We took my parents for afternoon tea in the Eden Room. The choice and quality of the food was excellent, and as there was so much we were offered a bag for the cakes we couldn't manage to eat. The waitresses were very polite and chatty, the room itself was bright and clean and tea is served at a dinner table which may seem an odd thing to point out but we have been to several other places where it is served in a lounge on low tables seated on sofas which is quite awkward to eat at in comfort. The whole atmosphere was very relaxed and not at all stuffy with music playing in the background. Excellent value for money and we will definitely return.

We enjoyed a nights stay here and whilst it wasn't faultless, this place is about as close as you will get. The room was great, the food sublime - just how does the kitchen get Yorkshire pudding so big? - and the whole atmosphere really relaxing.
The staff are all really nice, happy and friendly and you get the feeling they are not just 'going through the motions'.

If there is one thing that typifies the hotel it is a wonderful lady who serves tea and breakfast in the Eden Room. Her name is Val and nothing seems to be a problem/hassle for her and she has a great line in conversation/information. She should be treasured by the hotel, what a great advert....

We have never stayed in such luxury in the UK. The building is historic but maintained to a very high standard. The furnishings are unbelievable and the staff exceeded our expectations every day. The only problems was the lack of space in the room. I had to move the ?antique chair from the desk in order to move round the bed but that worked. There are larger rooms, some massive with four poster beds. We have paid as much for a B & B before so can't wait to return for another visit to be pampered and treated like royalty.

We wanted to stay somewhere special to stay for our wedding anniversary, which surpassed all our expectations. This hotel is situated in a wonderful setting in the deep countryside, with plenty of car parking.

Our welcome at reception was brilliant, and we were given a free upgrade to a fabulous room with acres of space, and a double Jacuzzi. Also there was a complimentary bottle of sparking wine in an ice bucket, and Beamish Hall chocolates.

We ate dinner in The Stables restaurant at the back of Beamish Hall, which also boasts its own microbrewery. Dinner was fine, and we had pre-booked a table, as the restaurant can become rather busy.

Having had a great night's sleep we enjoyed a wholesome breakfast, with plenty of choice.

We felt very special during our whole stay, and were well looked after. All the staff seemed to know we were celebrating some thing special. Reception was very efficient.

Cannot recommend the hotel too highly. We will certainly be back when we are next in the north east.

Room Tip: Mention you are celebrating an anniversary.

This has been one of the best best westerns we have stayed at my only gripe was if you are going to put the same option as a starter and main make sure it is on the till like this. Caused me and my wife eating separately on our anniversary and also the staff should be asking how you want meat cooked for me serving duck well done is a no go.other than this all staff were great especially the lady manager in the stables and Richard in there to very polite and couldn't do enough.

wonderful hotel in a perfect setting. Rooms were very comfortable and plush. Food was excellent with a good choice of dishes, both in the restaurant and room service menu. A very beautiful place, no wonder it is a favourite for weddings.

i went to beamish hall hotel for afternoon tea with 16 friends the hotel was a perfect setting for an afternoon tea. as i say there was a lot of us but the staff made us feel as if we mattered as a person. the tea was out of this world sandwiches were fresh and the cakes were delicious. and there are no words to describe the scones and cream and jam, and they were served on old fashioned three tiered plates. if you want good food in beautiful surroundings then make this your choice
