“Charming hotel in the heart of town”
Reviewed 13 October 2011

We spent three nights here in October 2011. The location is great, as it sits right on the Mosel River and is a hop, skip, and a jump from the Marketplatz as well as the bridge across the river. The hotel and restaurant have an old world charm. The staff was very friendly. Many of the staff members seem to be high-school aged students who had the word "Azubi" (apprentice or trainee) on their name tags. They were very eager to please, but the service, particularly in the restaurant was sometimes slow...but we understood due to them being in training. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard fare for German hotels, but pleasing nonetheless. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening and we were all very impressed with the quality and presentation of our meals. Our room was nice but a little outdated. However, Christopher who showed us to our room pointed out that they have a room renovation plan in place which is slated to be completed by April 2012, and they even had a brochure with a rendering of the future room design. We would defintely stay at the Moselschloesschen again, and would recommend it.

Booked this hotel at short notice the day before for around 80 pounds per night roon only
It is without doubt one of the best hotels I have stayed in and I have travelled widely in my 62 years. The room that I had as a single was a complete suite. The meal I had that evening was first class from a very good menu and breakfast the following morning at 14 euros was also a very well presented style self service buffet and also I wanted a boiled egg which I could not find but upon asking A couple of minutes later the said request arrived.Parking is also available in an undergroung garage and on this occassion was at no cost. The location of the hotel is superb right on the river bank and the pictures are exactly what the hotel is like in an absolutely enchanting area.I will definetely be returning.

Room Tip: I hadroom 24 a house on its own.

We stayed three nights in early November. Staff were friendly and knowledgable. Our room was large, clean, and modern with a nice view of the Mosel river. A quality hot breakfast buffet was provided each morning. I would stay again, and recommend this hotel without hesitation.

  • Liked — Large, Clean, Modern room.
  • Disliked — Accommodations in three or four separate buildings and we had to walk outside to get to main building.
  • Tips/Secrets — Early November is a pleasant off season time to visit the Mosel. Nice autumn scenery, low prices, not overrun with tourists.

We've spent a weekend with a bunch of friends for the "Winzerfest" (which is, by the way, really fun) in Traben-Trabach. The location is convenient: Traben is 25 min. by car from Hahn airport, and the Hotel is located in the city centre right by the river. One more plus: car parking is just 2 euros per exit, no matter how long you park. We were given (although not booked) a handicapped accessible room, that seemed to be completely unchanged since the major renovation in the 1980s. The carpet has some cigarette burns and several stains. According to the hotel brochure, all double rooms should be equipped with a separate kitchen and have a separate living room and bedroom, ours didn’t have any of it, even not a fridge. Upon complaint, the front desk employee said, they couldn’t change the room, because they were fully booked. Next morning, upon further complaint, the manager on duty said, we should be lucky, because the room was the largest in this category, and a kitchen would be prohibited by law in an accessible room (which, again, we didn’t book). Anyway, he offered us a 5 euro per night discount (4 % of the room price).

The other rooms in the main building were more spacious, darker because of small windows, had a full kitchen with coffee makers (you have to bring the coffee), and small, hospital-like bathrooms.

The staff wasn’t too friendly (for instance, failed to take away used plates from our breakfast table, but moaned, when one of us wanted to put her used plate on another empty table – I felt like in a youth hostel).

Overall, the hotel doesn’t have a 4-star-standard and is definitely not worth the money. Better go someplace else.
