We stayed with three other couples last year September in this extraordinary hotel during our annual wine trip. It is located in the centre of the Mosel vineyards and therefore very convenient to visit the recommended wineries in the area. We all resided in the main building and we were the lucky ones with a room in one the redecorated rooms on the third floor with a very nice view over the Mosel. Our friends were not that well off but with the good and friendly service we all enjoyed our stay. The Art Nouveau decor is really nice and really stands out compared to other hotels in the area. Excellent dining in the hotel and better that what we encountered elsewhere in Traben-Trarbach and after dinner we spent a good time in the small and crowded bar before taking the lift to the second stairway followed by the creaking staircase to our room.

Room Tip: Take a room with a view over the Mosel

As of august 2014, the hotel is doing major construction for installing new sauna and pool area in main building. There is drilling, sawing, and heavy machinery being used all day from around 0830. It is impossible to relax or do anything in the hotel due to the noise and vibration of this work during the daytime.

Dear guest,

thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel on HolidayCheck.

We are very sorry that you were disturbed by construction noise during your stay and apologize formally for the resulting inconveniences.

As you know, we live in constant competition and try to meet the wishes of our guests at all times. With the conversion and renovation measures taken earlier this year we intended to improve the quality of our hotel and want to be able to offer a more optimal service to fully satisfy our guests.

Unfortunately, additional construction lacks have emerged which have to be dealt with. We understand that construction delays are annoying, but these cannot always be avoided and are most of the times not predictable.

You can be sure that our craftsmen do their best to disturb our guests as little as possible. We apologize sincerely that this didn’t work for you during your stay. Nevertheless we hope that we will welcome you back soon again for another stay at Traben-Trarbach.

Best Regards

The Bellevue Team

This hotel was a complete joy, from our arrival, being sent out to the terrace for a welcome drink to leaving, such a nice stay. The breakfast was really good with lots of choice and different areas, terrace, art deco salon, breakfast room. We never dined in the hotel, found restaurants in the town instead. Our room was very comfortable, great shower, two easy chairs overlooking the Mosel. We used the spa every evening, loved it. The decor in the hotel is fabulous, faithful to the art deco period and very athmospheric. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: our room looked out over the river. on the 3rd floor thiugh and the lift only goes up the the 2nd.

They do make a BIG difference and regardless in which of THE many building's you will have a great vacation. THE service is one of the best I have had during my trip around Mosel. THE hotel is a must when visiting this area. The internet connectionn is unfortunately not giving the same great service as THE staff :-)

We visited for 6 days while exploring the Mosel with family & friends and found this perfectly located gem. Traben-Trarbach is centrally located so easy to explore popular spots like Belstein, Burg Elze, Bernkastel-Kues and Trier. The city itself is barely mentioned in tour guides and wine tours so as a result was not swamped with tourists and getting a spot at the town's restaurants was easy (Die Greifen, Cavallerie not to miss).

The Bellvue's sister hotel has a great outdoor terrace to get wine or beer with great views and can bill charges to your Bellvue room - the Bellvue has a small balcony for same but does not really have any outdoor spots.

The Art Nouveau decor is really memorable and well preserved throughout the main building - the bar is very charming, albeit a limited selection of everything (2 beers, 1 gin, a few wines).

The hotel is scattered over several blocks in the original building and several apartment style buildings - fine so long as it isn't raining - and a nice stroll along the Mosel to reception! We had room 423 (Spring Suite) and our friends had the suite above 425 (Cocoon) - both are huge, modern, clean and stylish. Cocoon is 2nd floor so has partial Mosel view but feels smaller due to kid's bedroom in the back. Spring had no view but great layout and huge size. There are so many room types it's easy to find something you like.

The breakfast buffet is nice but ends early (10 am) - tough to get up for those with jet lag!

Service is German so it's efficient, clipped and thorough but not particularly warm or memorable. Glasses would remain unwashed unless you out them in a certain place, noisy bathroom door and broken light remained unfixed through stay. Reception was helpful in making reservations, walked us to our room upon check-in and overall were very good.

Restaurant kitchens here typically close as 9p so one night we asked the desk to prep a cheese plate as we came in late. Warm bread, jam, 6 cheeses and nuts were perfect! We tipped 5 euro and were surprised that on check out that cheese plate cost about $70...service charge, $5 euro per head, etc... Most expensive cheese plate ever! But this was the only unpleasantness over a memorable stay and would recommend the Bellvue as a base of operations for anyone considering touring the Mosel region.

This hotel has so many different room styles you have to keep going back to check them all out. It is perfectly situated within walking distance of some great eating spots, cellars, vineyards and even a gliding club. Once the bells have woken you up, stroll to the jetty and take the ferry down river to Bernkastel. There is just too much to do.

Room Tip: The annexe has some perfect proximities to the river.

Nice location for this historical hotel on the Mosel. Some old traditional rooms and some modern updated rooms. Clean, good linens, nice for an overnight. Bar has some good cocktails with classic bartender and good energy.
Walk to solid classical restaurants.
Would stay again
