Just returned from a weekend Christmas break at this lovely hotel.
Staff made us very welcome and our room, while small, was spotless, comfortable and excellent value for money. Our party dined in The Stables Restaurant, which was also worth the money, especially for Christmas. There was a wide choice with both the regular and festive menu available. Food was very good and service was excellent. The log fires throughout the hotel and decorations gave the place a great Christmas atmosphere. Would defiantly book again

Was at an Abba Christmas party night last night and stayed over. Access road not good but is what it is. Rooms very clean, spacious and no phone signal definitely a plus for me! Reception staff very friendly and helpful, hotel a bit of a labyrinth but what you might expect in an old country hall. Food at "party night" we thought was good. Bear in mind how many people are being served simultaneously and we were pleasantly surprised. Turkey and beef were lovely, veg were fine and enjoyed starters and main courses. Service was excellent military precision without making you feel rushed and very courteous. Abba tribute had good material to work with but fake accents were comical. Not bad singers though but barely did an hour slot so had expected a little more but this might have been expected if I had arranged the booking. Got a good nights sleep in warm comfy room and breakfast sounded good. Arrived at 9 and hit lucky as we were served fairly quickly. Friends who followed us in were did not receive their food til 10! Table next to us followed our friends into restaurant but complained about wait, so they got served quicker. Annoying!!!!! Food at breakfast not too bad but muffin was awful. Would have liked to have been offered more tea/coffee and toast but admittedly staff were fairly pleasant and helpful so probably would have helped but I expected better service given the restaurant is not huge, was not full and there seemed lots of staff on. Would not rush back but would not rule out a return visit either. Overall pretty good but could be better I think.

Just returned from the Beamish Hall Hotel it is beautiful, one of my favourite hotels to date. Staff are great and the food in the COURTYARD is excellent. The Hotel is only 15 minutes away from Newcastle right next door to the Beamish Museum. We ate in the first night and for those who know me I am very fussy when it comes to steaks not here it was fantastic cant wait to go back in the NEW YEAR

I have stayed here many times before but not that recently as they have really pushed their prices up and my budget will not stand it. However, I managed to book a room at a really great rate so booked it and got an upgrade. All probably as they were not very busy. The room was large and spacious and the bathroom had a walk in shower and a spa bath so no issues here.
Main problem is the smaller things. They offer wired internet in the room, which is no issue with a laptop but not much use for and ipad and other wirelss devices. The cable provided is about a meter but the connection in the wall is about 3 meters from the desk. Fortunately, I always carry a 3 meter cable for work so got round this issue. This is a major problem if you are staying on business. Biggest issue is the Stables Bar ood times. I was really busy due to work so went do to get something to eat at around 9.15 to find out that they stopped serving food at 9, the hotel is a long way from anywhere else so not easy to get out and find somewhere. So I asked at reception about room service and the best they good do was suggest sandwiches. Never stayed anywhere that stops serving so early. Noticed on check out it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. If so should they not offer hot food as part of that for a much longer time. Don't know what you are supposed to do if you have had a long journey and what something to eat. Breakfast was fine but service is a bit on the slow side, well for me it was. Though I seemed to be the only person on business, there just seemed ot be couples having a short break so they probably didn't worry about it. Would stay there again but just they just need to sort out a few minor details to make it perfect.

We stayed here after a works christmas party as it was easier than taxi-ing home.
The party night was typical mediocre Christmas party night - ok entertainment and ok food.
Bar prices aren't too bad for a hotel approx £4 per pint

The hotel itself is well worth a visit.
Rooms were spotlessly clean and the deluxe room we had was really big.
The staff were all very courteous and friendly - even at 2am in the residents bar.
Breakfast was really nice and we were given a window table with beautiful views over the garden.

The only downsides I can think of - which to some may not be downsides - were the fact that the windows in the room would not open and there was no phone signal at all

Unfortunatley we didn't encounter any paranormal activity but apparently children can sometimes be heard running along the many winding corridors among other spooky happenings

All in all well worth the money
