Stayed here for 4 nights, before heading off into the Monashees for some powder skiing, then returned for a 3 further nights before flying home. The hotel was good value and has a great location in Big White; truly ski in/out as others have written. Room was large enough and had all the basic facilities you need, and was cleaned regularly. The bar provided good quality bar food at a reasonable price, and good beer from local breweries, all served by friendly and mainly Australian staff. I didn't eat in the restaurant, but the breakfasts were also good.

Staff were excellent, and dealt very well with keeping hold of a parcel that arrived for me after I left, until my nephew was able to collect it 2-3 weeks later. They kept in regular contact by email and assured me it was still safe until they let me know it had been collected. Great service. I will stay here again if I'm in Big White next season.

I really enjoyed our stay. Three kids and two adults, we rented a loft room and had a great price.

The restaurant service and food were fantastic. Huge breakfasts and awesome lunches. We were on mountain for seven days, we tried every restaurant (there are not that many) and we went back to the Copper Kettle Grille (in the hotel) every day.

This could not be a better positioned hotel for the slopes - to the right then down a slope to one lift or push/walk to the left and ski down a hill through the tunnel to another 3! The hotel staff were friendly enough, will bring drinks to the hot tub if you ask. Would have liked bigger bath towels. Our room is owner, not all are, and as such had the homely features, ie pictures on the walls, etc, also our safe worked - our friends staying next door had no pictures and a broken safe which still wasn't fixed after our 12 night stay! Also, when we arrived the hot tub was not working until day 3 - didn't spoil the holiday, but slightly annoying after a day's skiing, although the hotel did offer to allow us the use of another two hotels' hot tubs, we didn't particularly want the trouble to trekking to another establishment when all you want is a hot tub, so declined.

The resort itself was quiet - locals (well Aussies) suggested 50% down re the credit crunch - it was therefore perfect for us, slopes were a dream. We had a few days with blue skies and sun and others for which Big White is renowned apparently, ie white outs, good fun though and stacks of snow.

Although previous reports do state resort full of Aussies, didn't quite think so many were here - it was a refreshing change to bump into a Canadian. All of the retail outlets/bars/restaurants had Aussie staff, this was the only thing which let the place down (no slur on the Aussies, but we do like the Canadians).

Nowhere on the mountain to eat, but not a problem as easy to get to the bottom. Lots of places to eat - unlike say Whistler not a gourmet resort, but good enough and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

If you want to venture to Kelowna on your day off, plan it, 'cos you can get on the town bus for $10, this leaves early morning. If you forget to organise this you may have to pay $77 on the airport shuttle!

We will revisit in time when they have opened more of the mountain, not that there isn't sufficient to ski as is.

A friend and I stayed for two days at the White Crystal Inn on Big White Mountain near Kelowna, B.C.

Overall the room was comfortable and served our purpose of being a place to get a good night's sleep. We were there to ski, we weren't looking for anything fancy and we got about what we expected. This is basic accommodations, it is not anything fancy.

The good points are:

1. True ski-in ski-out accomodations. A lot of places claim to be ski-in ski-out, this place really is.

2. The room was quiet and clean and the beds were comfortable so we got a good night's sleep.

3. The price was excellent. We got two nights accommodations plus two days ski pass for $207.00 per person.

4. The restaurant served a fairly good breakfast and a good lunch for a reasonable price.

The bad points are:

1. The curtains let light in through the top, with the lights shining off the snow there was light getting into our room even in the middle of the night.

2. The room keys had the room number printed on them. This is not very secure in case the keys get lost. I have never seen this before at any hotel in the world. They need to change this right away.

3. Our room which was supposed to have a room safe did not. We were fine taking our wallets skiing but when it came time to use the hot tub there was no safe place to store our money.

Overall especially considering the very reasonable price and the excellent ski-in ski-out location we would definitely stay here again. However I think the management needs to pay immediate attention to security matters, provide a safe in every room and take the room number off of the room keys. If it were not for these two issues I would have given the White Crystal Inn four out of five stars.

Dear Trilinearmipmap,

Thank you for sharing your review with the travel community, we really appreciate your feedback. We have been using codes on our hotel keys for several years now. We do have safes available but not in all unit types. The Kitchenette units do have safes, the Standard units do not at this time.
