Atlantic Bays Holiday Park
Reviewed 23 April 2014

We (family of four) stayed in a Gold Chalet at Atlantic Bays for five nights over Easter.

Really cannot fault the the Quality of Accommodation and the Location. We had an absolutely fabulous break and all really enjoyed it - it’s a fantastic chalet in the perfect position.

Quality of Accommodation
The chalet was fantastic value for money - warm, modern, spacious, comfortable and had every possible utensil/ peice of equipment we could have possibly wished for.

Location
The park is clean, quiet, family friendly and located less than 10 minutes away from numerous beaches and delightful harbour towns.

Would we return, definitely! would we recommend - yes!

We have stayed at Atlantic Bays many times in the past 2 years and love its location - A perfect base for exploring the North Cornwall Coast and beyond. Each time we visit we find something new. Nowhere is far from this site and if you have children we thoroughly recommend Crealy Adventure Park which is only a couple of miles up the road. Fish and Chips from St Merryn are pricey but worth it. From our own experience, being sited away from the coastal road is a big positive, as you avoid all the traffic congestion, near misses and tight squeezes that we have encountered over the years at many of the other sites-especially during 'rush hour' (changeover days plus the morning and evening dash to and from the sea). There is also a bus service from the main entrance to Padstow which is great for avoiding the full car parks in high season. A lovely clean site with friendly owners and staff. All the pitches provide lots of space too and even when the park was at its busiest we never had to queue in the immaculately clean shower blocks. We do not usually stay up that late (we are usually shattered from the sea air) however when we have ventured into the clubhouse in the evening it has been lovely - the Bingo and Quiz nights were fun - there is a lovely relaxed feeling in the Club House. The local shops in St Merryn are a 5 minute car journey away for food (lovely Pasties) or the Supermarket at Padstow is close enough for a big shop. The shop on site provides any essentials and lots of local knowledge too - A cracking site with everything you need and more to make a fab holiday in Cornwall.

Is on top of a hill nowhere within walking distance of the sea. In fact it is on a windswept
ex WW2 airbase. We visited friends who were inmates.

The wooden huts resemble something from the great escape. The area is very clean
and well mowed. There is no litter it must get blown away. We particularly liked -not-
the concrete block barbeque areas with concrete bases. There was a shop and
plenty of parking.

The site centre was closed and has been for a while. Our friends made the best of
it but will not be returning. We cannot see how the reviews can be so positive.

We were very lucky as when trying to book, our chosen grade of chalet was unavailable so they offered to give us a free upgrade.

The Chalet was lovely and modern, clean kitchen, comfy corner sofa, big TV, comfy beds and a great shower! Everything was perfect.

Onsite there was a very small shop, but had basic foods and camping equipment and newspapers, the bar was great and had some really fun entertainment like Bingo and the quiz night and had a small arcade area with pool tables. The children's play area also looked good and was always full of children enjoying themselves. There is a laundry room which was very useful for washing wet clothes and towels.

Couldn't fault anything! It was a lovely stay.

We have just returned from a week's stay at this Holiday Park and were very impressed. Having never stayed at a holiday park before we were a bit dubious about what it would be like for us and our two young children...however we were very pleasantly surprised! The park itself is very well maintained with great pitches for the caravans and tents, the owners have made an effort to make the entrance to the park welcoming and attractive with neatly mown grass and flowers in the borders. We stayed in a privately owned lodge which was absolutely immaculate and perfect for our family. The facilities at the park suited our needs with a launderette, small shop and reception. Our children loved the playground and it was nice to sit outside in the evening at the bar / clubhouse and look out onto them enjoying themselves. The clubhouse is a bit tired and dated but I believe it will be refurbished soon, along with various other updates such as tennis courts etc

The thing that we liked the most is that it is so peaceful and quiet...this is definately not a park to stay at if you want to live it large and stumble home at 2am. We thought it might be a bit rowdy with children running riot but it wasn't like that at all (at least not in the week that we were there anyway and in the case of children running riot it was mainly ours!!) The location is fabulous and within easy reach of several beautiful beaches, a great base for exploring.

I would highly recommend staying here, we loved it and were sad to be coming home. Will definately return next year! Just a word of caution though, some of the privately owned lodges/chalets are a little bit dated and shabby which I think has led to previous negative reviews so always be careful to check out pictures before you go!

We visited for the 3rd year running and had an eight night stay in our touring caravan. Good level hard standing fully serviced pitch. A very well maintained site, clean and well maintained shower and toilet block, water always hot.
Bar and children's play area also on site however we did not use these facilities. Dog friendly and very reasonable price! The camping field appeared busy all week but the touring park was quiet. Will definitely return.
