“Our favourite place to holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

This was our second visit to Mother Ivey's. It came highly recommended by friends last year and we had such a wonderful time, we decided to visit again this year (and have already put in our provisional booking for next!)

The location is fantastic - just a few minutes walk to the most beautiful beach which never seems over crowded. Our two children loved it here, spending many happy hours rock pooling, building sand castles and playing in the water ( we took body boards and a small inflatable boat to use in the shallows). If you love the beach, you'd probably be happy to never leave the site! Although we didn't, you are allowed to bbq on the beach if you like and there are plenty of bins (Mother Ivey are great at recycling facilities) just as you leave the beach.

We took our tent and chose a luxury pitch in 'The Square' with electric hook up which was well marked out level. We only has to wait for the showers once (which I thought was very impressive considering we went in peak season) and the added bonus of family showers was greatly appreciated when trying to get a 4 and 7 year old washed after a day on the beach! Toilets, showers and the washing up area was clean and I regularly saw staff cleaning the facilities. The shop was well stocked and have fresh break, baked goods and pasties delivered daily - the chocolate croissants are delicious!

Staff were always welcoming and friendly and when our daughter managed to get stung by a sea anemone (she sat on one whilst rock pooling!) they couldn't have been kinder, offering advice in a caring way.

If you are after somewhere with a no club house, evening entertainment, bars and restaurants then this is not the place for you. But if, like us, you are after a peaceful and relaxing family holiday set in a stunning location then we would recommend booking.

We cannot rate this place highly enough!

We've just returned from a 2 week break at the site. It's a fantastic place. The site is clean and well kept. The borders in the main site are well tended and lovely to walk past on the way to the beach. We camped in the Meadows area - a large field at the back of the site where the pitches are laid out in rows delineated by marked grass. The pitches were large with plenty of room for a large tent - we have a vango tigris 800 about 7.5 X 4.5 (with porch included) which fitted easily and left room for the car and space to lounge outside the tent.

There is a great play area on site which all of our kids (3,6 & 8) thoroughly enjoyed - every spare minute they had they wanted to go down and play with friends they had made there. Even when the campsite filled up the play area seemed to be able to cope.

The beaches surrounding the site are also great - the campsite beach itself is a treat- only a short walk from the site - lovely clean sand, clear water and a view of the lifeboat station across the bay. Boobys, Constantine Bay and Harlyn Bay beaches are also within easy walking distance and all offer something different. The coastal path walk to Constantine past the lighthouse was lovely - if a little windy.

On Wednesday afternoons this year they have Beach activities with a forest school person on their beach - you have to pay but our eldest 2 had a great 2 hours. They also run Wednesday evening BBQ's on the beach with proceeds going to the RNLI.

The facilities seemed to be kept clean most of the time - as with any campsite it's the users that cause issues and sometimes there were paper towels on the floor of the toilets but that's not the fault of the site - they did seem to clean often and well.

There were occasional short queues for showers - being an early riser I didnt experience this in the morning - mainly when coming back from the beach in the afternoon. There were also sometimes queues for the dishwashing facilities - but nothing excessive.

There are plenty of bins and recycling places on the site - all regularly emptied.

The shop stocks some great fresh bakery products from the local choughs bakery - the granary bread was delicious as were the pasties and the flapjack! It is a campsite shop so a little more expensive than elsewhere. There is a book exchange in the shop which provided my reading material for the second week - proceeds to the RNLI.

The location of the site means the only noise you'll hear at night will be the waves crashing into the coast - or the flapping of your tent in the wind. The quiet hours seemed to be well observed - in the time I was there I only once heard something after 11.

We would definitely consider coming back again

really nice campsite, very quiet and family focussed. The plots are a decent size and right next to the sea. There is a private bay about 100m from the campsite as well which is lovely. When we were there it was quite windy which did shake the tent at night a bit. I think this is just what you would expect when camping on a cliff top though!

We were right in the middle in G41 which was quite secluded with walls on 2 sides so it felt very cosy and private. The toilets were right nearby as well. If we'd been in the field I think I would have felt the toilets were a bit far away and i think there is only 1 block for them. The facilities are good though with plenty of showers/ hot water/ washing up stations etc. we never had to queue.

all in all a lovely campsite.

Stayed on the Square for 9 nights from the last week in June and had an excellent stay.
Pitch was great. Site was well kept with lovely flowers and shrubs - just a shame some parents don't care about their kids playing football and trampling all over them!
We found the staff really friendly, shop well stocked, shower blocks clean and access to the beaches just perfect.
The site goes very quiet around 10pm which suited us with a baby.
Shame nobody mentioned this to the two families who hit the beer as soon as they arrived on the Friday night and thankfully left on the Sunday morning. At least we were entertained with the two 'gentlemen' from either tent squaring up to one another on the Saturday afternoon!
Other than this, it was a great stay and we would recommend anyone 'sensible' who wanted a quiet family camping break to visit.

We stayed at a friend's recommendation and it was as good as they promised. The campsite is in a beautiful location with a lovely beach and excellent access onto the coastal path. The site is immaculately presented and the shower/toilet blocks cleaned regularly. The shop is well stocked and all the staff are friendly and helpful. We had a luxury pitch with an electrical hook up which was plenty big enough. I would definitely stay here again. The only small issue I have is that a lot of people seem to ignore the two car rule and the condition to keep their cars and tourer/tent/gazebo within their own pitch, instead people were parked in front of their pitch or on the communal space as they had no room due to the way they had sited their equipment. As it was quiet when we were there this was not an issue but I could see it could be a problem when the site is busy. This is not meant as a bad reflection of the site or the staff as the pitches are definitely big enough.

Room Tip: If you can get a pitch closer to the shop they are more sheltered from the wind. The other closer to...

This is the first time we have stayed here and it was after a friends recommendation. it was well kept, and clean, all pitches were grass and were big individual pitches, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the shop was excellent and the beach at the site was lovely.
the only thing that would stop us returning were the really narrow lanes leading to the site and you can't blame anyone for that can you?
I imagine it will be really busy in the school holidays but we came back this weekend and it was lovely. we talked to several people who come every year and some who come most weekends, a lovely site in a beautiful place
