We were upgraded to a suite in the new annex. The suite was spacious and very clean and had been recently decorated. The staff were very pleasant, but when asked if we wanted help with our luggage I was surprised when the receptionist grabbed one case and left me to to struggle up several flights of steps with my remaining case. Breakfast was OK and typical of the fare one gets these days. The evening meal was passable but nothing out of the ordinary. To ensure a dining room table it is advisable to reserve one when booking accommodation. One couldn't fault the location of the hotel. There is an hotel car park but it is not easy to find, however there were plenty of parking places in the adjacent streets to the hotel.

We stayed in a suite with a balcony looking over the Mosel, expensive but given the charming and comfortable furnishings and the beautiful views, we felt it was worth it. The hotel's public rooms are attractively and interesting decorated and furnished in fine Art Nouveau style, especially the bar which is a gem We used and enjoyed the spa. The breakfast was first class. The whole place is very professionally run, with all staff very friendly and helpful.

Love our 2 room/2 bath top floor suite in the Domicil building which was a block away from the reception area. The stairs weren't a prob for us but may be if you are with babies or not a stair climber. Bed was great, bathrooms modern and spotless, not airconed but there was a fan. We did not stay in one air conditioned hotel the whole time in Mosel/Rhine so I assume that is the standard. Very quiet room made for great sleeping.
Buffet breakfast was delicious, just as good in the other 4 star hotels we stayed in, but there was often not enough room in dining area and had to sit in the another dining room or even (and this was pretty far away) the bar room. Also had dinner one night in hotel and again could only be seated in the bar area because the dining room was full - not ideal.
Not enough staff or space in the lobby reception area in the morning while guests were checking out and others had questions about the day's activities. I felt rushed and didn't always get the complete story or directions.
Rented bikes through the hotel which were great. Seems like EVERYONE is on bikes on the paths between the Mosel towns. Wonderful walking up through the vineyards to hiking paths that are quite challenging but with amazing views.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in July (Friday - Saturday). The staff is very friendly. We had a room in the building behind the main building (there are several buildings). The room was nice, clean and spacious. The spa is very well equipped (sauna, steam bath, solarium, pool, ...) and very modern and clean.
The restaurant was also very good: we booked the arrangement 'Champagne days for gourmets', which included a 3 course dinner and a 5 course dinner with champagne. The breakfast buffet was also excellent end included sparkling wine and smoked salmon.
We were staying in the hotel during the local wine festival, but we were informedby e-mail by the hotel that the location was not a quiet as usual. It was not too bad, we appreciated the warning.

Room Tip: there are several buildings in this hotel and different room types

Looking for a authentic hotel with view on the Moselle river? Do not look any further, this Art Nouveau hotel has it all!
It's situated on the Moselle promenade nearby the bridge which connects Traben with Trabach.
We stayed in The Residence building, in a spacious room with doors to the terrace (sunbeds included).
Staff is very friendly and helpful, and important to those who do not speak German: they all speak fluently English.
Breakfast is served in the main building and has a wide variety.
The restaurant serves excellent food (and wine!) but is a bit haute cuisine (that is a personal opinion).

In this hotel you're treated as a Guest with a capital G.

The Moselle area is one of the most beautiful areas in Germany, everywhere you go you'll find vineyards. The wine from this area is famous, try some!

Opposite the entrance you'll find the river cruise vessels to Cochem and Bernkastel.
Although it sounds a bit like a thing your parent would do ages ago it's absolute worth taking a trip and enjoy the beautiful landscape.

Room Tip: Residence rooms with a view on the river!

We have stayed here before in apartments and chose to do so again. This time we got apartments on the first floor and they were disappointing compared to the last stay in the ground floor ones. The rooms need a make-over and some real changes - metal bed that was noisy, windows that didn't open, a curtain in the bathroom that didn't cover the window (so you had to be careful when using the toilet and shower not to be seen) and plenty of noise from the floor above and no air con. Still there is plenty of space and they are in a great location. If I was going back, I would either ask for ground floor apartments with terrace or stay in the main hotel. However, the service in the hotel was flawless and the restaurant superb (booking required), so I give the four as an overall score (restaurant and main hotel a 5, but the apartments a 3).
