We climb with our car to the hotel. In the entrance the concierge open the car door for us with umbrella and park our car. The lobby is nice and cozy. The room is big with coffee machine, lcd 42'' tv, binoculars and amazing bathroom. From the balcony you have the view of Lucerne lake
One pool is outdoor and warmth and one is indoor. At the area of the indoor pool ther are the spa rooms and around the pool chairs, bar with mineral water and appls. In the area of the hotel hanging fur coats to wear in the evning when you wont to go outside

Room Tip: Room with balcony

We just got back from a three days stay at Villa Honegg.
Getting there was quite a harrowing drive. Narrow winding country roads with little or no barriers at the side but we were soon rewarded with a spectacular view of the valley below. The view is really unbelievable.

Check in was hassle free and this is the first hotel that never asked us for a credit card.

We stayed in the Junior Suite (Room 14) which overlooks the lake. Room was tastefully furnished in warm colours and a generous-sized terrace where I could sit there all day to admire the views and listen to the cowbells. Peaceful and serene.

From the nespresso machines, free mini bar, large telly and Hermes bath products, this hotel spared no expenses when it came to trying to deliver quality finishings. Other areas like the lounge, restaurant and spa areas were also peppered with gorgeous furnishings and quirky little touches. And the pool....I'll let the photos speak for themselves!

FOOD
Breakfast was included in our room rate and it was served till 2pm, which gives you the luxury of a (really long) lie-in. Cheese, cold meat, bread basket and fruits to start with and after, you can then order anything from rosti, omelettes to birchermuesli from the ala carte menu - as much as you want. We also had dinner in the restaurant on both nights. Food was decent - do try the entrecôte main course with polenta and spinach - the meat was well seasoned and grilled. Compliments to the chef!

No pork is served at this hotel. Bacon and sausages were all beef.

STAFF
Service wise, I found everyone professional and some friendlier than others. But all efficient and very service oriented. I also had a massage and my therapist was friendly and really good. As she is only part time, do book in advance if you fancy a massage/other beauty treatments.

OTHERS
Dogs are welcomed with a charge of 40CHF per night. Free parking is available. Golf carts and bicycles are also available.

The price is a little steep but no more so than other 5 star hotels around Switzerland. The views alone paid for itself. We'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Definitely lake view.

As others have said the location is just delightful with marvellous views and fairly easy access into Lucerne if you have hired a car. There is much to admire here, briefly, our entry level room on the 3 rd floor was tiny, charming, comfortable and very quiet. The bed was wonderful and all the soft furnishings were top quality and well chosen. The shower room was not so good and we were disappointed in it's design. The swimming pool is beautiful but it was much too hot to swim in and that was hugely disappointing. We were there in the height of Summer so I do not know why we were made to forfeit the use of this amenity when we paid top dollar rate for our room. The small indoor pool was at a tolerable temperature but not nearly as alluring as the outdoor pool in design or location.
We thoroughly enjoyed using a golf cart one morning and explored the mountainside and nearby hamlet this way. We ate in the hotel dining room 3 nights out of 4 and food was good to fair but as others have said it was an expensive way to sample some local food. I have to eat a restricted diet and I am still smarting over the ludicrous price they changed me for a simple plate of pasta one evening. When I questioned the cost the hotel apologised and said they had forgotten my special requirements but I don't think we have been refunded.
It is wonderful to dine out on the terrace as the light fades over the mountains and the colours change from gold to pink to red to blue, just magical.
At the room rate charged we were expecting a wonderful breakfast but that was not what we got. In comparison to other Swiss hotels of the same category this hotel scored 4 out of 10 at breakfast time. Yes lovely to have extended breakfast hours but not to the detriment of the experience. Breakfast for us is a very important time of day and Swiss hotels have been right at the forefront of starting our precious days away in the best possible way but not so here. We found both service and food in need of improvement. I have waited a year to write this as I didn't want to deter other Travellers and spoil the unblemished 5 out of 5.
There is no doubt that this is a nice hotel but for us it stops short of being great because of the problems I have described. In fairness the hotel has had ample time to prove the breakfast experience for other guests and that might now be the case.

