in one evening and baby sit 'the girls'. Thank you Kiloran. The McFarlands from Mudgee

Room Tip: If staying longer then Three days would recommend the Granary for the week because of Donnington'...

We recently had a wonderful week staying in The Granary, a beautiful restored building which delivered everything we could have needed. Very well equipped and an extremely comfortable huge bed in a bigger than average bedroom, Lots and lots of storage space, we loved the excellent lighting too. The kitchen is compact but to be honest who wants to spend lots of time in there when on holiday? We never tire of staying in the Cotswolds, lots of lovely places to visit and gorgeous villages. We were greeted by the owner Kiloran who left us alone but was only steps away if we did need her. Thank you Kiloran, our stay was perfect and maybe we will see you again one day, we certainly hope so!

Room Tip: You also have your own very private garden with table, chairs, loungers and bbq if required.

Wren House is even more beautiful and inviting than I had imagined it would be and it's châtelaine, Kiloran, a gracious, witty and well organized host. She went to great lengths to help us make the most of our two days in the Cotswolds, providing maps and suggestions for our day trips. We would have never found the wonderful restaurants she sent us to and she even called ahead to make sure they could seat us. Our room on the upper floor with en-suite bath was super clean and charming and came with a view of Kiloran's amazing front garden. Among her many talents she is an expert plants woman. We slept soundly and awoke to good strong coffee and a beautifully prepared breakfast made with the freshest ingredients including homemade jam and marmalade. My husband and I agree that we could not have had a better experience and only wish we lived in the UK so we could visit Wren House again and again.

Room Tip: We loved our upper story bedroom and bath tucked under the eaves and would choose the same room agai...

A belated review from our stay in early July. Our second time at Wren House (we stayed in Wren House itself last year as B&B guests, while this time were in the Granary self-catering cottage for a week), and again a peaceful and lovely experience, helped by great weather. Both Wren House and the Granary are excellent, with little touches that make the stay that bit better. Kiloran is a generous and gracious host, her labradors friendly and enthusiastic, and her garden beautiful. Tasteful decor, good books and pictures, the Costwolds on the doorstep. Definitely worth a visit.

Room Tip: Decide if you prefer B&B or self-catering, both great. The B&B breakfast is yum.

Myself and my wife stayed here for a birthday getaway on July 19th and 20th. We really enjoyed our stay and had a really nice sunny weekend in the area, we only wish we had more time to relax and enjoy it a bit more. We drove from Bhx airport which took approx an hour and it was easy to find the B&B. we were greeted at the gate by Kiloran and her lovely Labradors who made us feel most welcome. The property is very cute and quaint and really homely we stayed in a cosy double with en suite on the second floor with a nice view of the colourful garden. Upon welcome Kiloran sat on the patio with us and we drank cordial and had a good chat and were made to feel right at home. We were out quite a bit so didn’t spend an awful lot of time in the B&B but when we did it was most enjoyable very welcoming and involved with the chats around the breakfast table with the other guests etc. It felt like a home from home if you like that sort of thing rather than being anonymous in a big hotel etc. We had fresh flowers in our room, books and magazines and wifi available. The dogs were fantastic and so well behaved and friendly and overall it was just a nice place be. Breakfast was very good, with fresh fruit and cerials as well as cooked items if you wanted, orange juice, tea and coffee etc. the location is also quite close to Stow and other neighbouring villages. We would recommend staying with Kiloran and will again if we are ever in the area. Thanks Eddie and Dawn

Kiloran's home looks like a cottage but is very gracious and spacious within. She is the perfect host and made scrumptious breakfasts with fresh local produce. Guests gather around the big farmhouse table in her lovely kitchen to share plans for the day. The garden in July was splendid and there were lots of places to sit and read or just admire the flowers. The village is tiny (no pub or shop) but is quiet and scenic with lovely walks. Kiloran knows the area well and was really helpful with restaurant recommendations and reservations. (We loved The Bell at Stow-in-the-Wold) We felt like house guests and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a twin-bedded room on the third floor and it was perfectly fine. We had the windows ope...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Wren House Bed and Breakfast is a charming 15th-century house in the small and peaceful hamlet of Donnington barely two miles from Stow-on-the-Wold. There are three double bedrooms and three dedicated bathrooms, one en suite, each with large and very comfortable (everyone says so!) kingsize beds and feather duvets. This is the private home of Mrs. Kiloran McGrigor and her two yellow Labradors opened up to staying guests. It has a beautiful south-facing garden, and all rooms overlook it, in which guests are invited to sit and, if fine, breakfast is served al fresco. Breakfasts are sumptuous affairs - lots of fruit, cereals, juice and yoghurt and full cooked breakfast if guests wish. Conversation round one table can be entertaining and stimulating. Next to Wren House is a self-catering cottage for two under the same ownership. Guests at the cottage can enjoy all day access and their own secluded garden so this works best for longer stays. ... more   less
