“Excellent Location”
Reviewed 27 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

The house is well equipped and comfortable. The reason we chose the house was the garden which with good weather was a real boon for our stay. Beamish Museum was an easy walk away and Chester le Street, Durham and the Coast all within easy reach. A La Spicery, The Shepherd and Shepheress (Excellent for a cooked breakfast) and San Lorenzo are all within a short walk and all provided us with an excellent meal.

Wonderful dream home with garden on 3 sides lots of birds visiting this peacefull place.
With in walking distance of Beamish museum with the cycle path just behind the house.
Makes Shutters an excellent base to visit the lovely part of the world even on a damp and windy day it's a lovely place to be.

“Comfortable and relaxing place to stay.”
Reviewed 25 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

The property is in the small village of Beamish and is about a 10 minute walk to the Beamish Museum. It is an ideal location as a base for exploring the area. There are lots of walks nearby which can be started from the house itself and a cycle path as well. The property has a lovely sized kitchen which has most equipment to be able to cook meals and prepare snacks. We have stayed in many holiday rentals and so many have just had the basic essentials which is fine but Shutters excelled in the equipment available. The dinning room is adjacent to the kitchen and is open plan which is really nice. The sitting room has 2 sofas and some chairs, a TV which is adequate but is not a smart TV. Off the sitting room is a conservatory which again is comfortable and quite charming. The bedrooms are lovely and beds extremely comfortable. The garden was a delight to sit in and the outlook over the fields very pleasant. The area is quiet and relaxing. There are several good restaurants in the area however if you prefer there are a couple of restaurants with takeaway menus within walking distance. The Northumberland coast around Craster is about an hour's drive and Durham, Hadrian's Wall can be easily visited from this base. Will more than likely visit again. The owner was very helpful and supplied all the relevant information we needed promptly in advance of our stay. Highly recommended.

“Shutters is a lovely place for a holiday,it location is ideal for visiting the Beamish open air museum.”

Shutters is at the end of a row of similar house,so nobody walks past which gives a lovely sence of peace and privacy. The garden is very well tended with neat hedges and very nice lawns. The house is ideal for two couples holidaying together with two bath rooms, the house is in very good order and feels more like a home than a holiday let.We holidayed with our Son and Daughter in law and we all had a very pleasant week .

“Luxury self-catering”

Shutters is definitely at the top end of luxury. All rooms were well presented and contained all the items required.
The local pubs/restaurants were all worth a visit. Would use again.

Shutters is at the end of a pretty row of cottages in a very quite cul-de-sac. Inside the quality is excellent and everything guests may need is at hand. The finish in each room is of the highest quality and standard. Although there were only two of us, the property also lends itself perfectly for four people.
The neighbours and locals are very friendly.
We can't rate this property high enough. If you are visiting the north east put Shutters on the must stay at list.