Without doubt, there is plenty that is breathtaking about this hotel - the unrivalled views, the location, the amazingly designed outdoor pool, the terrace restaurant, quality of the cuisine, friendly staff, Nespresso machine in our suite, thoughtful interior design. It is also well positioned for a day trip to quaint Lucerne and has some super lake-side walks nearby.
There were, however, a few things that are slightly lacking and that prevented us from awarding 5 stars. Many of which could be addressed should the management wish to.
- We were there in June and the outdoor 'spa' pool is set at a constant 34 degrees, which is just far to hot to be comfortable during the hotter months. I'm sure this would be lovely to bathe in in the Winter when there is snow on the ground but should really be adjusted for comfort and refreshment at other times as it actually wasn't pleasant to swim in with a hot sun and meant you didn't want to stay in for too long which was a shame as the view from the pool was to die for.
- There was no pool waiter service, you had to either clamber up a steep bank to the restaurant or go through a series of corridors and staircases to get up through the hotel. This could easily be addressed by someone coming by the sun-loungers every 20 mins or so and having menus for drinks and bar snacks on the lounger side-tables.
- On the website, it is advertised that the contents of the mini-bar are free, however, the mini-bar is only stocked with water and soft-drinks (as the hotel is owned by a Middle-Eastern company). We would have liked to be asked at the time of booking if we'd like to have a fully stocked bar and would have happily paid for any alcoholic drinks we consumed from it.
- We ate for one night in the dining room which lacked any kind of atmosphere or charm (the other nights it was warm enough to dine on the hotel terrace). A little background music would have helped rather than the silence. There is also no single point of entry for the dining areas (inc terrace) so you can end up standing around for some time in different spots before someone sees you and seats you. Some kind of podium on the terrace would deal with this.
- The wi-fi in the suite was very unreliable and didn't work on the suite terrace at all which was very disappointing.
- Most hotels at this level have a DVD/CD player and ipod dock in the suites.
- Minor thing but the balconies should be painted underneath as if you are stilling on a suite terrace with one above you, the paintwork should be completed.
- The pillows on the bed are ridiculous - either huge feather ones which collapse around your head as they are so overly soft, or teeny tiny hypo-allergenic ones which are smaller than the ones on the sofa. We ended up having quite uncomfortable nights, whilst trying to fold the large feather ones into smaller, firmer pillows. We did ask for others but there were no other options which was pretty poor for a hotel of this uber-level.
- There is also a strange issue which we have never come across before - the pretty 'scalloped' wall cladding on the outside of the hotel is actually a form of plastic and starts to move and creak loudly as the sun rises and heats it up. Hence we were woken up each morning at 6.30am and could not get back to sleep as this continued for several hours (our french doors were not open either, you hear this through the walls).
- During our short stay we had one extremely large, noisy group staying for one night who completely took over the terrace and pool area, leaving no room, seats or loungers for any other guests. It would have been nice if the hotel could have planned ahead and laid out more loungers for the other guests who were also paying to use those facilities but could not get near them.
- Just as that group left, on the next night, a very large multi-generational family of 14+ (with 6 kids) stayed who were in the rooms above us, the suite beside us and also the room above that. They were also very noisy and inconsiderate and when we asked them to keep it down a little they had very little regard for anyone else. They then came down the terrace restaurant and took that over too, with their children running around, shrieking and jumping all over the soft furniture. At no time did any of the staff or management ask them to consider the other guests. Given that this is the kind of place that people are typically booking for the peaceful location and tranquility, it was a shame that these two groups spoilt a large part of our short stay.
- In general, we felt that senior management seemed to be extremely low-key at this hotel. The GM did come out of his office to say a very brief hello when we checked in but we didn't see him again during our stay. Nor did there appear to be anyone of any seniority in the restaurant or terrace when we ate there. It's more common in these types of places for the management to move round tables or come over during the day and check that everyone is well and enjoying their stay. It felt a little lacking in heart and soul as a consequence.

So not quite the relaxing stay we'd hoped for unfortunately.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant has excellent cuisine and the views are stunning. Our only concern was that the room was very small, even for just the two of us and when the wind blows the shutters bump against the wall. Without a doubt this hotel exceeds in almost every way.

Everything about the Hotel Villa Honegg was beyond outstanding. The first thing we noticed was the amazing Alpine views, including Lake Lucerne (the Moonlight Sonata got its name from this lake). The staff was friendly and the service seemed as efficient, precise, and reliable as a Swiss watch. The rooms were modern and the amenities perfect. If you need advice on what's fun and interesting in the area, be sure to ask Catherine. She suggested llama trekking for the younger members of my family and a chocolate tasting for everyone. Everyone in my family loved her.

Someone put a lot of resources, thought, and effort into creating one of the best hotel experiences possible. The owners must be feeling really good about what they've accomplished at the Villa Honegg. Bravo!

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel. Wow! Now I have stayed in many hotels and I have to say that this is one of the best. Truly 5 star. The rooms are lovely but really makes this hotel special is the view over the lake (and mountains) which is best enjoyed from the very warm, beautifully designed outdoor pool.

The hotel is well thought out and managed- so much so that it allows people with children to enjoy side by side honeymooners or people without children (most people are without kids). I thought the staff did an excellent job of helping to keep my children amused during dinner - a special thanks to Petra who produced a selection of toys for my 3 year old meaning we could all enjoy dinner in relative peace. The kids playroom was also excellent for keeping my two young children entertained - nice selection of toys and TV with over 80 films. I also loved the children's bathrobes, slippers, shampoo and special dinner settings - I haven't seen that kind of attention to detail before.

This is what I would call a 'yes' hotel - in that you ask the staff for something and they do their best to make it happen. The service was excellent, in fact the best I have seen - the only comparison I have on similar service is the Oberoi Dubai. For example, I appreciated the flexibility of the staff who were happy to prepare food not on the menu just to make my 3 year old happy.

I loved the Hermes bath products and the beds (so comfy - didn't want to wake up) The breakfast was lovely - really fresh with everything prepared to order by smiling happy staff. It was great that it was served until 2pm - refreshing change.

Only points to mention for improvement would be: (1) the Arabic food isn't quite right. Having lived in an Arabic country for 7 years I am fond of the food. This hotely has some of it on the menu but the chef, whilst clearly skilled, hasn't quite got the taste right. Whilst it was still nice it wasn't right and this will be obvious to anyone who also likes this sort of food; (2) service at breakfast on the second day was too slow (despite there only being two tables to service). I asked for a clean knife and ended up reusing the one I had used for the jam otherwise the eggs would have been cold. Still, these points are not major at all - this is still a clear 5 star hotel with some of the best service I have ever seen.

Wonderful stay. Well worth the money and definitely my number one hotel so far.
