“A Tasty lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

A cosy place to go for lunch. We sat inside the Restaurant as it was a very hot day. Everyone outside appeared to be having a lovely time. Young and old. Drinkers and eaters. It was a very nice experience. We will be back

“Nice surroundings everything else was rubbish”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014 via mobile

Me and my dad visited the stables beamish today for lunch as we have not been for about five or six years we thought we would give it another go. My dad went to the bar and ordered drinks and got the menus when we were looking at them we were not very impressed so my dad decided to go for the chicken curry with onion bhaji and none bread and rice and I decided to go with home-made cheese burger chips and beans from the kids menu my dad went to order the food at the bar again he noticed a nice soup and sandwiches menu he asked the member of staff what is the soup it was tomato soup what was the sandwich of the day he asked it was cheese savoury now my dad is not a big cheese person in fact he hates cheese so he decided to just stick with is choice so he paid for the food and decided to sit down again after about 20 minutes wait we got the food but when it came the waiter decided to spill my drink almost a full pint of Coke went all over the table great start to the meal!!!!!! Not!!!!! He apologised and got me another drink though. When the waiter spilt the drink I laughed about the situation now when I think about it it was not funny at all . Anyway back to the food it was very average at best it's hard to believe people give this place such good reviews it deserves nothing above two stores in my opinion it deserves nothing above two stars in my opinion the cheeseburger although it was nice it was a bit hard to chew and as for the curry well it was average at best the chips that came with the cheeseburger were very nice and the beans? Well they were just playing Heinz beans in a little pot on the grounds of beamish hall are beautiful the grounds are beautiful but the food and service has put us off from going again if you want to eat very average food in a beautiful ground this is the place for you if you want to eat very average food in beautiful grounds this is the place for you sadly because of the food and service we will not return it is sad to see a once great restaurant go downhill

“Lovely Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

Just back from Sunday lunch and would definitely recommend the stables. We all had roast beef Sunday lunch and u got loads of beef not a lot of vegetables mind for 5 people so we had to ask for another bowl which wasn't a problem and came straight away. We all had a dessert and the chocolate brownie with hazelnut ice cream was lush. Good value 2 courses for £13.95 will definitely be going back.

“Excellent lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

We were given a recommendation by one of our relatives to have lunch at The Stables restaurant and we were delighted by the experience. Not only is the setting lovely , being in the grounds of Beamish Hall , but the interior is delightful and has lots of seating in a few large areas.
We were taken to our table by one the lovely staff who are all very friendly with smiles for you all of the time.
The menu is has all the usual favourites and a few specialities as well and all reasonably priced. We had a shared bread and olive platter between us to start even though we were warned by our relative about the big main courses. A mistake by us of course because when the mains arrived they really are huge.
I had slow braised Northumbrian beef with a herb dumpling , braised baby leeks , mash and veg.
It was excellent !! No room at all for a pudding. My wife had scampi and home made chips which she said was superb.
I saw some fish and chips being delivered to another table and they looked huge.
Definitely one to return to. I also took home a 4-pint plastic flagon of their own beer , brewed on the premises in the attached micro brewery. Can't wait to try it.
